Jada Pinkett Smith Goes on a Great Tomato Adventure

All for the sake of our children. Jada Pinkett Smith has written the forward to a new children's book, "The Great Tomato Adventure." The mother of three drew on her own experience when she wrote the forward, which touches on getting parents to educate their children about the dangers of talking to strangers.

Hollywood mum Jada Pinkett Smith no doubt drew on her experience with her own kids when she helped unveil a new children's book in New York this week. And with her expressive face and gestures Will Smith's multi-talented wife clearly made the story come alive for her audience of pre-school children. She says the book enabled her to talk to the children about the issue. "My kids are constantly around people they don't know, so this book was very helpful," she revealed.

The Great Tomato Adventure, wasn't 35-year-old Jada's first venture into publishing. She has already written and appeared in photo adventure Girls Hold Up This World, and says she's keen to do another - this time with her husband.

"Will and I have a couple of ideas," she says. "We love children and we have a couple of book projects we are thinking about."

New Book Has Katie Holmes All In A Tizzy

Share

Author, Lori Culwell, has recently come out with a satirical look at the entertainment industry entitled, "Hollywood Car Wash," and Mrs. Tom Cruise is none too happy with the tome. And despite the fact that Culwell's MySpace page claims that the main character does not intentionally mirror Katie and her life experiences, all of the characters and situations are, in fact, based on real people.

"Someone gave her a copy last weekend, and she's been reading it non-stop ever since," said one of the actress' friends. "She's already having problems with Tom, and now she feels like her private life has been exposed. She's really upset."

"Hollywood Car Wash" focuses on the rise of a young actress on a tv series who is forced to lose weight, takes drugs, is hounded by paparazzi, and gets into a contracted relationship. "Katie can't believe the similarities," said the source.

Ugh, I'm so jealous. I want to write a tell-all book that will upset people and get me a movie deal. The problem is that I have access to all kinds of secrets and information about people that no one cares about. My stupid friends and family need to hurry up and get famous. I have coattails to ride here, people.

A Socialite's Library: Great Big Beautiful Doll ~ The Anna Nicole Smith Story

Share

Fresh off the presses, the updated version of Anna Nicole's biography is now available on Amazon. I read this book in one night - it was truly the saddest thing I ever laid my eyes on. What a heartbreaking story!

Written by the two people that discovered Anna, the book walks us through the murky details of her childhood (Anna disputed that Vergie Hart was her mother and said instead that her aunt sired her. The only problem with that story is that her aunt was 10 when Anna was born.), to the dizzy days of stripping and J. Howard Marshall, to the moment Anna met the authors and was discovered by Playboy, to her catapult to stardom, and then traces the steps to her tragic demise. Vickie Lynn Hogan (Anna's given name) had a larger than life existence fueled mainly by sheer ambition and her desire for money, drugs, fame, and sex.

Anna Nicole's childhood was marred by not knowing her father, and growing up with a volatile and competitive relationship with her mother, Vergie Hart. Anna was 5' 11", had mousey brown hair, and an A-cup. Admittedly, Anna was not popular in her Mexia, TX high school. Students in the town called her "nerdy" and even "common." After getting in a fight with a classmate that resulted in her expulsion, 16-year old Anna Nicole dropped out and got her first job at Jim's Krispy Fried Chicken. It was here that she would meet her first husband and father of her son, Daniel, Billy Smith.

Six months after the birth of Daniel, Anna filed for divorce from Billy on the grounds that he was abusive, and she moved to Houston where the opportunities seemed boundless. Anna moved in with Vergie and tried to get work wherever she could. A brief stint as a waitress at Red Lobster led Anna to realize that she would not make enough money to fund the lifestyle she desired making minimum wage and measly tips. She also realized that living with Vergie was seriously limiting her fun, so she set out to make a better life for herself.

Scott Baio Dishes All His Dirt

The book that will soon replace my copy of JDick's memoirs, "No Lifeguard On Duty," as my favorite trashy celebrity confessional has got to be the as-of-yet unpublished, "BaioWatch: How I Dated and Loved Hollywood's Most Beautiful Women and Ended Up Alone." That's right, Bob Loblaw is shopping a manuscript detailing Baio's romantic history with the various famous women who have come and gone in his life, according to Radar.

Pamela Anderson - "One day Pamela came home and said, 'I'm thinking of getting my boobs done.' Admittedly, I was surprised. My initial response, 'Reduced?' She already had large, beautiful, natural breasts. At that moment I knew our relationship would soon begin to crumble."

More between-the-sheets confessions from Baio after the jump.

Newsweek Is All, "Um, Yeah, In Case You're Braindead And Weren't Sure, OJ Totally Did It."

Newsweek has obtained a chapter from the infamous O.J. Simpson confession book, "If I Did It." Assistant managing editor at the publication, Mark Miller, believes that the chapter indicates a confession and also declined to name the source from which the chapter was obtained. From Reuters:

Miller, in this week's Newsweek, said, "What is striking about the chapter I read ... is how closely it tracks with the evidence in the case -- and how clearly Simpson invokes the classic language of a wife abuser.
"In his crude, expletive-laced account, Simpson suggests Nicole all but drove him to kill her," he said.
Miller said that Simpson tells how he drove to his ex-wife's home with a friend called Charlie and encountered her and Goldman. But Simpson stops short of describing their stabbings.
Miller said Simpson wrote that his ex-wife came at him like a "banshee."
He added, "She loses her balance and falls hard, her head cracking against the ground. Goldman assumes a karate stance, further angering Simpson. He dares the younger man to fight. Then, in the book, Simpson pulls back. He writes, 'Then something went horribly wrong, and I know what happened, but I can't tell you exactly how.'"
Miller said Simpson wrote that when he regained control of himself, he realized he was holding a bloody knife and was drenched in blood. His ex-wife and Goldman were dead.
And apparently, as a promotion, it was originally planned that a bloody knife be enclosed with each copy of the book. Not really, but seriously, this shit is getting almost beyond the limits of hyperbole.

Melanie Griffith Is All, "Um, No."

Bonnie Robinsons recently told Page Six of the New York Post that Melanie Griffith is reneging on a verbal agreement with Robinson to do an autobiography with a ghostwriter. From ContactMusic.com:

Robinson tells PageSix.com, "Two years ago, she promised to do her autobiography with me when she turned 50, which she will be this coming August. "In fact, she shook hands on the deal and gave her solemn word." The writer blames Griffith's use of medication, for which she reportedly sought treatment over the Christmas holidays, for her apparent memory loss and unfriendly behaviour during a recent meeting. She adds, "I guess all the 'mood' elevators have also destroyed her memory, because she told me that she wouldn't do the book and that she had no recollection of such a promise."
I see Robinson's tactic. Very clever. Clearly, she plans on sweet-talking Griffith back into the deal.

A book tour that is. LL Cool J has teamed up with his personal trainer, Dave "Scooter" Honig to release a book called LL Cool J's Platinum Body, which will give fans insight into what LL Cool J does physically in terms of his diet, workout, and philosophy to stay fit. I'm hoping it just has a bunch of pretty pictures in it.

Epitome of Evil's Murder Confession Could Still Get Published

Share

Oj010307

The New York Daily News reports that O.J.s "If I Did It" isn't exactly dead yet. Unlike his ex-wife and her friend the waiter.

O.J. Simpson's controversial book "If I Did It" could be published after all, just in time for next Christmas, Time magazine reports.

The book, probably the biggest publishing fiasco of 2006, was killed by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. in mid-November after widespread public outrage, just as it was scheduled to hit the bookstores.

But 400,000 copies were printed and are sitting in warehouses, and more significantly, Simpson's rights to the material will eventually revert back to him, Time reports in its new editions.

More on how OJ is still going to make money off of his book after the jump.

David LaChapelle's 'Heaven To Hell'

David LaChapelle celebrated the release "Heaven To Hell," the third book in his trilogy at a book signing. As per David, he attracted some unique fans. A little about the book:

LaChapelle Heaven to Hell is the long-awaited third volume in an exhilarating trilogy that began with LaChapelle Land (1996) and continued with the infamous Hotel LaChapelle (1999). Packed with astonishing, color-saturated, and provocative images, those titles both became instant collector's items and have since gone through multiple printings. Featuring almost twice as many images as its predecessors, LaChapelle Heaven to Hell is an explosive compilation of new work by the visionary photographer. Since the publication of Hotel LaChapelle, the strength of LaChapelle's work lies in its ability to focus the lens of celebrity and fashion toward more pressing issues of societal concern.
