Charlize Theron was inducted as the newest U.N. Messenger of Peace today.
She's going to use her Academy Award-winning fame to travel the world
and aid in trying to stop violence against violence against women.
Theron, who is stunning and also fun to be around, experienced her own sort of tragedy in that vein when she watched her mother shoot her alcoholic father in self-defense when she was 15 in South Africa.
After being inducted by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Theron told reports that she was taking on her new responsibilities "very humbly, with a very excited heart." She will be travel the world s part of Ban's campaign dubbed UNite to End Violence against Women, which was launched in February.
Dont you just love her even more considering other women in her position are running around clubs with powdered noses and getting drunk beside the DJ booth?
