Knowles told the audience, while receiving her prize for Video of the Year, "I remember being 17 years-old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment." From there, Swift finished thanking her fans and gave Beyonce a big hug.
As for Kanye, he was asked to leave the VMAs after his display on stage. Blame it on the A-A-A-A-AL-COHOL, I guess.
Other winners for the evening included rapper T.I., who won the moonman for Best Male Video for his single, "Life Your Life." Best New Artist went to the costume-loving Lady GaGa while Britney Spears accepted her Best Pop Video award for "Womanizer" via a pre-recorded speech.
Eminem's "We Made You" won Best Hip Hop Video and Green Day took home the trophy for Best Rock Video for their video, "21 Guns."
