I was mad at Copon for making remarks about getting the role before any decision had been made. Once I read that he said the Facebook, where the comments had been made, was a fraud, I decided not to be so mad at him, but I still think that a recast is purely idiotic.

Now, claiming that the 16-yr-old has been shooting steroids? As far as immaturity goes, you can pick whether you're the pot or the kettle. The kid has a history of dedication to projects.

To Kate: I think you'll find that a lot of people don't think him looking 25 is necessarily important to the plot. He's already bulkier, they can comment on that. What's important is Bella's emotional breakdown throughout the whole freakin' book and Jacob's personality transformation.

I'm with Kismet. Looks aren't as important as being the "right" person for the job. Copon can't even act, let alone encompass Jacob. Ok, so I think that they definitely should keep Taylor Lautner for New Moon. He's really dedicated and has the acting ability to carry out the role of Jacob, in my opinion. Michael Copon barely knows anything about the saga. In a J-14 interview, he called New Moon "Twilight 2", said negative things about Taylor Lautner that were unnecessary, and apparently didn't know Robert Pattinson played the role of Edward in Twilight. Also, I've seen Bring it on: in it to win it (which I think was horrible). He played a part in the movie and I really didn't like his acting at all. Overall, I don't think that he can bring all of the emotions of Jacob to the film.

And I don't know why this article says that Michael has gotten the part, because Summit hasn't confirmed anything about the part of Jacob yet.

I don't think Taylor Lautner needs to look 25 in order to successfully play Jacob. I think what he needs to do is portray Jacob in the right way, which I feel he can do.

Lautner did a terrific job as Jacob on and off screen. His passion for the role is unmatched, and I certtainly have not read anything on Copon avidly pursuing the role (like doing research on the tribe or getting to really know Jacob Black on the inside). Lautner already has an established fanbase and proved himself in Twilight (yeah "1" and not "2". haha.) It's no wonder fans are infuriated. Why replace an actor who has already been cast perfectly? Don't fix what's not broken, Summit (unless Summit wants to commit financial suicide).

I personally believe that Taylor Launter should still have the part. he's really dedicated, i mean who would really want to work as hard as him to put on a lot of muscle unless they were really serious about keeping their part. im in the facebook group in question and it's a great group, with fans who are all dedicated and polite (for the most part) and none of us are against Copon, it's just that Taylor Lautner played his few scenes very well and we would like to see more of him in New Moon. Michael is more experienced and he does look a bit like the older, bitter Jacob, but Taylor Lautner got his face stuck with the word "Jacob Black" whenever it's mentioned, so just keep the original cast and stop dissing everyone else!
P.S. I can say with confidence that Taylor doesn't take steriods, he would have too much to lose and he's very dedicated to his role. He keeps his public image clean, which is definately more than I can say about some other actors. So get your facts straight before you come out and make yourself sound like an idiot.

Every single article I have ever read featuring Michael Copon leads me to believe that he is one of the most obnoxious people in hollywood. I dont like ANYONE who would go to lengths to bitch about their younger rival for the role, which is exactly what he did in popstars interview, and others.

I dont like this Copon guys ego, or his acting skills. The scorpion king wasn't exactly the most impressive film ive ever seen as far as acting goes.

Now This Taylor Lautner, on the other hand. Anyone who has ever watched an interview with Taylor Lautner can tell straight off how dedicated to the role he is, and that is simply fact, not personal opinion. The first time I saw twilight, he was such a perfect Jacob. He was what REALLY made me think, yes, they have got the casting to this film bang on.

For this, and also for the fact that he was what made me smile for the first time when watching twilight the movie, Taylor Lautner has EARNED my vote by far, which is more than Copon can say.

I saw Michael Copon in One Tree Hill. Dude's not a bad actor. In fact, he's pretty talented.

But is he Jacob Black? Hell, no.

Note: Michael Copon is also probably not a douchebag, a dumbass, a dickwad or whatever else haters are accusing him of. Taylor fans, show some dignity and stop hating on the guy: if you lot want to make yourselves heard, go write to Summit Entertainment. Don't harass him on FaceBook.

Anyway, WHY is Copon not Jacob? Simply put, he's too old, and a twenty-six-year-old, no matter how talented, can pull off the freshness, the naivete, the blind omnipotence and the angst that a sixteen-year-old is going through. Older actors in teenage roles have a terrible tendency to overdo the teenageness that comes so naturally to, well, teenagers. Older actors tend to make things too intense. Too jaded. Too I'm-a-disillusioned-adult-ish; a sense of 'been there; done that'. Michael Copon will NOT be able to pull off acting like a teenager; his performance on OTH should attest to that.

And Summit should realize this. Looks and physical stature must always come in second to perfect suitability -- Taylor is absolutely perfect for the role, because he looks earnest and spunky enough to be Jacob. So what if he's no giant? He's Jacob Black. He's Jacob Black.

I didn't like Taylor as Jacob. I thought he looked to young. I thought he did well on the few minutes he had on screen...but he didn't meet my expectations.

I do like Copon. He is good at being moody and at being an asshole. (OTH)
I just don't think I could take baby face taylor seriously.

but it is JUST a movie so either way it won't tear down my life.

A recast is the worst possible thing they could do. The movie was already a huge disappointment for me. If Taylor Lautner isn't Jacob in New Moon I don't think I'll be able to sit through that movie.

I think Michael Copon physically and mentally fits the description of Jacob Black in New Moon. The acting of both actors are equal on both fronts with Michael Copon having more exprerience due to his age. Michael already has experience playing the "other guy" from One Tree Hill and equals Taylor in playing the warrior due to Lava boy and the blue power ranger (Michael may have the edge with his role in the Scorpion King 2, debatable since the movie was kind of weak).

With that said, no offense to Taylor but I cant take the New Moon movie seriously if they have a fakely aged Taylor with platforms and make up on or if they even digitally enhance him to look larger and older. I would prefer Steven Strait to play the part but in this case if they have to select from two actors that are fairly equal, go for Michael!

Holaa por favor k Taylor Lautner permanezca en el papel de Jacob Black, sin él la saga de Crepusculo no va a ser la misma. No tendrá ni el mismo éxito ni la misma audiencia que la 1º película.
Taylor Lautner es imprenscindible en la película ya que que mas da si es demasiado joven seguramente si le dan este papel él crezca a nivel personal y profesional y eso marcaria una gran diferencia se superaria en gran modo y nos dejaría aun mas cn la boca abierta ante su interpretacion ya que él es el mejor actor que puede existir y mas para este papel como es el de Jacob Black.
Tanto la productora como el nuevo director deberian tener en cuenta lo que opinan los fans ya que son ellos los que hacen que Crepusculo sea lo que llegó a ser con su primera película.

ok, idk who wrote this story, but its 100% FALSE! Taylor was NEVER re-casted. He's still playing Jacob in New Moon. Maybe someone should eat a fruitroll up and get their facts straight before posting stupid false crap online. also shows what a big ego Copon has, or had i should say. ok look...i dont think that jacob should be recast because i dont like michael copon. that said, i also dont really think that taylor fits the role of jacob black. he is way too young and looks nothing like jacob should after becoming a werewolf. sure jacob is bellas "sun" in the beginning of the book and taylor fits that perfectly but he is just too baby-faced and young to play the new, bitter jacob black.
