Zac Efron Gets His Head In The Box Office Game

All his promotion for his film 17 Again has paid off now that Zac Efron raked in $24.1 million his opening weekend for the time-warp film.

Even though it's less than the behemoth of a box office monster High School Musical 3: Senior Year took in with $42 million, it's still considered a good start for his post Disney adventures in acting.

To celebrate, Efron and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens took in a Lakers game, in which they battled the Utah Jazz. Zac probably sat on his hands to keep from doing jazz hands of joy.

'Wolverine' Expects To Get Huge Opening

Estimates range anywhere between $70 million to $102 million for domestic box office for Hugh Jackman's X-Men Origins: Wolverine May 1st opening weekend.

Despite any discrepancies in guesses as to what the initial box office take will be, most movie experts agree that the success on the film depends heavily on the quality of the action movie itself, as well as how much of a hit the piracy fracas caused.

As for its star, Hugh, he can't really do much else besides keep on promoting the hell out of the flick. The man will do anything short of climbing up the side of a building. Actually, he has no problem doing that.

Miley Cyrus Tops Box Office With Hannah Montana Flick

Any apprehension that Miley Cyrus wouldn't be able to repeat the success of her last movie as her Disney channel alter ego was completely washed away after Hannah Montana: The Movie exceeded expectations this weekend.

The film nabbed the coveted top spot over the holiday, taking in $34 million, well over the $31.1 million earned by Miley's movie Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. As for the star herself, Miley kept it simple on Easter Sunday, opting for a walk out with the family dogs with her dad Billy Ray Cyrus.

As for the Jonas Brothers, we suspect they're at home, pouting and wondering if maybe they shouldn't each invest in a blond wig.

'Fast & Furious' To Make Another Lap Around The Racetrack

Fast & Furious continues to tear up the box office, causing its star Paul Walker to confess that he and Vin Diesel are planning "without question" to star in a follow-up. On the red carpet, Walker told press, "Vin and I will be coming back, we're making a fifth one, and we're going to Brazil, that's it."

Paul claims that his commitment to the franchise is because he feels so strongly for the fans. Yeah, and it probably doesn't hurt that the movie's making wild amounts of money.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the racing flick is making so much money since America loves fast cars and people in fat suits. Which is why I'm currently writing a script entitled The Fat, Fast and Furious.

Jennifer Aniston Has The Box Office Golden Touch

DVD sales for Jennifer Aniston's film with Owen Wilson, Marley & Me, have been stellar. After an impressive box office showing, the movie easily nabbed the number one spot for DVD sales, beating out Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. In your face, John Mayer! If she's ever missing that loser, she can always just have someone attach a leech to her neck.

This woman is a virtual movie-making machine. If she's in the mood, that is. Currently filming scenes for The Baster, a romantic comedy about a woman who gets artificially inseminated. Hmm. Remember how The Breakup preceded her split from Vince Vaughn? I'm just putting it out there.

In any case, let's see if America has room in its heart for another Aniston rom-com. There will be Jason Bateman, after all.

'Fast & Furious' Explodes At Box Office, Inspires SNL Parody

Despite the fact that Vin Diesel has pulled some diva antics during this round of promoting his film Fast & Furious, the action flick managed to kick off its opening weekend with a bang.

Taking in a whopping $72.5 million in it its opening weekend, the car-themed movie now olds the title of the biggest opener this year. Head of distribution Nikki Rocco thinks the appeal is as following, "For the audience, the first main reason to see the movie was the action, then the car racing, then Vin Diesel."

Jumping on the Fast & Furious bandwagon, Saturday Night Live has introduced their addition to the gas-fueled franchise, Fast & Bi-Curious. It's happy sexy time with Seth Rogen and Andy Samburg.

'Twilight' DVD Sales Are Killer, 'New Moon' Production Pictures

Repeating the wild box office success of the big screen release of Twilight has proven to be an easy task. Fans of the movie have dutifully gone out and purchased the DVD, tempted with the promise of special features and previously unseen footage. In fact, sales have been so stellar that Twilight can be included in the top five best first-day DVD releases of the past two years.

Stars of the film have also done their part to promote DVD sales with Ashley Green seen in these photos at the launch party and previously palling around at a DVD launch event at Kitson with Kellan Lutz and Rachelle Lefevre. You would think she would be exhausted, but vampires don't need sleep like us mere mortals.

As for New Moon, more photos taken from the set have become available--as well as some video footage of character Jacob Black's truck--for your viewing pleasure. Sink your fangirl (and boy) teeth into these, my friends.

Can Julia Roberts Still Work Big Box Office Magic?

Newsweek is asking this question, with the queen of romantic-comedy Julia Roberts poised to open what is essentially her first film in five years alongside Duplicity co-star Clive Owen.

Well-known for her smash success in the arena of romantic comedies, the sad truth is that these days, that genre of film is woefully suffering with few rare exceptions. But Julia still looks great and probably consoles herself with the millions upon millions she's earned over her prolific career of box office hits.

Also, it's hard to feel too bad for someone whose job has them hanging out and pretending to sex up Clive Owen.

'Watchmen' Has Fingers Crossed For Big Box Office

With midnight screenings of the graphic novel film adaptation of Watchmen selling out (all protestations from Hitler aside), hopes are high for the film to attain 300 levels of box office revenue.

The disappointment of the recent Jonas Brothers movie opening weekend ticket sales has put a slight damper on expectations for the superhero action flick, invoking the following reaction from Paul Dergarabedian of Media By Numbers and Hollywood.com: "I'm not saying it's not going to do amazingly well, [but] I'm reticent to go out on a limb."

Meanwhile, here are two delicious reasons to go check out the flick over the weekend. Watchmen stars Patrick Wilson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan hit up the Apple store in SoHo to talk with fans about the film in the hopes. But now, it's in the hands of fanboys and fangirls.

Midnight Screenings Of 'Watchmen' Selling Out

With the release of the graphic novel film adaptation Watchmen set to premiere on Friday, midnight screenings on Thursday in New York City, San Diego and Dallas have already sold out.

Female stars from the film glowed on the red carpet. Movie vixen Carla Gugino looked like a dark-haired goddess in her emerald-green one shoulder dress and Malin Akerman showed off a complicated, but ultimately flattering (I think) figure-hugging dress with a fishtail.

And of course, Jeffrey Dean Morgan looks delicious as always. Get your tickets, kids, cause they're going fast.
