While police don't believe any crime was involved in the tragic death of John Travolta's son Jett Travolta,
sources at the Freeport Grand Bahama Police Department tell TMZ the
Serious Crimes Section is conducting an investigation into the death of
the 16-year-old boy.
Police spokeswoman Loretta Mackey says 16-year-old Jett Travolta hit his head in a bathtub Friday morning while on a family vacation. She said he was declared dead at Rand Memorial Hospital on Grand Bahama Island.
We're told it is still an active investigation and the time line may be important in determining cause of death ... specifically, Jett was last seen going to the bathroom on January 1st, yet his body was not discovered until 10 AM the next day.
It is unclear if Jett fell and then had a seizure -- or if a seizure caused him to fall.
Regardless of the circumstances, this is so sad. Our hearts go out to the family.
UPDATE: It appears Jett's fatal injury was the result of hitting his head on the bathtub, toilet seat, or both. And they say the intimation that Jett went undiscovered for hours is absolutely false.
Police have said the last time anyone saw Jett was when he went to the bathroom on January 1. His body was discovered by nanny Jeff Kathrein the next day at 10 AM. In fact, McDermott and Ossi say it appears Jett went back and forth to his room and the fatal injury occurred "very shortly" before Jett was found on the bathroom floor -- McDermott called it a "small window of time."

It appears the striking of Jett's head was the cause of death, though it won't be clear until the autopsy is performed Monday morning.

I feel so bad for the kid not necessarily the Scientologist parents who, if this kid was autistic, probably withheld proper medication which could have lead to this.

As the mother of an Autistic young man (35) the parents of Jett should and will live with guilt the rest of their lives.These times are no longer the "stone ages". They put their religion before their precious childs well being.They will never know how far he might have gotter with the proper therapy and medication

He was on medication, Depakote, (which may have caused the weight gain) an anti-seizure medication.
But I guess you must have gotten Jett's full medical records to make such assertions that he was not getting care for his medical issues.
P.S. Autism isn't fatal, and there is no real 'treatment' for it, dumbshits. No one knows what causes it, it's INCREDIBLY overdiagnosed, and there's a HUGE spectrum.
So, religion had nothing to do with it, and neither did autism. Having seizures does not make you autistic and even if he was , it's none of your business.

Leave the Travolta's alone - every pic of this poor child shows how loved he was - he was always with his family and regardless of their religious preference and beliefs - the love was there.
In this day and age when Hollywood parents rarely see their kids and leave others to raise them, this cannot be said of this family. They were always together. Let them grieve in peace and privacy.
