Samuel L. Jackson spoke to CNN about his deceased Soul Men co-star and friend Bernie Mac at the film's premiere last night.
Mac, 50, passed away in August before seeing the completed film. The two play competing soul singers in the flick.
"Bernie and I were pals. We've known each other for a long time and we had a great relationship and ... we've been trying to find something to do together for a while," he said. "Getting this project and making it happen and understanding who these [characters] were on the inside of it was pretty easy for us, because we're both guys of a certain age who understand the creaks and aches," Jackson said.
Jackson describes the film as a "perfect way to say goodbye to somebody that we all know and love," he said.
The film brought a slew of people out of the house to the red carpet. Star Jones dressed half her age and Ice-T's wife Coco was actually...well, dressed. John Legend is rocking that wear-a-neck-tie-over-a-t-shirt-thing that no one understands. Everyone just wants to know where your shirt was left.
