Adam Lambert Visits 'The Early Show' & Won't Apologize

Share

During his interview on The Early Show, American Idol star, Adam Lambert, did a good job defending his American Music Awards performance, in my opinion.

Click on the "Continue reading" link to see videos of Adam on The Early Show.

The singer confessed, "I admit I did get carried away, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it."

When pressed by the interviewer about what he thought children viewing the show would think, Lambert said that at 11 p.m., he would assume most children would be in bed. "I think it's up to the parents to discern what their child's watching on television," he stated, when asked whether or not he should apologize.

Lambert pointed out that during her performance that same evening, Lady GaGa smashed whiskey bottles, Janet Jackson groped a male dancer and Eminem rapped about rape. Adam also noted, "Janet Jackson, crotch grab. I haven't heard one peep about that."

Also, it's not like he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.

Adam Lambert Debuts New Video & Enjoys Good Album Sales

Share

His Good Morning America appearance scheduled for this morning might have been canceled, but that hasn't slowed down American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert.

The gothic-glam singer just debuted a sexy new music video for his single, "For Your Entertainment." Complete with a dark, underground dance club full of writhing, scantily-clad dancers, leather and fishnets, the video is pure Adam.

(Make sure to check out the video by clicking the "Continue reading" link!)

Despite numerous complaints phoned in to ABC after Lambert's controversial American Music Awards performance, sales for the singer's album, For Your Entertainment, have been stellar since its release on Monday. In fact, it quickly overtook soundtrack The Twilight Saga: New Moon, on Apple's iTunes album charts when it rose to No. 4.

Well, like the man says, he's doing it for our entertainment.

Adam Lambert 'GMA' Concert Canceled After 'AMA' Fiasco

Share

During his stint on American Idol, Adam Lambert's performances were typified with glitz, glamor and over-the-top theatricals. However, his recent sexually-charged performance at the American Music Awards--complete with an impromptu make out sesh on stage with his male keyboard player--has proven to be too much for Good Morning America.

Lambert's concert for the morning talk show scheduled for Wednesday has consequently been canceled with a rep for ABC explaining, "Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning." Back in August, Lambert sang the Muse song "Starlight," without incident, but it seems GMA is concerned he might be planning some spontaneous antics.

I can understand their hesitation. I like to make sure that I've had a stiff cup of coffee before I am subjected to that much eyeliner and pelvic thrusts. Fergie, the same goes for you.

2009 American Music Awards: Men

Share

Per usual, Ne-Yo led the pack of men at the American Music Awards last night with a decidedly dapper look befitting a gentleman. The R&B singer sported his trademark hat and fitted suit, along with a pair of black-rimmed glasses and a "too cool for school" facial expression.

Perez Hilton didn't disappoint in an awkward white suit, white-blond pompadour and severe eyebrows. Ice cream, anyone? On the opposite end of the spectrum, Chris Daughtry showed up in standard alt-rock uniform of jeans, leather and man cleavage.

Representing for the Jackson family, along with sister Janet Jackson, Jermaine Jackson donned a black silk suit and as an homage to his late brother, Michael Jackson, he accessorized it with a single, sparkly white glove.

But to keep things from getting too mournful, Captain Morgan showed up with a pair of perky wenches on his arm, making sure that things stayed light.

So, who looked better at the 2009 American Music Awards, the men or the ladies?

Adam Lambert Gets Hot & Heavy At 2009 American Music Awards

Share

Looking very much buttoned-up in a clean-cut silver suit, Adam Lambert quickly dispelled the notion that he had any intention of keeping his sexuality under wraps when he took to the stage of this year's American Music Awards. The singer performed the title track of his debut album, For Your Entertainment, in a sexually-charged demonstration on stage.

The American Idol runner-up grabbed a dancer by the ankles and dragged her on stage, walked male dancers on stage as if they were leashed dogs and even took a break from singing to make out with his keyboard player--supposedly a straight guy. And of course, all of this was punctuated with lots of pelvic thrusts.

However, Adam claims that his guy-on-guy kiss was "in the moment" and not something that he had planned to do on stage. Before press could react to the display, Lambert told the Rolling Stone backstage, "Female performers have been doing this for years--pushing the envelope about sexuality--and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out."

He added that criticism was tantamount to "a form of discrimination and a double standard." Especially if you're criticizing his singing.

Taylor Swift Wins Big! - 2009 American Music Awards Wrap Up

Share

However Taylor Swift was not there, but she's apparently incredibly popular. She beat out Michael Jackson to win Entertainer of the Year and took home a total of five American Music Awards.

The highlight of the night for me was Whitney Houston's performance of "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." While the rasp was present throughout the performance, the girl knows how to command a stage. She belted out the performance until she was almost out of breath. It was a powerful moment.

Michel Jackson ended up with four awards. Other multiple winners included hip-hop acts Jay-Z and the Black Eyed Peas, with two each.

The Black Eyed Peas were named favorite group in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. Jay-Z won favorite male artist and favorite album in the rap/hip-hop categories.

Punk rock trio Green Day was named favorite alternative artist. Rascal Flatts won favorite country group for the fourth year in a row.

Adam Lambert: 2009 American Music Awards

Of course, when Adam Lambert puts on a suit and tie, it's never as simple of an outfit as it sounds. The American Idol runner-up jazzed up his ensemble with some sparkly earrings, heavy eye make-up and loads of thick rings on his fingers.

His jet-black hair was swooped up into a fancy pompadour for the 2009 American Music Awards, which he accessorized with a wink and a smile.

Eccentric Adam Lambert "For Your Entertainment"

Share

Adam Lambert, season eight "American Idol" runner-up, is the glam rocker with rule breaking style and crooning vocals. In an interview with Reuters, Lambert details the where "American Idol" exposure has lead him; his music, his way; and his debut album "For Your Entertainment" releasing Nov 23.

Lambert describes "For Your Entertainment" as having throwback elements reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. And although he's known for his classic rock on "Idol", the majority of tracks are commercial pop. That doesn't mean he's giving up the glam rocker inbred in him. He intends on filling the male performer role needed, keeping to theatrical and over the top performances. Just look at the album cover, which he calls a "whole David Bowie-Ziggy Stardust thing where you think he is an alien."

Although he found success in musical theater, making the decision to audition for "Idol" gave him the opportunity he sought. "I wanted to be more active in the creation of what I was performing... I just wanted to make my own thing," said Lambert. Since then he's become a recognizable face, making headlines when he publicly announced he was gay and enjoying the life of a Hollywood.

Still, Lambert claims, "when I'm just living my own day-to-day life, I roll out of bed and I'm a guy." Hmm... a guy who wears eyeliner, four finger rings, blue plaid shirt, black nail polish, and black calf length boots. Blaming it on promotional stuff, Lambert really know how to optimize girl time!

"I'm nice. But I'm weird. Maybe eccentric is a better word. I'll pick that label."

Us Weekly Hot Hollywood 2009 Party Honors All Kinds Of Hotties

Share

Having just celebrated the launch of her new album, Echo, Leona Lewis made her way over to the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood 2009 Party to get her due for Chanteuse of the Year. Fellow reality TV singer, Adam Lambert was also recognized as Glam God of the Year and lived up to his title in his shiny pants, leather jacket, lots of jewelry and eyeliner.

Kristin Cavallari was given the title of Comeback of the Year and showed up the event looking skinny as hell. She was dressed in all black and as we know, that color has a slimming effect, and she's already plenty thin as it is.

Of course, it was LaToya Jackson who stole the show, wearing a bright orange jacket that perfectly matched her nails. I'm glad to see that she didn't let a little thing like an invitation stop her from having a good time!

The full list of honorees are after the jump.
