It's hard to believe that on Thursday, two Hollywood legends passed away within hours of one another. A three-year-long bout with cancer ended for 62-year-old Farrah Fawcett at a hospital in Los Angeles.
However, her legacy in pop culture will assuredly live on in these iconic images of her from her heyday. The famous poster of Farrah wearing a red, one-piece bathing suit and her trademark hairstyle is one that epitomizes the sexual awakening of the 70s.
The photograph is so powerful, in fact, that according to the pinup's obituary in the New York Times, it "sold more than twice as many copies as posters of Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable combined."
Farrah herself exhibited a sense of humor about her appeal. She once joked about the television series that rocketed her to fame, Charlie's Angels:
"When the show was number three, I figured it was our acting. When it got to be number one, I decided it could only be because none of us wears a bra."
Here's to you, Farrah. All of our Farrah Fawcett coverage can be found here.

on another note...
Farrah was a beautiful woman and it is a sad day when an icon dies. Everyone they ever touched mourns them and prays for a little more peace.
Death is bittersweet.

She left a tragically addicted bullied and belittled son. Hardly a fine iconic example.
