News Bites: Britney's Lawyers Prepare Legal Getaway

Share

-Britney Spears and her legal team are doing their best to get the pop star cleared of her charges related to a hit-and-run incident. Claiming that the "Oops" singer isn't yet ready to stand trial, Michael Flanagan requested a stay in the proceedings. "[Spears] is currently unable to participate meaningfully in this matter," he writes, citing her current conservatorship.

-Elisabeth Hasselbeck is frustrated with the political leanings of her co-stars on the View during this presidential election. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the bubbly blonde is upset. However, the source revealed, "It's not as bad as during the Rosie [O'Donnell] era." Bad...don't you mean glorious?

-Jessica Szohr of Gossip Girl is making like a real-life Manhattan socialite, caught mixing and mingling with Roberta Armani, Zani Gugelman and model Eugenia Silva at Bagatelle, says Page Six. The $3,000 tab racked up by the table was picked up by the mystery man who flirted with the CW star all night.

Taylor Momsen Red Alert: Opening Night At The Met

Share

Another excuse for getting all dolled up (no California casual allowed) besides awards shows is going to the opera. And some fancy-looking celebs got dry-cleaned, pressed and ready to go to the opening of the 125th Metropolitan Opera opening night.

Taylor Momsen had a gown that was a lovely shade of red and some lipstick to match. Now, if we could just get her breasts properly secured and a hairstyle that works, I'd be a happy blogger. Way to represent for Gossip Girl at the Met again, Tay-Tay.

As much as I love the color purple and the woman herself, Helen Mirren looked a little too Old West brothel for my liking in her outfit. Maybe if she would have lost the Barney-colored jacket, we'd be good. She's usually the hotness on a stick. Christine Baranski on the other hand, looked fabulous in her black and white ensemble that showed off her long legs.

Barbara Walters represented in a turquoise gown and shawl and some diamonds, y'all. Sparkle, sparkle little newslady. Loves it. And Juliana Margulies was also divine in her black gown, caught text-messaging her babysitter for the evening at the second intermission. But wow, Helena Christensen looked like a goddess in her light-gold dress. Work it, supermodel.

Featured in the gallery: Helena Christensen, Juliana Margulies, Jane Fonda, Regis Philbin, Christine Barankski, Barbara Walters, Georgina Chapman, Helen Mirren, Rufus Wainwrigtht, Martha Stewart, Bryant Gumbel, Faye Dunaway, John Lithgow, Parker Posey, Taylor Momsen, Molly Sims, James Taylor and Christie Brinkley.

Kate Hudson Dodges Romance Rumors On 'The View'

Share

Bless Kate Hudson's heart, we know that she's got the whole dingy-but-sweet romantic comedy heroine thing down to a science, but her acting muscles can only stretch so far. She's maintaining her code of silence about her Armstrong relationship. During her interview on The View, Hudson balked at the direct line of questioning from Barbara Walters with a bunch of blushing and goofy smiles.

She playfully told the ladies, "Yeah, I try not to talk about my personal life." Hmm, maybe the root of the problem is that she has a pretty damn active personal life.

No Love Lost Between Donald Trump and Barbara Walters

Share

trump033007.jpg

Before I even launch into the meat of this story, may we discuss for a moment how wonderful this picture is? It looks like Barbara is there for the sole purpose of relaying in sign language whatever tirade the Donald is about to unleash for the benefit of the hearing-impaired in the audience.

All right, so the whole point of this post is that all of the shenanigans that took place between Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell has damaged the relationship between Trump and "The View" creator, Barbara Walters, beyond repair. Trump relayed to David Letterman on his show:

"Barbara did not speak the truth and I didn't like it."

"She was trying to protect Rosie. She just said things that weren't so and therefore I sort of wrote her off my list. She's off the list."

Um, it's called "Top 8," but whatevs, Don. But seriously, I hope he wasn't just being metaphoric. I hope there really is a list, and that having someone removed involves him beckoning to Melania to "Fetch me the list!" and she emerges, carrying a long scroll of papyrus and the Donald grabs his giant feather plume, dips it in red ink and ceremoniously draws a thick line through their name. Either that, or he deletes them from his cellie.

Barbara Walters Getting On Elisabeth From "The View's" Last Nerve

Share

The conservative chick from "The View" who they brought on as a target for the loud liberal chicks has had it up to here with Barbara Walters. Sources say that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reacting in the negative to a recent verbal smackdown Barbara handed her on-air.

Tuesday's show featured a segment about the Iraqi prisoner-abuse scandal during which O'Donnell snapped at an impassioned Hasselbeck, "You have to stop. You can ask a question, but you can't just blather on your opinion." "View" spokesman Karl Nilsson says there is "absolutely no truth or merit to any of this.
Bitches are bitching that she also thinks Barbara doesn't have any "control" over the show anymore - especially when it comes to Rosie O'Donnell. A recent episode was dedicated to Rosie's birthday, complete with a slew of Broadway numbers and Lizzie got jealous or whatever. People should stop kidding themselves as to how much Elisabeth's opinion matters. Bringing Rosie's loud, occasionally deluded, ass onto that show was the best thing the producers could have done for themselves. They're constantly in the press. Elisabeth will be hosting five minute segments about pet care on the TV Guide Channel before they get rid of Rosie. She also better watch her mouth around that old crone Barbara. Star Jones is over at Court TV as we speak, sadly wondering why the quality of bagels are so much better over at ABC and why can't Court TV get the GOOD cream cheese?
