As you've heard by now Ashlee Simpson was given the axe by execs at Melrose Place but rebounded quickly with a gig reprising the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago, but this time on Broadway. The starlet previously played the part in the West End back in 2006.

If you recall Jessica Simpson twittered Melrose Place was "crap" upon Ashlee getting kicked to the curb, a comment I don't totally disagree with, though her motivation is suspect. This time around Jessica is twittering support for her younger sister and Ashlee's new role writing, "I can't wait to watch @ashsimpsonwentz on broadway in all her glory!!! I get chillbumps from toes to noggin thinking about it!! YAY!!!!"

It seems that all is going well on stage. Ashlee twittered "just finished second CHICAGO rehearsal. Man I love the theater and putting my dancing shoes back on!!"

On a side note- can anyone tell me what happened to Heather Locklear's face? I, of course, tuned into her much anticipated return to Melrose Place and was frightened. Why is no one talking about the botox and lip injections gone wrong?!

Beautiful baby boy of Melrose Place starlet Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, Bronx, turned 1 year old on Friday.

The day was overflowing with love as Bronx's aunt Jessica Simpson took to Twitter to wish him a very special birthday writing, "Bronx is 1 today!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!! I can't believe it has been a year already."

Mom and Dad got in on the Twitter well wishes too. Ashlee wrote, "BX's 1st bday tomorrow! My angel is going to be a year!! The greatest year of my life." Poppa Wentz joked, "Happy birthday bx. You don't have twitter and can't read this. Thanks to all my friends that recorded lullabies. Can't believe its been a year."

I love this family! They are too too cute and I can't help but want to pinch Bronx's chubby cheeks all day long!

Colin Egglesfield tells E! Online that he and his Melrose Place co-star, Ashlee Simpson, will be engaging in a "crazy naked" sex scene to help the twosome depart from the series. Egglesfield describes the look by saying, "It involves us both wearing half-loin cloths that they had to tape to us. There are very few clothes involved in the near future."

E! Online also says an inside source indicates that there will, in fact, be two hot love scenes between the troubled characters in which they are almost completely nude. While this is all very sexy for the two, Colin cautions, "Things get pretty violent and kind of crazy. Auggie ends up hitting the bottle and falls off the deep end a little bit."

Sounds like the perfect evening of television for the Simpson-Wentz family to gather round the television and watch together over a cup of hot cocoa.

Ashlee Simpson is bouncing back after getting fired from Melrose Place. The singer/actress is joining the Broadway production of Chicago as Roxie Hart for six weeks beginning in December.

Gossip Cop reports that Fran and Barry Weissler, the show's producers, were really pleased with Simpson's performance in London, and had wanted her for some time to reprise the role.

Way to land back on your feet Ashlee!

A snitch tells the National Enquirer that Ashlee Simpson is so upset over being let go from the CW series, Melrose Place, that she is "teetering on the edge of an emotional breakdown."

The 25-year-old is reportedly so thin because she's living on energy drinks and nuts. And as a result of her sudden unemployment, she is "devastated." An insider claims, "Ashlee didn't see it coming, and now she's crushed. She invested her heart and soul into the job. She feels like the rug has been pulled out from under her."

While the official reason for Ashlee leaving is being cited as the producers simply wanting to go in a different direction, a source tells Us Weekly, "She's the worst actress, but nobody will tell her." Another claims that Ashlee was brought on in order to get press for the CW series, but "she was embarrassingly bad. Producers cut her down as much as possible."

At least Ashlee still has one staunch fan in her sister, Jessica Simpson. On her Twitter page on Sunday, Jess writes, "CW catching up on MP.who writes this crap?i have had bad scripts to work with,but this?thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press."

That's very sweet of Jessica--especially considering her sister likes to taunt her with her baby.

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that Melrose Place actors, Colin Egglesfield and Ashlee Simpson, have been let go from the CW series.

He chatted with executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. As Slavkin explains the choice to oust the twosome, "Well, we always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12. And we always knew that [Ashlee's] character of Violet would be instrumental in that as a suspect, and [Colin's character of] Augie as well. And once that murder mystery was solved, she would go on her way."

As for how Ashlee and Coline reacted to the news, Todd claims, "They're total professionals and they took it like professionals...But because they knew ahead of time [that leaving was a possibility], it wasn't a complete shock."

Both executive producers claim the casting decision is not directly related to the show's disappointing ratings. Swimmer adds, "I think for us, it's just a matter of moving on in the direction we [always] wanted to go."

Her hubby, Pete Wentz, has expressed a desire for more kids, but acknowledges that now might not be the right time.

Joined by her husband Pete Wentz, and her sister Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson celebrated her 25th birthday at Wet Republic at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas yesterday.

Joe Simpson even made an appearance. There was plenty of cake, and the single Jessica Simpson seemed to playful mood by making funny faces throughout the day.

Let's hope Ashlee wished for better acting skills when she blew out the candles on her cake.
