SJP Wins Oscar Wrapped In A Tin Ribbon

http://aslcdn.celebuzz.com/images/2008/03/showest-awards-pics-031408-37-thumb.jpg

Sarah Jessica Parker holds up the Vanguard Award she received at the ShoWest film awards in Las Vegas. It's not exactly the most notable of acting awards, but it is a good excuse for stars promoting movies to pump their statue in the air, thank God and their agents for their award and add, "Don't forget to see my other movie!"

And speaking of the statue in question, whoah. This one looks kind of wacky--exactly how I would expect an award that you would win in Vegas would look. It probably popped out of a slot machine. That swirly metal thing looks chintzy and I bet that if you held it too long, it would turn your fingers green. I doubt any winners were anecdotally gushing about how they'd be keeping this puppy in their bathroom. It's straight to the garage sale for this guy.

Robert Downey Jr. also won an award, looking endearingly goofy in his expensive jeans and blazer, Jodie Foster, having had shaken her stalker off her trail, looked stunning in a simple, summery dress with Nim's Island co-star Abigail Breslin. Kate Bosworth still looks thin and uncomfortable, probably still chafing from this wacky ensemble and now dressed as an 80s mobster mistress in mourning. Isn't her life story the one on which this Alyssa Milano movie is based?

And I kid you not, Brendan Fraser took home the Distinguished Decade of Achievement in Film award. And I would scoff, except that I've been on the Revenge of the Mummy ride at Universal Studios and it is both distinguished and an achievement.

Oscar! Oscar! Oscar!: The Ladies

http://aslcdn.celebuzz.com/images/2008/02/oscar_red_carpet_022508_157-thumb.jpg

As previously mentioned, it was a snoozy Oscars this year. You could have driven a car through the space between Amy Adams' breasts, but eh. Marion Cotillard looked totally hot in this mermaid type fish scale dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. I'm still trying to figure out why Hannah Montana was there. For real, is she an Academy member? Was it just Miley Cyrus product placement? She looked way older than 15. I mean, she wasn't wearing pasties or anything but some dude could get the wrong idea. She's barely out of freshman year! Stay on the tour bus and write in your rainbow journal. A lot of oldies dominated this year, like Helen Mirren, Ruby Dee, and Julie Christie. These women wore sorta fug outfits but wore them with class. Tilda Swinton wore a big tall black velvet bag but she could have worn a bikini made of fudge and still looked avant-garde and icy and beautiful. Katherine Heigl has a serious case of stagefright during the show, and usually she ticks me off with her holier-than-thou bullshit but I thought she looked hot in fire engine red. I've already discussed Alba and her wine. Keri Russell has this pale swan thing going on. And the standout chick was Diablo Cody who wore this feline giraffe type outfit that showed off her gigantic tattoos. We need more strippers on the red carpet. Kimora Lee Simmons doesn't count.

Jennifer Lopez Needs To Ease Up On Herself

Jennifer Lopez showed off the twins (not THOSE twins, pervs) at the Marchesa show at Fashion Week. She told reporters that she's "feeling good" during her pregnancy and refuses to wear sweats at home. She said ""people make fun of me because when I do have them over to my house I do have a dress on," she laughs. "I don't like the way the sweats look with the extra weight. I like to feel good about myself even at home." That's kind of demented. So she's waddling around her crib in a full ball gown everyday just so she can pretend she's not pregnant. She's going to warp those children's minds. If I was a woman, and knocked up, people would be lucky if I even put a johnny on to answer the damn door. Everything would be about comfort and my own needs. If I have to carry two humans IN ME, all bets are off. There is no way in hell I would be dressing like it's the goddamn prom.

Joss Stone Still Rocking the Rainbrow Brite Look at Fashion Week

fashion_week_020408_39.jpg

Joss Stone sure likes her bright colors. The British singer is getting cheeky here, with her tongue stuck out at Fashion Week in New York. The Miss Sixty fashion show attracted a host of wacky fashionistas known more for their interesting personal style: Ashley Olsen, Chloë Sevigny, Milla Jovovich and Kirsten Dunst. Oh wait, that's actually Susan Sarandon. My bad.

Mandy Moore is there in a yellow trench coat and maybe the lighting for the pictures is just weird, but I'm not a big fan of the color. However, I am a big fan of Mandy and think I might need to copy that haircut.

Vincent Gallo creeps me out (despite the fact that I actually do like a good chunk of his work) and showed up wearing a pimp hat and what I think is a Freemasons symbol. Interesting.

Also, Rose McGowan showed up rocking some red hair and I couldn't get a close look at her face, but I'm hoping that she's eased up on all the alterations.

Dolce & Gabbana's New Fragrance Has Rendered Matthew McConaughey Pensive

mm_header_120507.jpg

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have taken "A Socialite's Life" OVER today! They are everywhere! They are running up and down our cyberhalls, peering at our site and standing back with one hand on their hips and the other pursing a judgemental and manicured finger in front of their mouths. Finally they wave us away saying "thees iz no goot. we need sometheeng with more SPEER-ET! Sometheeng with more LIFE! Sometheeng..more...VAGINE-AL! Yes, this is what we need! We need the begeening of everything! You do that and get back to us!" And then they're off. Probably to something like the VIP dinner they had in New York last night to celebrate the launch of their new men's fragrance. Matthew McConaughey, Eva Mendes, Rosario Dawson, Michael Stipe and others were present for the celebration of D&G's latest triumph. McConaughey, in particular, lavished Dolce and Gabanna with praise such as "I've just always liked their suits basically. For me, they've always been a good mix of being hip but still classic, which is what I like." D&G's newest boutique also opened yesterday in Manhattan. The United States of D&G! Ok, it's totally obvious that I'm hoping some D&G staffer in NYC actually reads this blog, takes pity on my style-deficient ass, and sends me a handkerchief or something. Anyone? Are you out there? Maybe even the security guard at their offices? Don't tell me I wrote three posts about them for nothing!

Christopher Reeve's "A Magical Evening" Remembers a Fallen Superman

reeves_111307_0012.jpg

It's a gala-extravaganza with yet another event for us to report of stars using their celebrity to raise awareness for their pet causes. The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation held their annual fundraising event in New York yesterday, entitled, "A Magical Evening." Here, we've got resident crazy, Robin Williams, most likely in between impersonations of Elmer Fudd and/or his stock Gospel preacher character so near and dear to his heart. "The Devil Wears Prada" co-stars Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep were also present at the event, all ivory-skinned and classy. In addition to honors being paid to the Reeve couple, Lee and Bob Woodruff, and Meryl Streep were also being lauded that evening.

"I knew him for a long time, many, many years," said Meryl Streep of Reeve. "I'm very, very honored to be here, and I'm a little humbled, because I feel like I'm standing in light that [Christopher and Dana Reeve] cast. They just really were like a lighthouse for this issue, and so charismatic and so effective in their advocacy."
It was a very dignified, mature evening, which unfortunately spun out of control when Wilmer Valderrama and Robin Williams challenged each other to a "Yo Momma" competition. Somehow, they both managed to lose.

Quick Hits: Anne Hathaway Has Standards

Anne Hathaway Likes Expensive Things

Anne Hathaway-Bf 050407 01

Or at least her boyfriend Raffaelo Follieri likes spending tons of money on Anne. The thing is that the money that Forlleri is lavishing on Hathaway, may not be Forlleri's own. Billionaire Ron Burkle is suing him for allegedly taking $55 million of Burkle's company's money and going to town.

According to the lawsuit, filed in Delaware Chancery Court, Follieri spent at least some of the gigantic money pile on private jet travel for himself and Hathaway, dog care for their Labrador Esmerelda, monster shopping at Prada and Fendi, and an executive chef, among other extravagances. The money was supposed to be poured into development of land purchased from the Catholic Church, which is Follieri's business specialty. Burkle, a fatcat Democrat, counts Bill Clinton as a friend, and was among recent bidders for the Los Angeles Times.
Unfortunately, there is more bad news for Anne Hathaway regarding her boyfriend. He may be cheating on her. Those details are after the jump.

Anne Hathaway Compares Self To La Lohan

Why anyone would do that willingly is beyond me, but whatevs. In what I think is an attempt of the well-behaved sibling to detract the negative attention from the black sheep of the family, Anne Hathaway recently said that under the surface, she probably shares more similarities with the hard-partying, rehabbing young starlet than most would assume at first glance. From People:

"You know, Lindsay [Lohan] and I have a lot more in common than people think," she says in an interview with the UK's The Sunday Times. "We've all done things we shouldn't, it's just I did stuff at college, when nobody knew about it, so I'm not a saint."
She also added:
"I wasted time doing self-destructive things but it didn't work. I found out you can only dance on so many tabletops. I got that all out of my system and now I'm healthy and I'm grounded."
I appreciate Anne's attempt to reach out to Lindsay and perhaps try to help alleviate the public scrutiny on the woman, but dancing on tabletops at college is a little different than a hard-core cocaine habit, possible eating disorder and/or cutting one's self repeatedly. I mean, I'm no expert, but it's just a thought.

For Anne Hathaway, It Used To Be All About Depression

Annehathaway020607
(WENN)

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist a punny homage to my favorite Herpes medication commercials in that title--just because I'm a retard. When "The Devil Wears Prada" actress spoke with Britain's Tatler magazine, she touched upon the subject of her teenaged depression. From People:

"I am sorry she was hurting for so long. It's all so negatively narcissistic to be so consumed with self."
The actress is the latest celebrity to discuss depression recently, joining Mandy Moore and Zach Braff.
I just wonder if all of these peeps have being an awkward teenager confused with being depressed. Cause if that's the case, I was depressed too. Wait a minute, I guess that makes me STILL depressed. At least I have a slightly better haircut now, I guess. And I'm old.
