The family of actor Heath Ledger, who died in New York in January from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, has decided to hand over Ledger's entire estate to Heath's daughter Matilda Rose Ledger.
In his will, which has been probated behind closed doors at the Supreme
Court in Perth, Ledger left everything to his parents and three sisters.
But Ledger's father, Kim, says there will be no challenge of the will by Michelle Williams and the family has given everything to Matilda. "There is no claim," Mr Ledger said. "Our family has gifted everything to Matilda."
Nicely done, Ledger family.

Who gets residuals and the rights to his story?

He DID have other money. He filmed a lot of films, and had cash from his movies. I believe the 20 mil is not related to the 10 he has on insurance. If they reward Matilda with that....She's just got 30 mil in the bank. Little girl is set for life, but I think she'd still rather have her daddy.
B-Net says:
Finally, a celebrity family who does not care about about money in every situation.
Well done indeed.
Jason Glover says:
I agree. Them giving it all to his daughter was the best thing they could have done. I still feel sorry for her that she had to lose her dad though.
Ash Casanova says:
Good move - yes, for devising $20m to his daughter.
Bad move because $18m out of the $20m will probably be hit with a 45% estate tax. OUCH!!! I'm only a law student, but you would think someone could've done some estate planning for this guy.
Al says:
They seem like a really sweet, decent family. That's impressive for Hollywood. Or anywhere. It's awful they had to lose Heath.
charlotte says:
they're not a hollywood family, they're normal australians. that's probably why.
wes says:
ledgers fathers name is kim?
lexi says:
Charlotte you're right, they are your average Australian family. Heath's family is from Perth and his mum lives in the next suburb from me. My cousin went to school with Heath at Guildford Grammar. Lovely family. I was deeply upset when he passed away.
