Rapper 50 Cent is very angry at Taco Bell's offer to have him appear in a campaign for the fast food Mexican chain, and is now threatening legal action.

The company offered to make a $10,000 donation to a charity of 50's choice if he agreed to change his name for one day. He would also be required to stop by a Taco Bell and rap his order using a new name -- either 79 cent, 89 cent or 99 cent like their new value menu.

A representative says, "This is a sleazy and ill-conceived publicity stunt by Taco Bell's president, Greg Creed, whose disingenuous offer was leaked to the press before it was even presented to 50 Cent's agent yesterday."

50 Cent said, "When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: 'We messed with the bull and got the horns!'"

What I don't understand is why he is suing? They made an offer, and he refused. Is that illegal? Of course I haven't had to deal with the law nearly as much as 50 Cent. He might be an expert on the subject.

Holy crap is the drama getting good around 50 Cent! The Long Island home from which he has been trying to evict his ex Shaniqua (people are actually named that?) Tompkins from mysteriously burned down this morning. Holy shite. The fire, which authorities have reportedly said was no accident, comes on the heels of a very public dust-up in an attorney's office that then spilled out into the street between 50, his entourage, Shaniqua and lawyers on Monday afternoon.

Six people were taken from the home and treated for smoke inhalation, including Tompkins, and their 10-year-old son Marquise. All have reportedly been released. A source says that 50 isn't a suspect in the fire at this time. But has released a statement via his rep.

"Informed this morning while filming a new motion picture on location in Louisiana, Curtis Jackson expressed deep concern over this fire at his property. He is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely. He is confident that authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and is eager to review their findings."

Okey dokey, Smokey. Shaniqua Tompkins was already ordered by the courts to vacate the house by the end of the school year. 50 Cent had ordered her to begin paying $4,500 in monthly rent. A deposition on Monday afternoon turned ugly when a member of 50's entourage reportedly "trashed" Tompkins' lawyer's office. The crazies involved too it to the street, and 50 allegedly had to be held back from attacking Shaniqua. TMZ has footage of the incident.

Fitty bought the house for 4.2 million in January of 2007. And that's all I'm gonna say because the story kinda speaks for itself. Some shady shit is going down.

50 Cent has cancelled several appearances in Europe that he had planned. I do like that he showed up in Springfield, MA which is like the boondocks but is flipping the bird to the continent. But could this mean since Kanye beat him that he's actually going to retire? No, he probably had a SmartWater Glaceau meeting with Jennifer Aniston or something.

MTV News said the 31-year-old rapper canceled performances at the MOBO Awards and the Vodafone Live Music Awards, both in London on Wednesday, and a performance for MTV in Germany on Friday.

No details were posted on the rapper's Web site, and Polydor Records, 50 Cent's record label in Britain, wasn't immediately available for comment Monday.

MTV said the rapper canceled the appearances due to changes in his schedule.

Kanye West took the no. 1 spot in the UK with his "Graduation" album, and Fitty took second place. So Kanye and his cranky diaper self beat "Curtis" there, too! This has to be humiliating to be a homophobe and be getting your ass kicked by a kinda gayish guy in white plastic Venetian blind sunglasses. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. You know Kanye has passed out a bro job or two in his lifetime. And yes, I meant to write "bro job". It's the latest thing.

Perhaps realizing that Kanye and his baby stroller self are coming out ahead of him in their album sales battle, 50 Cent put on a surprise show in the early AM this morning at the Hippodrome in Springfield, MA. Sorta my area! Most people have an issue with Springfield as a dingy area out in the boonies of western Massachusetts. But Fitty knows his fans are everywhere! He actually had to appear in court for an incident that happened in Springfield in 2004 so maybe it was his way of giving back. Err...

The scheduled concert start time of 7:30 p.m. was routinely ignored by many. Most fans really didn't start queuing up until 9 p.m. Perhaps they knew that 50 Cent was appearing live on BET's "106 & Park" television show in New York at 6:30 p.m. and scheduled to greet fans and sign CDs at a Manhattan Best Buy at 8 p.m.

The rumor mill had his private jet landing at Westover Metropolitan Airport, then Barnes Municipal Airport and Bradley International Airport after the idea of putting a helicopter down on the Connecticut riverfront was scrapped.

Regardless of his travel plans, when 50 Cent hit the stage at 12:45 a.m. flanked by a phalanx of private security and local police officers, the Hippodrome crowd erupted.

"Did they all tell you I was gonna do a show?" the rapper asked. "Because they told me I was just stopping by to say 'hi.'"

Yay for Mass.! Fitty also made some comments about Kanye, and made sure to keep that marketing ploy alive. Damn that's a full night for Fitty. Did they have time to stop at the Wendy's. Was Paris running after the jet? Those photos of her rubbing up on him over this past weekend and Fitty obviously enjoying it and not choking her still haunt us.

If the pre-party is any indication, then the 2007 BET Awards are going to be a whole lot of fun. Sigh. I wish we had been able to get some red-carpet access, luckily, however, I was hooked up with a peek at the gift suite, which I'll be sharing with you guys tomorrow. Mo'Nique will be hosting the show, taking a break from her "Charm School" mistress duties to take on the role of host for the third time. Diana Ross is scheduled to receive a lifetime achievement award and you know with all the "Dreamgirls" nostalgia in the air, it's going to be a splashy event filled with sequins, montages and dance numbers. According to Stephen Hill, executive producer and BET's executive vice president of music programming and talent, the show will be presenting a blend of musical talent from the past and present.

"I think our kind of special ingredient is that it's not just a look back at the past year," says Hill, interrupted as Ciara rehearses in the background. "We really honor our national treasures of music."

Good times. Performances from Diddy, 50 Cent and Beyoncé are expected, as well as numerous other artists. The 2007 BET Awards show airs tonight at 8 p.m. (ET), 7 p.m. (CT).

50 Cent recently hit pay dirt when the parent company of Vitamin Water, Glaceau, was purchased by Coca-Cola. The buy-out was for $4.1 billion, and 50's ownership in the company has earned him $100 million in one fell swoop. And his baby-mama, Shaniqua Tompkins, was thrilled to hear the news. Tompkins, who is the mother of the couple's 10-year-old son, Marquise Jackson, is anxious discuss 50's altered financial situation and how it will affect his child support payments for Marquise in court.
