One heartbeat away from death (hey, Tina Fey said it, I didn't) presidential candidate John McCain was supposed to have been on David Letterman's show last night. He bailed in a phone call at the last second claiming he was halting his campaign and rushing off to the airport to look after America's economic crisis. Except he didn't, and actually went to go be interviewed by Katie Couric.

Letterman wasn't jazzed by this maneuver. He had Keith Olbermann on instead and spent a good portion of the program mocking McCain. He even put up a live feed of McCain getting his makeup done for the Couric interview, exposing his old man lies.

"Need a ride to the airport?," David mocked.

I think McCain is probably trying to enact damage control after Tina Fey Lite's disastrous interviews. I also think that saving the economy is a bad excuse. What the hell is he going to do? Quickly invest somewhere? That's like when I banged in sick for work and gave "shark attack" as the reason.

Good thing what you "think" is of no consequence to anyone.

Neither is what you think, Jimi. Now go away.

I, on the other hand, thought Letterman was on it last night. I mean, I would understand if McSame sincerely felt that he had to work on the economy instead of going on Letterman's show. But instead, he went to Couric's show? Just three blocks down? He LIED about why he wasn't going on Letterman. and he had every right to be mad.

A President doesn't get to call time-out on one crisis when another one pops up. Is this the kind of "leadership" McSame is thinking of bringing to the White House? Sorry Russia, please hold off the cold war until I get the economy under wraps! Yea, that will work. I fear for this country.

and so, jimi, that's why YOU'RE here reading J's post?

Ok, Xicana...I'm not disagreeing with you about the lying and being mad, but I would say that going on the Letterman show (or any show for that matter) is hardly a crisis that needs to be dealt with as it would a real crisis if he were in office. I don't think this is representative of his ability as president.
