Will Smith still maintains that even though he donated money to the Church of Scientology's LEAP program back in 2006 and has helped to create a private school where students will be taught using Scientologist methodology and hobnobs with some of Scientology's biggest stars, he's still not a card-carrying member of the organization.
Fox News caught up with the Hancock actor at the premiere of Lakeview Terrace, which he co-produced and also stars Samuel L. Jackson who is clearly still as attached to that Kangol hat of his as he has ever been.
The reporter asked Smith if he was a Scientologist. Will said, "I am not" and then explained his interest in the religion by saying, "You can take different parts of things you like and put them all together."
Yeah, personally, I like the part about it where you become a filthy rich movie star.

PugPugPug says:
Will Smith IS a Scientologist.
He supports Tom Cruise. He defended the Scientology "thetan" concept in the media. He uses Scientology "tech" in his school and many of the teachers there JUST HAPPEN TO BE Scientologists, what a coincidence. He gave out Scientology coupons in gift bags to fellow actors at a party. He donated a fortune to Scientology-related organizations.
Scientology has a secular component and a religious component, and though Smith may or may not be telling the truth when he says it's not his religion, he IS a de-facto Scientologist on a secular level and a business level, whether he strictly follows the religious part of it or not.
Donkey Punch says:
He definitely is a Scientology cult member. I saw an interview with him on Ellen and he was using a lot of the buzzwords that the cult uses while he was talking. He wasn't even aware of how he sounded.
