Red Sox Nation represent! Damn Indians. Ben Affleck said "screw this, man" and slipped out of the NYC premiere of his first directorial effort "Gone, Baby, Gone" to watch the Sox lose to the Indians. Who wouldn't? There's only so many canapes you can eat and he's on the wagon. The flick, which stars his younger brother Casey in the lead, is getting good reviews but you know he's sick of it. The Sox are on! Ben also expressed some nerves about showing his film to the public.

"I just get nervous and think that every chair creak or cough, people hate it," Affleck said of his directorial debut. "And when someone says they thought the movie was good, [I think], you're lying to me!"

No, they were lying to you about every other movie you ever made. Except for "Good Will Hunting". If he slipped out of his movie premiere and it cursed our asses, I'm going to smack the shit out of him.

Why is she letting that perv smell her scarf while her husband's back is turned? Let's clear something up. Earlier this morn', I alluded to the fact that a photoset of Jennifer Garner demonstrated that she was letting the Mom creep in. That's fine. I just thought she looked a little pale and like Violet might have been keeping her up the night before with some little kid issue like night terrors or something. Jennifer Garner is boss. She's one of the few Hollywood chicks I can stand. Here's a small example of J. Harvey's List of Who He Can Stand/Not Stand in Hollywood in no particular order:

The broad behind her is cackling and all "that's right, bitch. We ALL get old! HAH!". Jennifer Garner is letting the Mom take over her looks. That's ok. It's a natural progression. But unless she gets some make-up on, it's time for a Jon Bon Jovi haircut, a BMW SUV to take the kids to soccer practice and only giving it up to Ben Affleck on Friday nights when she's had a glass of Kendall Jackson. Jennifer says that she would never let her husband direct her, because "someone has to raise the kids".

Now, with daughter Violet to think about, Garner insists that she won't star in a movie Affleck directs, for it would mean both parents not being their for their little girl.

"I don't think I would ever star in a movie that Ben directed, because somebody has to raise the kids," Garner said.

She could actually harbor a secret fear that Ben directs like he acts - shitty. But no, his directorial debut "Gone, Baby, Gone" got pretty good reviews. So maybe that's his true calling - being a tall, good-looking DIRECTOR. Go with it, Jenn. Get a nanny or something and have her bring the child to the set! Let Ben mold you and ascend together to new creative heights! Don't be oppressed by your child! And put some lip color on or something.

I've long felt a special kinship with Casey because my high school went up against his in Drama Festival competition in high school. His play was some fairy tale mess about a pasta pot, and mine was about teen pregnancy.

Anyway, nowadays Casey would probably drop a quarter into my Starbucks cup if he saw me on the street but I will always feel a certain pride that another hometown guy made it big.

Ben's wife Jennifer Garner couldn't make it as she's promoting her new flick The Kingdom in Europe and probably trying to forget she ever met Jamie Foxx.

Ben Affleck definitely seems to be enjoying a happy, serene family life with wife Jennifer Garner and daughter, Violet. Doesn't it seem like forever ago that he and that other Jennifer were prancing up and down the red carpet with his and her spray-tans? Well, the repercussions of the relationship took quite a toll on the actor's career.

"What happens in this sort of bleed-over from the tabloids across your movie work," he said. "I ended up in an unfortunate crosshair position where I was in a relationship and [the media] mostly lied and inflated a bunch of salacious stuff for the sake of selling magazines. And I paid a certain price for that. Then, in concert with some movies that didn't work ..."

Dang, Ben Affleck is looking downright skinny these days. That's a good thing, right? I can never tell anymore if I should be happy when people are losing weight or gaining. Everyone's got problems now! You have to be very sensitive, guys. I can't be making fun of flaws willy-nilly, lest these people develop complexes. Except that I really love doing it.

Seriously, these two look happy in pretty much every picture we have here from the set of "He's Just Not That Into You." Maybe Jen's character is still in the whole denial phase of the break-up and Ben, well, he's looking trim and appears to be a happy daddy, so I think he can't really help but smile. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston's movies, especially the chick flicks, but I really did like "The Break-Up" and Lord knows I own a copy of this book as a remnant from my last relationship (which is lurking around in my underwear drawer, should I ever need it--the book, not my relationship), so I'm definitely curious to at least see if the trailer can hook me into going to the theater to see this.

Ben Affleck's directorial debut, Gone, Baby, Gone will debut at Deauville Festival of American Film today. The what now? Where? Is this because it's bad? Where's Deauville? France? I don't have Wikipedia open and I'm incredibly lazy. The film stars his lil' bro Casey Affleck as a private detective in Boston (Go Sox!) who's trying to locate a missing little girl.

The movie's getting good word of mouth, and people are saying that Ed Harris is particularly good in it. Hopefully he's a better actor than he is at navigating airport security. That's a grumpy old man!

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon might be good friends, but Matt has no problem pointing out that his good friend might have been his own worst enemy when it came to his career. Damon, who is riding high on the success of his "Bourne" trilogy, talked about how he believes that his buddy went through a time in his life when he was so overexposed, he was having trouble getting moviegoers into seats.

"He picked things that in hindsight weren't a good choice.

"I also think that if you end up on the cover of gossip magazines you're f**ked.

"When people see you all the time there's no mystery about you any more and no-one's going to want to go and see your movies."

Now, on the surface, it seems like Matt might be talking some smack about his old friend, but I'm guessing from those LOADS of pictures from their double-date vacation in Hawaii recently, he's just being honest. At the same time, I bet Ben just looks at Matt and says, "Yeah, I made bad choices. But then again, I got to bang JLO during the Latin Explosion. I'm a part of history."
