Drew Barrymore Marches Against Prop 8 With Fellow Celebs

Share

Hollywood opposition to California's Proposition 8 is in full-swing after yesterday's court ruling upholding the state's same sex marriage ban.

Lead by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Pete Wentz, George Takei and Kathy Griffin gathered with a crowd of around 15,000 protesters at Santa Monica Blvd. and San Vicente to demonstrate.

Drew spoke to the crowd and said in her speech, "Children need families, people need to be in love and we have to take steps forward, not backward. I want to live in a world where Prop. 8 doesn't exist."

Meanwhile, I'm wondering, is it wrong to think that people like Perez Hilton and Bobby Trendy would do more help to the cause by staying home? Because if it is, I don't want to be right.

the "celebrity" endorsement
of this issue is dandy and all...

but do they REALLY
know what they are standing for

truth in advertising would be:
"I SUPPORT SAME SEX OPEN MARRIAGES"

if the "gays" really wanted to show
they are deserving of their "equal" rights,
why do they then choose to protest in the safety of their own West Hollywood neighborhood..???

why not take this issue directly to the lower
middle class / ghettos where the bulk of the
votes in FAVOR of Prop 8 were cast...???

but, nope,
is the comfort and safety of their own
area that they choose to march, which
in all honesty, looks like a prep for their
upcoming gay pride celebrations

having "Perez Hilton" in this march, is like having a spokesperson for N.A.M.B.L.A. represent their cause

pathetic.

So democracy is only good if you agree with it?
The people have spoken.
You lost, move on with your life.

Hey, the people voted for Bush twice. I didnt say they were right all the time but that's the name of the game.

If prop 8 had lost, would you have wanted people to keep going at it until the other side won?
Why would one side get multiple chances at getting what they want when you know that the other side wouldnt be getting the same chances?
