The Brad Pitt Family Donates $1 Million To St. John's Hospital

Share

On the heels of Brad Pitt purchasing a very expensive piece of art for his collection, he uses his money to do some good. Doug Pitt announced the Brad Pitt family, Doug and Lisa Pitt and Rob and Julie Neal will donate $1 million to establish an endowment fund to pay cancer specialists at St. John's. In honor of their mother, the center will be renamed St. John's Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center.

The endowment fund will also go toward building a new pediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald house and doubling the size of the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. St. John's is matching the $1 million donation to help fund the expansion.

Kudos to the Pitt family for the donation!

What frightening pictures of Brad.

Angelina has certainly sucked the life out of him.

Im not a fan of Brad, but what his family did is a wonderful thing, why wasn't Angelinas name mentioned..was this just a Pitt family venture?

Age is not his friend...nice gesture though.

That's great.

They actually give their own money, not money they ask other people to donate to their foundation.

I don't see why Angelina's name was left out if she was involved in this. Julie Neal is Brad's sister.

I'm sorry, but this is all about publicity and getting something named after one of them. Why would you give so much to a hospital? Hospitals make crazy amounts of money. Basically they are giving money to pay surgeons more, surgeons who probably already make at least $300K-$1 million a year, and to expand the hospital so that the hospital doesn't have to pay for the expansion. People see a "medical charity" or a donation to a hospital and think it's great- it's not. I urge people not to make donations like this because it simply goes into the pockets of the doctors.

Uh, LP, do you even know what Saint Jude's Hospital is? Try looking it up before you speak. It is a completely free hospital that offers medical care to disadvantaged poor children at NO COST. It is run purely on donations. Saint Jude's makes NO MONEY.

St. JOHN's, not St Jude's Realist. St Jude's is not for profit, but St. Johns is a hospital with a specialization in childrens oncology. And LP, some will go to the surgeon fund but a lot is going toward a new building for families of terminally ill children.

yeah, I realized that after I posted. However, it is affiliated with St. Jude's hospital.

i hope that NONE of that money goes to animal testing
animal experiments hurt humans as well as the animals who are burned, shocked, starved, cut open, and killed.
Alternatives to animal tests are efficient and reliable and, in most cases, take less time to complete, cost only a fraction of the animal experiments they replace, and are not plagued with species differences that make extrapolation difficult or impossible. Today’s most forward-thinking scientists realize that we don’t need to choose between human health and compassion for animals. There are some medical problems that can probably only be cured by testing on unwilling people, but we don’t do it because we recognize that it would be wrong. We need to extend this same concern to other living, feeling beings, regardless of what species they may be.
