The 6'4" swimming phenom known as Michael Phelps stepped onto the podium yesterday to accept his 10th and 11th career gold medals, making him the most medaled
Olympic athlete of all time. 23-year-old Phelps won his 10th gold for
the 200-meter butterfly and his 4x200 meter relay team easily took the
event. The National Aquatics Center has declared that this
accomplishment has made Michael Phelps "aruably the greatest Olympian
of all time."
Despite winning the gold for his individual event, the 200-meter butterfly, Phelps was disappointed with his world record time because he had been hoping for a better time. He said of his swim, "It just kept getting worse and worse through the race." (My bad--Michael was talking about his goggles filling up with water.)
However, any frustration Michael might have felt was gone by the time he stepped up to the podium to accept his gold medal along with his relay time. "On the podium, I kept tearing [up] at it. I'm almost at a loss for words....It's the best thing having four American guys ... swim all well together."

He didn't say that about his swim... His goggles unsealed when he dove in, and he said the water filling up his goggles "kept getting worse and worse through the race." He was disappointed in his time and frustrated that he couldn't do his best because he couldn't see.

Actually, I don't think he's won the most medals yet ... although he has won the most GOLD medals. I think that Soviet gymnast still has more Olympic medals overall.
