It does bother me when people think 4 years is a huge difference -- in this case, miley has been forced to grow up more quickly -- she is a working girl who supports her family! she probably feels as if has more in common with older people. her best friend is a couple years older also. i'm not talking about true maturity -- just her comfort level. And if they are really not having sex, then the relationship is totally legal.
Also -- if she was 18 and he was 22, people wouldn't be talking about an age gap, would they? I mean, that's completely normal for girls to date slightly older guys and 4 years is not much at all... that's like a college freshman dating a first year grad student.
