I'll admit, that before last night I had no idea who this band/singer was and now after listening I am HYPNOTIZED by this woman's voice. Florence + the Machine played an acoustic set at New York's Soho House last night and it was phenomenal.
Fresh from the UK, Florence Welch (who is so humble/adorable) and a guitarist performed songs off the bands debut album Lungs. And lungs this girl definitely has. The girl with the voice of a siren sang a small set, including a cover of "You've Got The Love", but it was not until I heard "Cosmic Love" that I was completely won over. She sounds as if Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan and Amy Lee had a love child of sound. Coupling that with the acoustic set showcased serious talent.
Lungs is available now. Definitely keep a look out for this talented troupe in your city.
