Hollywood Democrats are packing up and heading out to Denver for the Democratic National Convention (where Effie is going to be singing the national anthem, btw) to support their boy Barack Obama. The shindig opened with a speech from Michelle Obama and no, we're not talking about Tyra "I'm Every Woman" Banks.

One of the most vocal of Barack's Hollywood supporters is Ben Affleck who hit up LAX airport looking super casual in his Converse All-Star sneaks as he walks through security. Let's just hope he shaves the scruff in time for the convention, y'all.

Check out all the photos of Ben Affleck in the gallery.

I couldn't care less about Ben Affleck's (or any other celebrity mental giant) thinks about politics. Ugh. Go away and make movies.

I couldn't care less about what Ben Affleck (or any other celebrity mental giant) thinks about politics. Ugh. Go away and make movies.

I have to agree with you JennaMeow. Celebrities should keep their political opinions out of the media...and yeah jrd, I picked up on that too.

I agree with you, I don't really care about an actor's opinion on politics. well, not more than any other person's opinion. If the person, celeb or not, has an informed and intelligent opinion, I'll at least listen and give it some thought.

the unfortunate thing is, just like their opinion on anything else, it gets more media attention and it does unfortunately influence how people think.

whether they're endorsing a clothing line or a candidate, people are sheep and will follow someone they "admire".

No, please don't shave the scruff, Ben! It makes you so much more manly and hot. I mean, you might so totally get lucky with me--if you were into dudes, that is. I'm just sayin' the offer is on the table, you know, if Jennifer is too busy with Violet. Yes, we'll keep it on the DL.

I've seen Ben on a lot of talk shows. He is very intelligent and very well spoken He knows and understands the issues and he discusses them very, very well.

I am glad to see him and all the other Hollywood folk engaged the way they are! I am also very impressed with all the charitable and humanitarian work these "Celebrities" do on a regular basis. Ben just came back from working in Africa. Something he does often...without any cameras or fanfair.

I care about the celebrities I like and if I ever found out one of them was a crazy, Right Wing extremist, or someone equally hateful, it would affect the way I think of them.

I care about politics very much. It affects everything in our lives. I would rather be active trying to improve things then sit back and be a victim and be passive, and negative, and complain. If Ben Affleck inspires just one person to get up off their butts, that will be something to the good!

Shut up, Ben.

Why would a movie star or any celebrity who is passionate about politics be a moron and be hated? Geeezzzz people move to Afghanistan already and live there! Ben Affleck is an intelligent person who does not compromise his view, his acts, his thinking --- that is why he is being persecuted by brainless idiots like you.

Just to confirm what Anon 7:03 said, Ben Affleck was here in Denver to be in a Poker Tournament for charity to raise money for the PAralyzed Veterans of America. The event was on Tuesaday. There are a lot of charity events going on this week and a lot of famous bands are in town, for them, too.

Celebrities who express political opinions do so at the risk of alienating fans and I applaud them for it.

Was Affleck supposed to stay home? His is no more or less important than mine or YOURS.

If you don't happen to agree, feel free to tune them out.

Was Affleck supposed to stay home? His opinion is no more or less important than yours or mine. Last I checked, no one was forcing me to believe anything I didn't.

If you don't happen to agree with someone's politics, feel free to switch them off. Isn't it a free country for him too?
