My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos and husband Ian Gomez have revealed that they adopted a five-year-old toddler several months ago. "They are going public now to bring attention to National Adoption Month and the 500,000 children in foster care," says Vardalos' rep. "Of these children, 129,000 are 'legally free' for adoption and waiting for a family." It's good to know that Nia is still around and that she didn't go into the witness protection program after Connie & Carla. It takes a REALLY bad movie to make Toni Collete look like a bad actress.
Madonna is reportedly following in Oprah Winfrey's footsteps by opening a school for girls in Malawi. She has released a video on her website asking for donations. "There are very few girls in Africa in general who are encouraged or allowed to go to secondary school so after spending a lot of time there I realized that one of the ways I could help was to build a girls' school," she says. Madge adopted her son David, 3,from Malawi. Let's hope her school gets off to a better start than Oprah's.

A five year old is not a toddler.
