Word on the street is that Twilight, the new flick about teenage vampires loving up on regular girls, is set to become the next Harry Potter-type movie series. And its star Robert Pattinson, already making the ladies (and certain gentlemen) swoon with his smoldering looks and gnarly homeless hair, looks to be The Next Big Actor.
EW is featuring Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (the female lead) on three different covers in anticipation of the move's release on Nov. 21. And Summit Entertainment is banking that this first movie could spawn three more based on the series of books by Stephanie Meyer. Who doesn't like vampires? They're usually hot, know karate and never look spray-tanned.
Director Catherine Hardwicke, however, isn't counting her coffins before they're opened. The film has to clear $150 million before a sequel is greenlit.
''This has to be a crazy hit,'' she says. ''Nobody can say that it can do that well right now.''
Pattinson could end up being a huge star, or Vin Diesel and Gretchen Mol. It's hard to say at this poiint.
