Usually, it's a horse of a different color the singer is riding. Or some unsuspecting person.

Amy Winehouse mounted her trusty steed while on vacation in St. Lucia. The singer embarked upon a sunset ride on the beach accompanied by a female friend.

Donning her favorite pair of denim cutoff shorts and a midriff-baring white tank, Amy left her beehive at home, lest the damn thing fly off into the ocean. Because you know this has happened to her before. In fact, I think it might have even applied for asylum here in the U.S.

Amy Winehouse traded in the bug-infested soul sistah beehive for mangy, insect-ridden dreads. All the Caribbean, ghanja-smoking got Amy in touch with her inner Bob Marley, and the record label is none too pleased about the reggae-inflected sounds on her third album.

A source told The Sun that while Amy was a super "productive" in St. Lucia, most of the songs written "aren't hitting the mark."

"She seems to have ditched her trademark vintage soul sound and is now heavily influenced by reggae. Her bosses don't think it's a wise move to change her style so sharply and have told her that."

We're not so sure about this previous "style" they speak of. A dazed, stoned Amy sounds like a fresh breath of moocah air compared to the strung out London street rat of yesteryear.

Regardless, the label thinks this mellower Amy will be too confusing to her fans.

"It's crucial Amy's return is handled properly. "If she puts out a record that is in any way half-baked, that could severely damage her long-term prospects, so everyone's focus at the minute is getting it right, even if that means telling Amy some things she probably won't want to hear."

Hey, remember that Seinfeld episode where Kramer wants to get a tan to impress his new girlfriend's family? And then he ends up falling asleep in the tanning bed and shows up to her parents' place all burned and lobster-like?

Ha. Yeah. That was a good one.

According to the Mirror, Amy Winehouse's life imitated art when she took a hungover nap in her home tanning bed and emerged a nice crimson color with "raw and puffy" eyes. The source said:

"Amy has recently had a sunbed installed in her new house and was keen to try it out. She's developed quite a solid base colour from her two- month holiday in St Lucia so assumed she'd be fine. Sadly, she'd had a bit of a heavy night the evening before and was a little too relaxed by the time she clambered into the bed - and promptly fell asleep. Luckily, the bed has an automatic timer which goes off after 20 minutes - otherwise the results could have been really horrific. As it was, she emerged badly burnt, with her eyes particularly affected. Within an hour, her eyelids were red raw and puffy, and she was feeling in real pain. She wanted to call the doctor but was a little embarrassed. Poor Amy is mortified. Not to mention sore. All in all, it wasn't a great weekend."

Oh, what we would do for a visual to go along with this delightful tale. But the biggest concern? Why in God's name is Amy Winehouse bashful about a little sunburn?

This is the same woman who cavorted topless in St. Lucia, stole drinks and hissed at tourists,  terrorized the streets of Camden cracked out in dirty ballet flats and assaulted a man on a plane for looking at her.

And she's coy about a sunburn?

The momentarily new and improved Amy Winehouse will face the music - a different kind - this month when she is arraigned on charges of common assault for allegedly punching a fan.

Not to be confused with the chick she punched at the Glastonbury Music Festival, the "f***king bitch" she smacked on the streets of Camden this summer, or the airplane passenger she sprang at last week, this attack happened at London's End of Summer Ball in September.

According to the victim, dancer Sherene Flash, Amy was happy to pose with her for one photo, but when Sherene brought over another camera-toting friend, the pressure was simply too much for the fragile crack addict.  Striking Sherene in the arm and face, Amy ran away screaming "Life can't go on. I can't do this anymore."

Although, I'm guessing it sounded a bit more like "Liasldflhac go anne. I caandsdf fuckin adsljamore!"  If you were actually there.

Back in London from a two-month rehab of sorts, Amy Winehouse looked almost reborn yesterday when she was spotted satisfying her sweet tooth at a local market in London.  Don't judge, serial dieters: this is like broccoli to our little crackhead. 

There were shades of the past - Amy's tiny shorts, a pair of pink slippers, and of course that big beehive, but this time there didn't even appear to be things living inside it.  And in contrast with the icky impetigo days, her complexion looked clear and almost pretty, thanks to a few St. Lucia-kissed freckles. 

Despite the aerial setback Amy experienced on Monday, the rehab-repeat appears to be serious about getting her life back in order.  Already she's moved out of Camden - her old stomping grounds - and into an elaborate $2 million home in suburban Barnet, near where her mother lives.  Hopefully this will give her poor parents time to intercept any epileptic heroin cravings that take over.

Amy Winehouse finally threw in the crusty bikini top and hopped on a plane back to London to con her way back into Blake Fielder-Civil's good graces.

Unfortunately, Blake's single, ready to jingle, and no longer sees Amy's hive and snaggle teeth in rose-colored lenses. In fact, he may skip town to avoid her altogether.

Anyway, Amy's back to her old tricks. She acted like a true Charm School graduate when she started a "plane fight."

Amy, looking elegant and ravishing as always, accused some poor guy of "giving her the eye." She then starting attacking him and had to be "pulled off" the passenger after she "lost it."

Yikes. Terrorism on a plane indeed.

"Amy went wild. She thought this guy was giving her strange looks and just lost it. She was nervous about coming back and seeing Blake so it didn't take much to push her over the edge."

Good to see that 71-day vacation ironed out all the kinks. Welcome back, Ames.

-If you've ever stepped in a pile of doggie poo and thought to yourself, "Dammit, who the hell didn't clean up after their pet?" You would absolutely not be talking about Charlize Theron. Taking a walk on the beach in Malibu, Theron dutifully scooped up after her doggies after their little jaunt. And just look how she carries that baggie in her hand like it's a thousand-dollar Dior clutch. Now THAT is what a professional model looks like.

-Now, Evangeline Lilly is going out of her way to make sure that no Lost fans think she's leaving the show. The star told E!, "I am very happy on Lost and have no reason to look anywhere else for a home."

-Blake Fielder-Civil and Amy Winehouse have been leading very separate lives for some time now and he's looking to make sure their relationship stays that way. Fielder-Civil is reportedly pushing for a divorce from his 25-year-old songbird wife and is even planning to leave the U.K. "His mum Georgette plans to sell up and get Blake to another country. They don't want to squander all the hard work," a source told The Sun.

You know, when we saw the above headline we thought (*shrug*) why the hell not? Amy Winehouse has already practically taken over the island and copulated with most of it's tourists, at least give that poor resort a break and hit her up for some property taxes.

Shoot, make her pony up and buy her own booze for once.

According to The Sun, Amy's extended alcohol-ful and marijuana-a-plenty stay on the island has upped her health from crackhead on a death bed to just your normal liver-wrecked, pot head. It's an improvement. It is.

"Amy loves it over there and being away from it all has helped her hugely in her fight against drugs. She has been drinking and smoking cannabis but is still a million times better than she was in Camden. Her family think the best way to keep her out of trouble is to have a house in the suburbs and a place in the Caribbean where she can totally get away."

This place in the suburbs is a new home in leafy suburb Hadley Wood, North London. Good thing, too. Seeing as her Camden landing pad was burglarized last month.

Perhaps this is going to be the new era of sunshine-loving, joint smoking, Red Stripe drinking Amy. All she needs is some dreads and reggae album. We're down with this.

-Rumor has it that Chace Crawford is engaged in an undercover romance with model/actress Sarah Bradford. The younger sister of Matt Damon saved a front row seat for the Gossip Girl star, who ended up unable to to attend the event.

-Amy Winehouse has been hospitalized after collapsing on vacation on the island of St. Lucia. The singer reportedly ran out of a drug replacement. A witness claims, "She looked in a terrible state, a shaking mess. The people with her were very concerned."

-Jennifer Aniston is looking for a beauty endorsement deal. Her reps refuse to comment, but it sounds about right. Everybody else has one, so why not her?
