Beyoncé Wasn't Always This Happy

She might be wearing a bright smile on her face here at the premiere for her film Cadillac Records, but when she was nineteen years old, Beyoncé Knowles claims that she was in an emotional funk.

Her blue period came when her group Destiny's Child went through a series of lineup changes, starting with the expulsion of original members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson and the subsequent disruption that it caused.

"For a couple of years when I was nineteen, I suffered depression," Knowles admitted. Life's not always diamonds and cat suits, friends.

Is Sasha Fierce From The Future...Or The Past?

The Daily Mail claims that it's no coincidence that Beyoncé Knowles has been dressing up like a cat burglar lately on stage. The publication claims to have pinpointed the various futuristic looks the "Single Ladies" singer has "stolen" for her looks from her new album.

It would appear that B's latest fashions were inspired by fellow pop stars Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and George Michael. The publication also claims that Beyoncé was inspired by the scene in Mr. & Mrs. Smith in which Angelina Jolie descends on a rope wearing a trenchcoat for one of her on-stage entrances, a device also used in the past by Britney Spears.

Beyoncé's Bootylicious Bodysuit

That woman certainly knows how to package her jelly. Beyoncé Knowles showed up in skin-tight black body suit for her performances of "If I Were A Boy," "Single Ladies" and "Crazy in Love" on the Today show.

Showing the same energy for her early morning renditions as she did for her recent American Music Awards display of "Single Ladies" on-stage, Sasha Fierce prowled the audience in her cat burglar getup in between showing off her signature dance that has even sparked celebrity imitators.

How can someone have that much get-up-and-go so early in the morning? The mountain of money is probably good motivation.

Etta James Turns Up For 'Cadillac Records' Premiere

At the Cadillac Records premiere in Hollywood, Beyoncé Knowles cozied up to singer Etta James on the red carpet. The energetic "Single Ladies" singer has already been getting buzz for her portrayal of James in the film, having recorded her own version of Etta's trademark song "At Last."

As for B, things couldn't be going better for her at the moment. The triple-threat entertainer and husband (yes, she's finally come completely clean, thanks to Oprah) Jay-Z are Hollywood's top-earning couple, according to Forbes, pulling in a whopping $162 million in a year.

As for the red carpet, there were a lot of stunning faces out including Sanaa Lathan and Gabrielle Union, but to keep it from looking too, too polished, Adrien Brody looked kind of homeless in the face. Let's hope it's for a role.

Beyoncé Traumatized By The Miracle Of Birth

Beyoncé (you might know her better as Sasha Fierce) taped an episode of the Ellen DeGeneres show to air today, and when asked if she would ever give birth to her formerly top-secret husband Jay-Z's kids, had this to say:

"One day, maybe," the singer said.

Why so enthusiastic? Maybe Sasha Fierce was on break. No, it's because she was in the delivery room during the birth of her younger sister (and the definition of "overshadowed") Solange's kid. Solange is the one who wears freaky outfits to events for zee attention. She's kind of like the sister who tried to have Whitney killed in The Bodyguard.

"I was there in the delivery room and it kind of traumatized me," Beyoncé told Ellen. "I said please don't have me in the room. And she said, 'You have to. I'm your sister. Stop being so silly.' Well, I was right!"

Of course you were. "I'm your sister"? I don't care if we're identical twins, that's between you and the father, homegirl. Stay in the waiting room and have some champagne and let the mom and the doctors do the work. No one needs to be there when there's placenta a'flyin'!

2008 American Music Awards: X-Tina Kicks Off Performances

As promised, Christina Aguilera busted out her medley of hits to open the American Music Awards. Starting off with "Beautiful," the petite singer quickly launched into her dance-track "Keeps Getting Better" and the rest of her biggest hits. The tiny singer somehow managed to launch into a costume change for each new song. She's another one with enviable energy. Her lipstick is made of espresso beans.

Dressed simply in a long, fitted black dress, Mariah Carey looked glamorous as she performed and accepted her award for breaking Elvis Presley's record of most number one hits. The singer crooned "I Stay In Love," wind machine and all.

Annie Lennox, old school popstress showed the young ones how it's done with her short white-blonde pixie cut, looking like Pink's fairy godmother in a long black dress. Those two need to collaborate.

Birthday girl Miley Cyrus looked as if being on stage is exactly where she wanted to be on her special day and as always, Kanye West did his futuristic bit on stage.

Beyoncé Electrifies On The AMAs Stage

Slinking out onto the stage at the AMAs in her now signature unitard, Beyoncé Knowles didn't seem to mind at all that she wasn't being backed by her buddy Justin Timberlake during her performance of "Single Ladies."

Between the flashing lights, the high heels, hair flips, booty-shaking, it's amazing that no one in the audience experienced seizures. Or maybe they did and were carted out before things got too awkward.

OK, how cute was Queen Latifah when she held up her hand when B asked to hear from the single ladies in the audience? And how is this woman able to run around on stage like she does AND sing live? Being her must require endless pots of coffee.

Sasha Fierce - She's So Crazy

Sasha Fierce, Beyonce's drag persona, is on the set of of her latest music video which is shooting in downtown Los Angeles, California. For the scene the stunning musician strutted her stuff, lit a cigar, and threw the lighter onto a car that exploded just 20ft away from her.

While that was interesting, what was even more interesting were the tinsel fringed sunglasses, and various "hats" the singer wore during the shoot. At least she wasn't wearing those while doing her signature pretzel pose.

News Bites: Justin Timberlake Amazes Sasha Fierce

-Beyoncé Knowles remains impressed with Justin Timberlake's performance as her backup dancer in their SNL parody video of "Single Ladies." The I Am...Sasha Fierce singer said, "I still can't believe he did that! He was incredible. We rehearsed it two times." Well, far as she knows, that's how many times he's done the dance.

-Misbehaving Hannah Montana star Cody Linley was too choked up to talk to press after being eliminated from Dancing With the Stars last night. Julianne Hough was more than optimistic for her dance partner's future, "He'll be the next Brad Pitt, are you kidding?" We hope she is.

-Courtney Love has assured her fans that despite some recent blog posts she's written about being severely depressed, she is not considering ending her life. In response, the Hole singer writes, "No, I am not suicidal. Occasionally, like all of us, I get depressed." Someone keep an eye on that one.

TRL Should Have Put A Ring On It

Because now, the show has gone bye-bye. Shaking her groove-thang, Beyoncé Knowles was just one of a group of celebrities who performed for the final episode of Total Request Live entitled Total Finale Live.

In addition, current host Damien Fahey was joined by past hosts, who took the opportunity to wax nostalgic about the MTV staple. Carson Daly said of the send-off, "For me, it's going to be like going to my high school reunion."

And yes, that means he spent a lovely evening gloating about all the weight he's lost since he last saw everyone.
