If you live in the state of California, as most of us at Socialite
Life do, then Proposition 8 will be on your ballot for tomorrow's
election. We try to avoid getting political here on the site, but since
this particular legislation hits close to home, we felt the need to
speak up.
Please, please vote NO on Prop 8,
which is looking to ban same sex marriage in California. If you see any
ads on the site encouraging you to vote yes, please disregard them. We
are working to try and get those removed.

THANK YOU.
sarah says:
Quit telling people how to vote...what is the big freaking deal about being able to get married when you are gay anyways, if you love someone you dont need to be married to prove it so get over it.
rootabega says:
thats weird you would have a NO on Prop 8 blog when you are advertising YES on Prop 8 on your overly crowded with ads crappy new site.
angely says:
spoken just like sarah palin.
Actually no. Some Ya'lls are missing.
MiaPiaTia says:
Sarah: "...if you love someone you dont need to be married to prove it so get over it."
With that "genius" analysis, let's just ban marriage for everybody.
Dumbass.
turnip says:
ah rootabega, if you read the post, you'd see that they're trying to get the ads removed, so just calm your crappy ass down
stolidog1 says:
It is so misleading how the ads are equating gay marriage to banned interracial marriage. What a hoax!! A man and a MAN can NOT produce a child! It is NOT normal and we should not allow such a lie to creep into our society.
rootabega says:
sowwy turnip i only read what j harv writes, dont get your roots in a bunch ;)
J. Harvey says:
And J. Harvey lives in Boston, is a gay guy who is lucky enough to live in a state where he can marry his boyfriend some day and thinks you should protect equal rights for gay people in California so they're afforded the same opportunity that gays and lesbians in Massachusetts now have after a lot of struggle....
It's not special rights.
It's EQUAL rights.
So please vote no on 8.
And I'm going to leave it at that.
Yoshi says:
Sarah: The thing is that without marriage rights it's like saying "You're inferior, you don't deserve a right that all straight people have"
reen cardigan says:
People in gay relationships deserve to be protected by the law just as people in straight relationships are. Marriage, a civil ceremony, a union that is recognised by the State, call it whatever you like, makes this easier. Maybe one day we'll have this in Ireland too. I would like to see my brother have this choice.
OC Trophy Wife says:
How can anyone vote to ban two loving people from getting married? It's preposterous to even fight about this and pump millions into it.
Two people committing their lives to one another is a sacred and beautiful moment - no matter the gender.
Mom in DM says:
"It is so misleading how the ads are equating gay marriage to banned interracial marriage. What a hoax!! A man and a MAN can NOT produce a child! It is NOT normal and we should not allow such a lie to creep into our society."
So, should infertile couples be banned from marrying? What about couples who don't want children? If you don't think gay couples are normal, you must not know any gay couples. Marriage has a stabilizing effect on society. And marriage is as sacred as the two parties choose to make it. Treating people as your equal doesn't make them a threat to you. It makes them one of you.
NoOnProp8inCA says:
Thank you Thank you Thank you. We've had gay couples getting happily married here for awhile now and the sky is not raining brimstone, I think God is okay with what's happening, just like HE was okay with interracial marriage. What are you yes on 8 people so afraid of anyway? Say it out loud and see how ignorant you sound.
Xicana says:
Two months ago, I went to my friend's twenty-year anniversary. They've been inseparable since the very day they met. I'll be voting No on Prop 8 for them and for every one of my gay friends. And if I had no gay friends, I'd still be voting No on Prop 8 anyway because as I see it, this a civil rights issue.
Obama '08!
Sunshine State says:
FYI for anyone living in Florida, "Admendment 2" states that marriage is only between one man and one woman. Vote "no" if you think gays should have the same rights as everyone else. I did. Sneaky bastards are trying to avoid the issue altogether w/an amendment.
Who are we to say that 2 loving people can't get married? I hope one day it's law everywhere.
