Last night Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were the master of ceremonies at the 14th Annual Saks Fifth Avenue's Unforgettable Evening, which gave a special nod to women's cancer research activists Courteney Cox and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Both actresses glowed in their white gowns, and were joined by cancer research co-chairs Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, as well as Jay-Z and Beyonce - who belted out some "Sasha Fierce" tunes for the party.
But considering the event was supposed to be about, well, cancer,
Gwyneth's acceptance speech seemed a little odd. The Oscar-winning
actress likened herself to a "housewife"
and then self-consciously announced (guess she's been reading the rumors?) that her hubby Chris Martin's
absence was due to "being in Japan" for Coldplay business.
Whoa Gywn, put away the excuse book. David Arquette couldn't make it either!
