When X-Factor star Leona Lewis failed to show up to
accept her accolades at the Mobo awards, the audience reacted with a
resounding "boo!" Via video, Lewis accepted her awards for Best Video
for her single "Bleeding Love" and Best Album for her chart-topping Spirit.
Despite her apology to her fans that she was unable to attend the ceremony, well-behaved Lewis received a frosty reception. In fact, the reaction became so unruly and loud that Spice Girl Melanie Brown instructed the audience to pipe down.
The fashionably disastrous singer told the audience, "Stop giving Leona Lewis a hard time, you lot. It's not her fault she's not here." Meanwhile, I love that when festive "American Boy" singer Estelle went on stage to accept her prize for Best UK Female Artist, she said, "I'm supposed to be on tour, but ... I had to be here." In your face, Leona!
