A lot of expectations are riding on the shoulders of stars of the recently premiered Baz Luhrmann film Australia starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
The hope is that the two-hour and forty-minute movie that focuses on
"the stolen generation" of Aboriginal children taken from their homes
and placed with white families will make its mark on Australian cinema,
as well as the box office.
The story chronicles the relationship between Kidman's character of an English blueblood who travels with Jackman's character of a cowboy ("drover") and an Aboriginal boy and a herd of cattle across the vast country.
Regardless of early mixed reviews, Kidman remains pleased with the experience and the outcome of the project. She told press, "Rarely do you get a make a film that you have dreamed of doing since you were little, which will be part of Australian cinema. "This is a celebration for me and hopefully for this country."
