An acquaintance of Anna Nicole Smith's, Laurie Payne, who spent a great deal of time with Anna at the time of her preganancy, revealed in sealed court documents what she'd witnessed during that time. According to Payne, Anna admitted to her in phone calls and instand messages that Larry Birkhead is the father of her daughter. Additionally, Payne stated that Smith was taking both methadone and Xanax during the time of her pregnancy. However, despite the very juicy gossip this information contains, the best part of Payne's testimony was in reference to Smith's son, Daniel, and Howard K. Stern. From TMZ:

As for Howard K. Stern, Smith's lawyer who is listed as the baby's father on her birth certificate, Payne says Anna Nicole Smith herself said he wasn't the father. Payne says in her declaration: "I asked her why she did not just go into a relationship with Stern, to which (Anna Nicole) responded, 'EWWW...GROSS!!! No way!! I would never!'" According to the declaration, during Christmas, 2005, Stern began to tease Anna Nicole's son Daniel "about being a 19-year-old virgin." Payne says, "....Daniel looked at Stern and stated, 'I don't know why you're worried about me, you've been around my mother for 12 years and haven't had any p*ssy either."

Damn. That's one less smart-ass in the world. Makes his passing even more of a shame, as far as I'm concerned.

A second lawsuit has been initiated against Anna Nicole Smith by her ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, who claims that he is the father of her daughter. Birkhead has been trying to get a paternity test taken to determine the parentage of Smith's 6-week old baby girl and alleges, in the suit, fraud and conspiracy. It is his belief that Anna's stay in the Bahamas has been to avoid dealing with the preceding legal proceedings. From Yahoo! News:

In the new lawsuit, Birkhead alleges Smith provided fraudulent information when applying for her daughter's birth certificate in the Bahamas. Smith identified her lawyer, Howard K. Stern, as the father. The lawsuit asks that Stern's name be deleted from the girl's birth certificate and replaced with Birkhead's. "I am the father of Dannielynn and I think this is ... a crime," Birkhead said outside court Thursday. "I expect to be reunited with my daughter with the help of my attorneys." A hearing in the paternity lawsuit scheduled for Thursday was delayed until early next week. "It will be up to this government entity to pursue any criminal investigation against either Anna Nicole Smith and or Howard K. Stern," Opri said.

Expect emancipation proceedings to begin for Dainnelynn in approximately ten years, from whomever happens to end up being her legal guardian. That...is my prediction.

Anna Nicole Smith's methods for becoming a Bahamian are being called into question. According to MSNBC.com:

The "fast-tracking" of Smith's residency in the island nation has caused a political uproar there, with accusations being hurled that Smith's application for citizenship was moved to the top of a long list after her $10,000 check was delivered to the personal home of the Bahamas' immigration minister, Shane Gibson. Photographer Larry Birkhead -- who claims that he's the father of Smith's newly-born daughter -- recently told MSNBC's Rita Cosby that Smith fled to the Bahamas "to avoid any talks of custody and visitation." Calling the approval of Smith's residency a "sordid affair," the Bahaman Free National Movement alleges that Smith was given residency in a stunningly short three weeks. But Minister Gibson calls his critics "dishonest" and "disingenuous," and insists that Smith's residency took three months.

Still, it's not like three months is that long either. This all seems extremely fishy.

Larry Birkhead, Anna Nicole Smith's photographer ex-boyfriend who claims to be the father of her baby girl, has gone to court to force Anna to come back to Californi and take a paternity test. Birkhead claims that Anna Nicole's secret lifestyle is not conducive to raising a child and would shock the American public. From E! News Online:

Birkhead announced his move during an interview with MSNBC's Rita Cosby, who first reported the news. According to Cosby, Birkhead's lawsuit contains some very "damning" allegations, including the claim that Smith was taking methadone and that her attorney and, as it turns out, love interest, Howard K. Stern, has been facilitating her habit. Smith's ex also accused her of fleeing to the Bahamas to have her baby to avoid being tested for drugs. Birkhead further alleged that Stern is claiming that he is Dannielynn's father for his own financial gain--and that Smith had asked a third man to claim he was the father of her child, only the plan didn't work out because the man in question had already had a vasectomy.

I'm still waiting for the good news about this whole situation. If there is any. I guess if you're Bobby Trendy it means Star magazine decides to finally return your calls.

Due to the lack of any legally binding terms, the commitment ceremony in which Anna Nicole Smith and her longtime lawyer, Howard K. Stern, exchanged vows still doesn't mean the couple are married. With Smith's son yet to be buried, it seems this ceremonial declaration of love may simply be part of Anna's grieving process--strangely fitting for a situation that already seems fraught with tragedy, confusion and odd behavior. According to the New York Daily News:

The couple "exchanged vows before God," while their posh rented boat was anchored off Blackbeard's Cay in Nassau, but they didn't obtain a marriage license, Smith's Bahamian lawyer, Michael Scott, told The Associated Press. "It was not a formal, legal arrangement," Scott said. Speedboats carried Dom Perignon Champagne and other party supplies out to the catamaran, according to Star magazine. After the ceremony, the buxom bride, who was clad in a pink bikini, and her partying guests took a swim around the boat, Star reported. Smith's ex-squeeze Larry Birkhead - who insists he's the baby's father - said news of the ceremony didn't surprise him. "That's not a grief-stricken mother. He [Stern] wants to take over paternity and that's his maneuver," Birkhead told Star. "Nothing shocks me now. It gets crazier and crazier."

To which I'd like to tell Larry Birkhead, yeah, shit's pretty crazy. But let's not act like you're not part of it.

Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son died from the accidental effect of methadone and two antidepressant drugs interacting in his system, according to a prominent American pathologist who conducted a private autopsy. The low levels of the three drugs detected by toxicology tests indicated Daniel Smith died "a tragic, accidental, drug-related death," Dr. Cyril Wecht told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

This autopsy managed to clear up some of the mystery behind the cause of death for the young man, but there appears to be even more intrigue surrounding Anna Nicole Smith, as two men come forward to claim fatherhood of her newborn baby girl. Both her long-time lawyer, Howard K. Stern as well as on-again, off-again boyfriend Larry Birkhead claim that they are the father of 3-week old, Dannie Lynn Hope.

With all the confusion and grief surrounding this horrible, horrible tragedy, it's hard not to wish for these days to come back.

Natural causes of the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel, were eliminated after a second autopsy was performed on the deceased 20-year old. However, the cause of death still remains a mystery. Here are some details about the autopsy from Yahoo! News:

Cyril Wecht, a forensic pathologist who gained fame as a critic of the government's probe into John F. Kennedy's assassination and as a consultant in Elvis Presley's death, ruled out several potential natural causes including heart disease, stroke or a "congenital anomaly." He also affirmed findings by Bahamas investigators that foul play did not appear to be involved in the young man's death, which was labeled "suspicious" by the coroner's office because the cause was still unclear. He said he has requested Daniel Smith's medical records from the United States and ordered further tests that could take weeks to complete. He said he had sent samples to a lab in the United States for further examination, including toxicology tests. "I don't find anything that would cause me to believe there is something in terms of some traumatic injury that was inflicted, or somebody having done something to him in some cryptic manner that could not be observed," Wecht told reporters outside the morgue where he performed the procedure.

Adding to the mystery of the situation is the fact that Anna has not publicly revealed the identity of the father of her newborn daughter. However, Larry Birkhead claims that he is the father of Anna's baby and that Anna is trying to keep his child from him. From Fox News:

Thanks to Howard K. Stern, and his undivided obsession attention to Anna Nicole Smith and her "well being," we now have confirmation that Anna Nicole Smith is pregnant. After Anna's lawyer, Howard K. Stern, bashed the rumored to be father (pictured above) of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, the cat was let out of the bag.

Howard K. Stern tells TMZ emphatically, "Anna wants that guy completely out of her life and obviously he is having trouble dealing with it." He also said, "You'll be able to find out soon enough [if she's pregnant]," but would not elaborate beyond that.

A source says Stern may be denying the pregnancy rumor because it would take the thunder out of an official announcement from Smith-- an announcement we're told she believes is worth a serious amount of money.

UPDATE 5:45PM ET: Larry Birkhead read Stern's response to TMZ and adds: "I was not going to discuss the matter publicly, but since Howard K. Stern is attempting to bash me... I have been told that I am expecting a child, I have seen the ultrasound and have spoken to doctors. I am very excited about the possibility of becoming a father. Howard needs to get past his own jealousy about the relationship between myself and his only client."

What will Howard K. Stern do if Anna Nicole Smith never receives any money from the estate of her late husband. I guess it will be then time to find a second client.
