Picture it: Sydney, Australia, 1986. A fresh-faced Kylie Minogue enters the public eye, frolicking about the set of popular Australian soap, Neighbours. You know, that same soap that made Russel Crowe, Natalie Imbruglia, Guy Pearse, and Delta Goodrem famous?
I'm talking about the Kylie who "Loco-motioned" into our hearts. No one could resist, not even Vanessa Cosby who took up several minutes of one episode to demonstrate, in painful slow-motion, her locomotions at the height of the Kylie's 80's fame. Minogue's voice resurfaced in the US in 2002 with her edgy track, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," which made her more than a one hit wonder around these parts.
What most Americans don't realize is that this little lady has achieved world wide fame. She's a bona fide superstar and a household name pretty much everywhere but here, and if you don't believe me, just ask Jean-Paul Gaultier (see gold costume head piece). He literally thinks the world revolves around her head. Or ask some of the men she's left behind - namely, Olivier Martinez, whose name translates from French to SMOKING HOT.
Kylie kicked off her very first US tour this week in Oakland. The "For You For Me Tour" production looks completely off the hook. The pics say it all: smoke, splits, slits, you name it. Did I mention she's 41, and is still famous (in the best way) for her derrière , her beauty, her style, her voice, and her enigmatic je ne sais quoi? She pretty much epitomizes the rock-star-with-a-cherry-on-top dream.
She opened the show with a warm welcome to her fans: "Well, good evening -- finally. All this anticipation -- on my part!" Oh Ms. Minogue, the anticipation was all ours.

not that anyone cares, but i found my way back to this site a few nights ago and am shocked to see its back to how it used to be a couple years ago and more or less YAY. Anyway I LOVE KYLIE! I wish I were cool enough to get to go to one of the concerts but alas she is not going anywhere near where I live... She has totally aged better than madonna and is def. a better role model for young girls, Even if she is over the top sex appeal she still keeps a little mystery Go Kylie :)
