So the brilliance over at ABC decided that there were far too
many lesbians on their Grey's Anatomy show. They
have let go actress Brooke Smith who plays the sapphic "Dr. Erica Hahn"
and the new character Melissa George plays has been changed from
bisexual to heterosexual. Couldn't the dog have eaten Katherine Heigl so we could have avoided all this need for change?
Here's the weird thing. Brooke Smith spoke with EW, and she says that she's not even getting a send-off. She's smack-dab in the middle of a relationship with Sara Ramirez's "Callie" character and apparently she just walks to her car at the end of the episode and they never hear from her again.
Whatthevanishedlezzie? They let THIS take place, but no more gay ladies?
"I'm not written out. My final scene is just me heading to my car. I honestly don't know what happens in the next episode. I heard not much," Smith says.
Creator Shonda Rimes issued a statement:
"Brooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian. Clearly it's not an issue as we have a lesbian character on the show -- Calliope Torres. Sara Ramirez is an incredible comedic and dramatic actress and we wanted to be able to play up her magic. Unfortunately, we did not find that the magic and chemistry with Brooke's character would sustain in the long run. The impact of the Callie/Erica relationship will be felt and played out in a story for Callie."
Smith comments that she believes Rimes' "hands were tied" and that she seemed "upset" by the decision. Anita Bryant's running ABC all of a sudden?

I'm disappointed. Callie Torres was my favorite character but Shondra Rhymes ruined her character. Her lez relationship was totally forced and the plot line just sucked. I'm very upset that they wrote the character into a hole and then decided to trash her.
I'm really tired of all the forced hook ups on Grey's. It's so stupid.

The TV Guide article was DUMB. Link it to something else! It suggested that Rebecca Romaijn was kicked off Ugly Betty for being transgender.....idiots. Shes pregnant with TWINS...how exactly does ABC write that in? And who wants to work when pregnant with twins anyways? She'll be back after she delivers!
Erica Hahn was so boring. If they want to make/keep Callie a lesbian, they needed to find someone more appealing to hook her up with. It seemed to forced and odd. I'm not sad to see her go.
