Jennifer Garner Teases John McCain

Share
Senator John McCain may have aligned himself with such powerful Hollywood allies as Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, but now in addition to getting flack from prominent Hollywood political pundit Paris Hilton for using her image without her permission in a campaign commercial, he was recently teased by Jennifer Garner when she spoke at a Barack Obama fundraiser in Miami.

The pregnant Alias star told the audience, "I'm here to audition for the next John McCain TV commercial." Politics aside, I think she looked cute in her little black satin dress alongside hubby Ben Affleck.

But the sad part is that I'm starting to get the feeling that McCain's favorite show is The Hills and probably has no idea who Jennifer is. Garner's joke's falling on deaf ears--and I mean that as a figure of speech. I'm not implying that he's so old he can no longer hear.

"I'm here to audition for the next John McCain TV commercial."

All joking aside, that John McCain advert wasn't too far off the mark though was it? Every Hollywood hack seems to be coming out of the woodwork to align themselves with Obama because it's the liberal and in thing to do.

Is Hollywood predictable or what?

Oh Green - You are SO right on. Wholeheartedly predictable (the Hollywood crowd). I read an article about Ben Stein, who is that kind of monotone actor in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and this guy is not only a great actor, writer and comedian, but also a very bright attorney, political speech-writer and an economist. And he said he literally stopped going out to Hollywood parties because of the verbal abuse he took for being a Republican. Seems the "oh-so-liberal, tolerant and accepting" Hollywood crowd has oh so little tolerance and/or acceptance for anyone who doesn't think exactly as they do. Typical. I have all kinds of people in my world, regardless of my beliefs. Keeps it interesting, keeps it honest.

um, yeah, because there are NO republicans in hollywood, right?

isn't one of them the gov of the state?

maybe Ben Stein is just embarrassed to be on the same "side" as Heidi Montag.

August 4, 2008 1:23 PM

I doubt highly that Heidi Montag even really has a "side". Something tells me she has no idea whatsoever why she calls herself a Republican. Just a tad different from someone like Ben Stein.

August 4, 2008 1:28 PM

Heidi Montag doesn't count. She has no functioning brain cells. She'd have supported Saddam Hussein if she thought there was a photo opportunity in it. Name one other Hollywood star who is openly supporting John McCain. I can't think of any. I'm sure they are there, but theyare keeping it quiet because all te cool kids are supporting Obama.

August 4, 2008 1:39 PM

Well the Hiltons were supporting McCain. They may not be after that commercial, which I thought was a joke for many reasons, the least of which being that McCain is just as much a celebrity as Obama is.

According to the dictionary, a celebrity is someone who is well-known. McCain is known around the world and has been for decades if for no other reason than his former-POW status. Obama may be more popular with the "cool kids" but McCain is just as much of a celebrity.

August 4, 2008 1:43 PM

Oh, and I wasn't making fun of you, green cardigan, with the "cool kids" in quotes like that. I didn't even see that you had referred to them as the "cool kids" until after I had posted.

August 4, 2008 1:59 PM

That's ok Esther no offense taken.
Celebrity is an awful word really, it reduces everything to designer clothes and photo ops. Both Obama and John McCain should be above all that. I like John McCain. He's the real deal. He fought for your country. He's just a little old i think. I also like Obama but when i see Scarlett Johannsen in her red lipstick looking seductive and telling you all to 'do the right thing' and vote Obama, i just think WTF?

August 4, 2008 2:34 PM

funny that someone with "no funtioning brain cells" would align themselves with mccain.

yeah, blah blah blah...fought for my country...admirable, to be sure, but doesn't mean he's qualified to run the country. if "real deal" means "reinventing yourself from the maverick image you had in 2000 so that you appeal to the core voters of the repub party in 2008", then I agree. if "real deal" means vowing not to go negative and run a non-slanderous campaign and then doing just that, then you're right. if "real deal" means doing nothing but trying to detract from your opponent rather than put forth why people should vote for you, then maybe you've got something there.

he may be "experienced", but he supports most of the failed bush polices of the last 8 years.

not exactly the "experience" I want to see in the next president.

do some research, green. there are plenty. chuck norris, kelsey grammar, patricia heaton, ARNOLD SCHWARTZENEGGER, adam sandler...just put "hollywood for mccain" into google and let 'er rip. and yes, mccain SHOULD be above all that...but what do you expect from someone who doesn't use computers and counts "the Hills" as his favorite show?

and then there's the fact that he thinks viagra should be paid for by insurance companies but birth control shouldn't...his description of the "iraq/pakistan border", his apparent lack of awareness that Czechoslovakia doesn't exist anymore, his outright lies about Obama (like Obama not visiting the troops in Europe and why)...the man is not a good choice.

I would have voted for McCain over Gore in 2000 IN A HEARTBEAT, but not anymore.

Barack Obama has to poll the American people to decide what to eat for dinner. He has no opinion of his own. He's like John Travolta in Primary Colors. No thanks!

August 4, 2008 2:57 PM

My point really is that the whole celebrity factor should be LEFT OUT of politics. There is no denying that Obama's campaign for the presidency is fueled in part by stars endorsing him. He shouldn't need to go down that route, but maybe it's a sign of the time we live in. And McCain's 'dirty trick' ad calling this factor up had a grain of truth in it.

Time to burn my Alias DVDs. Thought you were more intelligent than that Sydney....

Yes, let's pick McCain, so he can bring back teaching Intelligent Desing in the schools and the whole world can think that Americans are the stupidest people on the face of the Earth! Priests will teach science and the scientist can go to Saudi Arabia and teach their mumbo-jumbo there!

Can we pick somebody with a brain for President?
