Ashlee Simpson looked the part of the glowing expectant celebrity mom after leaving Virgil's BBQ in Midtown Manhattan after a double-date between her, fiance Pete Wentz and new parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. I don't understand this couple's fascination with greasy bangs, but maybe that's why their relationship works. They were in NYC for Ashlee's recent appearance on TRL.

I can only imagine what the two couples discussed over their meals. The guys probably chatted about their preferred shade of black hair dye, whilst the gals waxed poetic about how awesome pregnancy boobs look.

Ashlee and Pete have given up their attempts to weakly deny pregnancy rumors and Joe Simpson is working overtime trying to sell exclusive baby pictures for top dollar, and he seems to be overestimating his selling price. Papa Joe is hoping to fetch one million big ones, while sources reveal to Page Six that $60,000 might be a more reasonable figure.

According to a magazine editor that chatted with Page Six, this pregnancy seems less like a coincidence and more like a promotional stunt. "The timing is a little suspicious. Her album ['Bittersweet World'] is dropping next week, and there was little to no interest until now. Ashlee's lucky she got pregnant, frankly." Those Simpson girls really have made quite comfortable careers for themselves out of being in relationships.

If you can't sell a record, sell a baby. Or the rumor of one. Here's Ashlee Simpson in NYC, enjoying every minute of the is she/isn't she pregnancy question. Hence the cloak of secrecy. The newly engaged to Pete Wentz singer made an appearance on MTV's TRL and decided to act all insulted when the question of her possible pregnancy came up. She deemed it "inappropriate."

Pete and Ashlee made this video back in February. In it they joke about pregnancy, and Ashlee is shot with a fake baby belly. Foreshadowing! In other awesome news, Ashlee's sister Jessica is reportedly bullshit that Ashlee might be shooting out a kid first.

"Jessica never imagined that her tom-boy younger sister would have a baby first," a source explains. "It would be very hard for her not to be jealous."

Damn right. Jessica hates being overshadowed. She's going to start trolling the playgrounds looking for a baby to steal because you know Tony Romo is not going to give her that sort of gift. He's a dumb jock, but he's not that dumb to buy into that family via his semen.

There's a lot of confusion going on, mostly in my own head, as to whether or not recently engaged Ashlee Simpson is pregnant. OK! Magazine and Us Weekly are claiming that they have received confirmation from an unnamed source that Ashlee is preggo with Pete Wentz's baby, however Pete recently made a very vague denial to MTV News.

According to OK!, Ashlee is due to pop out the emo baby some time in October. They are claiming that Simpson was spotted at Malibu's Chart House restaurant, suffering from a "fierce bout of what appeared to be morning sickness."

Hmm, isn't her album about to drop? I guess if I were faced with competing with Mariah Carey, I'd shoot myself out of a cannon into a pool of elephants to try and get some media attention, so a fake pregnancy doesn't seem all that far-fetched to me.

UPDATE: So, the official denial of Ashlee Simpson's pregnancy has come from her fiance, Pete Wentz, who gave a statement to MTV News in an email. According to him, "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood."

He continued by saying, "This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover." Wait, no more, Pete! That one's already old news by now.

When definitively asked if he was denying that she was pregnant, he responded by saying, "Yeah."

We called it! Ok, everybody called it. Ashlee Simpson is knocked up with Pete Wentz's baby. Hey, at least it isn't her Dad's.

Ashlee's people aren't commenting about the possible pregnancy, but US magazine is swearing that it's a definite.

"We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple," a spokesperson said. "Beyond that there is nothing to say." Uh huh.

Ashlee, 23, and Pete, 28, announced their engagement last week. In lieu of gifts, the couple is asking wedding attendees to make donations to Clairol, Manic Panic, and their local patchouli distributors.

After the public announcement of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz's engagement, Jessica and Papa Joe both announced their approval of the soon-to-be-wedded couple.

'My sister is overflowing with joy,' said Jessica. 'Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn't be happier.'

Overbearing father Joe, who is in Augusta, GA for the Masters gold tournament with Jessica's boyfriend Tony Romo also voiced his satisfaction with the couple's new status.

'[Pete] did ask me. I told him that I would be honored to have him as part of my family.'

I have a feeling that Joe is ready to let some other guy worry about his little Ashlee's career.

It's about time for him to get Jessica back in the media for something more than being a football curse.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are engaged! There's going to be a lot of eyeliner at that wedding. The two began dating in October of 2006 and got engaged in Colorado.

"He got down on one knee and she said yes," a family friend says. "She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love." Ashlee's parents Joe and Tina Simpson are said to be "thrilled." Well, yeah, Fall Out Boy is huge. Joe will deal with one less set of boobs to look at in his household for that sort of money coming in. Those girls aren't the cash cows he raised them to be.

Ashlee posted a statement about the engagement on Pete's Friends or Enemies website.

"We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us." Yeah, I'm sure that "private matter" thing will work out. Her Dad will have them getting married during the friggin' Grammys next year on stage. That man is a whoremaster.

Ashlee, 23, and Pete, 28, had gone to Colorado to see an art exhibit that his brother was having, and that's when he popped the question. They were probably taking photos of themselves with various types of makeup and eye shadow on and playing with their bangs when he brought it up. Can't you see these two just staring into mirrors together for hours?

UPDATE: Are they engaged because Pete knocked Ashlee up? When asked, a rep for her had no comment and referred to Ashlee's statement above. "No comment?" Uh, howabout "no?" She's going to give birth to a baby with raccoon eyes and bangs in its face!

Jessica Simpson was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai with a kidney infection last week, and has now been released. She joined her mom Tina, sister Ashlee, and Ashlee's boyfriend Pete Wentz for lunch at El Torito in Encino, CA. From the looks of it, maybe she should have stayed home and dined on the veranda.

"Jessica was walking very slowly with her hand on her back. You could see she was in a little bit of pain," an eyewitness said. "She was dressed down and trying to stay low key." Ham.

Dressed down is right! SWEATS? Yikes, the hospital removed her fashion sense. I kid, I kid.

Little girls! Playing dress-up! What is this? Shuffleboard, anyone? Here are pictures from Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards last night. Who is styling the children these days? Captain Merrill Stubing?

I guess I should admire the creativity, but things have gotten berserk lately. It is refreshing to see the boys wearing the disaster costumes, though. We've got 50s college professors (Drake Bell and Shia LeBeouf), shell-shocked Vietnam War veterans (Emile Hirsch), and Studio 54 rentboys (Josh Peck). Josh Peck seriously has that Jordache look. Ooh la la!

Pete's band Fall Out Boy is releasing a new live cd called "****" on April 8th and they're covering Michael Jackson's "Beat It" on the disc.

"Beat It" was such a hot video. Who doesn't love a knife-fight between two gay dancers tied at the wrist? And an Eddie Van Halen solo? Perfection. Hopefully MJ gets some royalties from this, seeing as he owes bank for Neverland and is very close to having it taken away. Are the animals OK?

Oh, and Fall Out Boy are calling their disc "***" because they realize they swear a lot. That's annoying and it's going to screw up your iTunes. Dicks.

In a video post on the Friends or Enemies.com website, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson joke about making a baby while chilling out in what looks like a hotel room somewhere. At least, that's what I gathered from this mostly unintelligible video the two of them made. Now, I know it's all fun and games on-camera, but let's stop and think for a moment just what kind of child would result from this pairing of DNA.

First off, they'd run the risk that Ashlee's old nose would re-emerge in their spawn. Sideswept, greasy bangs are a must, as well as a desire to work in the music industry. Or, all bets would be off with the baby coming out looking exactly like Ash's sister, Jessica, which would be fantastic. Grandpa Joe would be all over that one.

Although, all jokes aside, Ashlee's hair actually looks really good in this picture.
