lautner was too tiny to play a nearly 7 ft werewolf, not nearly rugged enough. he supposedly grows a foot between twilight and new moon. his made out of putty nose was very distracting, and wouldn't make for any good close-ups, either.

these changes are awesome. hardwicke's film was poorly directed, with all the corded "flying". so much of it was cringe-worthy via her interpretation. the line "and so the lion fell in love with the lamb" was supposed to have a sarcastic tone, with "what a stupid lamb" as a snickered response, NOT the schmoopy scene she gave us. edward's sun-exposed, sparkling skin was NOT supposed to make a tinkerbell noise.

this is all looking good for a turn-around from that cw production angle.

i kind of enjoyed the first movie, but it was majorly flawed, it could have been so much better & that makes me sad...
overall bad casting except for edward & alice. i think emma watson from the harry potter movies would have made an excellent bella. taylor was okay for the first one...he had a boyish charm, but next time he needs to be more masculine & its an obvious difference, so its okay to recast. i agree with milky...i was annoyed with the cheesy flying, inaccurate line interpretation & edwards sparkling fairy skin.

Taylor just isn't right for the part of a 7 foot warewolf. Rosalie was deifnitely NOT the most gorgeous vampire ever... Alice, Edward, Charlie, Carlise, and Esme were the only people they got right. Everyone else can go!
Lets see if they actually put money in this film. Twilight was so cheaply done you could see the pull from the zipcords on Edward and Bella's clothes! Get it right this time!

Is it beyond ridiculous that they could use camera angles and special effects to make him appear 6ft 7? I mean, he has a brilliant body and I personally think lookswise he is a perfect casting for Jacob. Hot, but not so stunning that you'd leave Edward.

If they're going to make this change maybe they can start over and find actors that can really act and that are actually beautiful. The only characters they got right were Charlie and Billy. I could see the make up on Carlisle and Rosalie throughout the entire film.

I've read the series enough times to have the characters down pat. Taylor IS JACOB BLACK!! honestly rob and kristen made a very bad Bella and Edward. and Rosalie wasn't quite in character either. Well, I can understand them getting rid of him. They're on a tight budget (50 million isn't a lot), and he's really short. he's 5'9''. he's supposed to be 6'7'' in the book. That's way too much of a difference to notice. And the studio did plan this, they didn't have him sign a 3 year contract like the others.

Taylor is Jacob Black to me. I don't care if he is baby-faced. He could bulk up a bit and that be fine. As long as he can get the aggressive side down and that edginess of Jacob from the books really that's all that matters to me.

While I have to say I think they got Jacob all wrong with babyface Taylor (and should have snagged Caleb Danvers who is drool worthy) I think it would be a big BIG mistake to pull him. One sure fire way to crash and burn... dump a main actor. They're going to have to CGI a lot for the wolves, they just need to get him working out and find a nice tall box for him to stand on.

TAYLOR LAUTNER = JACOB BLACK. That's how it's suppose to be. He's perfect for this role and I was looking forward to see his character develope on the next few movies. People were expecting him to continuously play Jacob. and FYI, I thought Taylor and Kristen had chemistry in movie. Maybe not like Edward and Bella but the typical Jacob and Bella bond they had in the book. They looked like best friends, just the way it's supposed to be. I was looking forward to seeing Taylor's big break on New Moon because he has a huge role there.

You know with Hollywood these days, there's always make up and special effects to make someone look older! Why can't they just do that? Taylor was how I pictured Jacob Black way before I knew he was going to play the role. It sucks that I may never see him in the big screen again.

Although I'm faithfully in Team Edward. Jacob is truly a fictional character I grew to respect because of his personality so this IS a big deal for me being a fan of the book and the movie.

Second, if any of you think that Taylor Lautner can't pas 4 a 7ft werewolf, TWILIGHT is the book. And in that book, he is big or buff AT ALL. If he is going to be starring in NEW MOON then yes, make him work out.
Yet, I doubt he could pass for the "new" Jacob in NEW MOON. It probably would be better to replace him, but make sure the new actor looks somewhat like Taylor Lautner. I definetly hate it when people are replaced in movies, but this might be for the best. I've read the saga three times, and my idea of when Jacob sprouts, is having a whole new him. I agree with all of you on the fact that I don't like it when they change actors/actresses for a character either. I did find some interesting info on this though, if you go to IMDB, Internet Movie Database, it has some of the cast listed and Taylor is still listed there. This site is usually most accurate on movie info. Just wanted to let you guys know.

Well. First of all, if they're worried about the physical aspects, then there's much they can do to make Taylor appear more like Stephanie's phsyical description. Hollywood make-up artists can do pretty much anything. They can age him and "make him buff" using airbrushes...come on. And as far as the height, well, Tom Cruise has been standing on boxes for years to make him look taller. And really, if Tom Cruise can do that, then why not Taylor?

Most people become upset when characters change midseries...and with a production as big as this, they really should be sure the star of the movie (let's face it...in New Moon, Jacob's role is argueably the largest.) is as good an actor as possible...which would be Taylor Lautner.

i think that it is unfair to recast Jacob Blacks character.
Taylor Lautner did a fantastic job of Jacob in Twilight, and i think he would do that again in New Moon.

Plus, if they replaced Taylor for looking too young, slight and too short, than practically the rest of the cast would have to go for their 'wrong image' as well.
For example.
Robert Pattinson does NOT look 17 and gorgeous.
Ashley Greene is NOT 4'10".
Kristen Stewart is NOT 5'4"

Twilight the book didn't = twilight the movie

Love Taylor Lautner, but Jacob Black should look older than his actual age in NEW Moon. And Steven Strait looks like an older, bulkier and taller version of Taylor (sorry Taylor).

He would make a perfect Jacob Black in New Moon up until Breaking Dawn. Just an additional note- Josh Hartnett looks like an older version of Stevn Strait (but then the Twilight saga doesn't go that far hehehehe!)

BTW when the Twilight book came out in bookstores 2 weeks before the showing of the movie, I bought it casue it said it was in the New York Times Bestseller list. While was reading the book and looked at the cover with the movie cast on it (and not the original apple cupped in a pair of hands), I was able to easily identify which book characters were on the cover and their images on the cover was what i saw during my reading. Cool casting!

I agree with "bri t"---if they want to use the excuse that Taylor is not tall enough or does not look mature enough to play the New Moon version of Jacob, then they also need to re-cast pretty much everyone else. The actors (especially Taylor) were able to bring their characters to life, whether or not they fit the exact descriptions of their characters from the book. Taylor did a great job as Jacob. I can tell from his enthusiasm for the part (and the books and the fans) that he would do his best---put his heart and soul in it---to portray the New Moon and Eclipse Jacobs as the fans expect them to be. Height does not seem to be that much of an issue when you have great actors who can draw you into the story and make you fall in love with their characters. If Taylor gets the boot, I'm sorry but I would not see the point in continuing to support the franchise. I guess I better stock up on my Jacob merch now, while it's still Taylor's face on everything. Oh wait, I don't have to, and do you know why? Because I've already bought every Jacob merchandise with Taylor's face on it. And the Team Jacob stuff. Yes, I'm adamantly Team Jacob/Team Jacob, but I warmed up to the Cullens after watching Twilight...so that technically makes me Team Switzerland, I suppose. Keep Taylor, or you will lose a big chunk of your built-in audience for New Moon. I saw Twilight twice (so far), mainly because I wanted to see Taylor.

When I read the Twilight saga I pictured Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. Many other people have as well, so if you replace Taylor Lautner, many people will be enraged, including me. New Moon will not be the same without him. Don't be greedy for money just use a make up artist or some special effects. In New Moon Jacob was like he was in Twilight in the beginning. So shouldn't he be in the beginning? So when he turns into a wolf they should get Micheal Copon to be Jacob... so Taylor Lautner will still be able to play Jacob when he is human not a wolf

that is not a fact. At the begining when i knew about the cast i didn't like most of the actors they choose but when i saw the movie i began to like them and know i can't see anyonelse as those characters.
Like i thought Rob Pattison wasn't Edward( for me he is as hot as Edward is describe in the books) but now i like him, the same happens with Nikki Reed.
I also think that Kristen STEWART looks like Bella but can't act like her, but the thing is that they can't change a main character is just wrong.
Taylor have to stay, they just have to use special effects. I think that is they change him a lot of fans won't go to watch new moon. That would annoying me because i think Twilight was't what i aspect it to be and have hopes for new moon because Catherine won't be directing it.
But if they change Taylor that fact would change everything and maybe new moon won't be a successful in the box office for this fact. Taylor is Jacob for me, he did his part well.

I believe that Taylor Lautner made a great Jacob. Basically because he wasn't that big a part of Twilight in the first place. I mean if they were going to replace him after New Moon that would make me upset. Okay what some people need to realize is that you aren't going to find the perfect person for every character, it just doesn't work out that way. I look at it as they did the best they could and the movie kicked ass! I think Rob and Kristen fit the perfect role for Edward and Bella. I don't believe that TL's not going to be in the movie. I think a little editing to his body wouldn't hurt either. This is the 21st century, people can do some pretty amazing stuff with computers, so they shouldn't change actors, that's just down right stupid.
