Keith Olbermann Gets Eloquent On Prop 8

Because we believe in freedom of expression here at Socialite Life, and because we support the protests against Proposition 8 (the amendment which overturned the rights of same-sex couples to marry in California), we'd like to present MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's insightful words on the matter. Enjoy and discuss.

I saw this yesterday and thought it was simply beautiful.

I live in Silver Lake, CA, and went to one of the bigger Anti-Prop 8 rallies last Saturday with my boyfriend, one of my sisters, her boyfriend, a girlfriend and two of my best guy friends who have been together for 20 years. It was moving to see so many support the civil rights of gays and lesbians. And I will continue to fight against the bigotry that took their rights away because, as Olbermann said, this is not about politics, this is a question of love.

Side note: I met Tegan Quin from Tegan and Sara at the march! Took a great pix with her and my siter.

Absolutely moving.

Why isn't ANYONE protesting the single largest contributor to Prop 8? Howard Ahmanson has offices at 2699 White Road, Suite 101 in Irvine!

You know, I am one of those people who was divided on this issue. This Prop 8 represents to me the fight gay people have in the Western world to be recognized as equal to straight people. I am from traditional background and the traditional belief that marriage is between a man and woman , is a very hard one to shake. I think i read a post here by 'Stolidog' last week. separate rights is not equal rights. That sums it up for me really. It's not ok to say to my brother who is an open gay man, its ok for you to get your union legalized, but you cannot be married. Then I am saying he is less than me and he isn't. He's the same as me. He's my brother. And like this Olbermann said in this youtube clip 'what's it to you?'...well i am asking myself that. What is it to me? What business is it of mine if two gay men or women get married? Would I not be happy to see my brother married to someone he loves and who loves him back and have the opportunity to share his life like i have? Yes I would be happy.

Beautiful and heartfelt. I just wish that came out before the election and was mandatory viewing.

Keith Olberman, you beautiful, wise, human being, THANK YOU. May the world bless you for your honesty, eloquence, and compassion.
