LaToya Jackson's Reunites With Bruno On DVD

Share

The scene featuring LaToya Jackson in Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy, Bruno, was quickly removed from the film just before its premiere. Producers were compelled to do so as a result of Michael Jackson's sudden death.

However, for the DVD version--which is set to release November 17--the scene is being included as an extra feature. In it, Cohen interviews LaToya while he is in character as the Austrian fashionista, Bruno. Jackson plays along--not recognizing the comedian throughout the course of their interaction.

At one point, Cohen has Jackson sit atop an almost-nude Hispanic worker. She giggles, "It's like being on a horse, isn't it?" Additionally, the twosome feast on sushi off another partially naked man transported into the room on a gurney.

However, when Baron takes LaToya's cell phone and attempts to find Michael's number, she puts her bedazzled foot down and storms off. Bless her heart, who let her get a hold of information like that?

Bruno Wins The Hearts Of Millions

Share

Despite mixed review, Sacha Baron Cohen's latest mockumentary, Bruno, finished first at the box office by grossing $30.4 million. However, all is not great for Bruno. The film was first on Friday, dropped 39% on Saturday and came in third on Sunday. Ouch.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs came in at No. 2 with $28.5 million, dropping only 32 percent from last weekend. The animated family film has made $120.6 million in two weeks. Third place went to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which grossed $24.2 million in its third weekend, bringing its total to $339.2 million.

Public Enemies (No. 4 with $14.1 million) and The Proposal (No. 5 with $10.5 million) round out the top five. The Proposal marks star Sandra Bullock's first $100 million picture since 2000's Miss Congeniality, and the romantic comedy should have no trouble passing 1994's Speed to become Bullock's biggest hit. The weekend's other new wide release, the teen comedy I Love You, Beth Cooper, opened at No. 7 with $5 million.

Bruno Tries To Get A Hug From Matt Lauer

Share

While in character as Bruno, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, got glib with Matt Lauer on the Today show this morning and requested a hug. During his interview, Lauer informed the over-exposed Austrian fashion enthusiast clad in an all-silver suit and tiny hat that the Austrian Minister to Great Britain had requested a boycott of the film.

At that point, Bruno reacted with faux-surprise and told Matt, "This is the first I'm hearing of this. This is a very private moment. Close up, please. That is just so Austrian: they build you, zhen they knock you down."

Pretending to be overwhelmed with emotion, he wailed to the interviewer, "Hug me, I feel so lonely!" Make sure to check out the video after the jump! Meanwhile, if he thinks he's getting emotional with Matt, Bruno would have been a puddle of emotions if he had been grilled by Al Roker. That friendly weatherman doesn't pull any punches.

Who Is The Real Bruno?

Share

And why would anyone be to known as the real Bruno? There is an apparent debate as to who is Bruno.

Alfons Haider is the front runner. He's a 51-year-old actor, cabaret star, reality show host, singer. He told People, "I only have four things in common with Brüno: I'm a man, an Austrian, I'm on television, and I'm gay - that's it. But if the world wants me to be the inspiration for Brüno, well then, I'll be Brüno. It's all pretty funny." He also has a theory about being Brüno's inspiration, adding, "Nine years ago, Sacha Baron Cohen studied in Austria for a year. Since I've done over 800 television shows in the past 15 years, I can't rule out the possibility that he may have seen one of my shows."

There's on catch. He's not into fashion. Say hello to Bruno number two, Adi Weiss, a 33-year-old Vienna-based fashion journalist. As far as Weiss is concerned, though, Brüno is utterly a figment of his creator's imagination. "I think he is obsessed with maps and was probably wondering one day what the most unlikely country for a hip fashion scene would be. He could just as easily have picked Liechtenstein," said Weiss. Then again, Liechtenstein isn't known for Lederhosen, one of Brüno's key fashion statements.

Whomever Bruno is, Sacha Baron Cohen, sure does have fun playing him.

Bruno Has Found Himself A New Man In Australia

Share

Bruno, Austrian fashionista extraordinaire or Sacha Baron Cohen, seems to have found himself a sexy new man; Bruno has revealed that he has a crush on Australian prime minister, Kevin Rudd.

At a news conference for the premiere of his new movie in Australia, Bruno talked about his meeting with the prime minister.

"The reason I'm late is I just had breakfast in bed with Kevin Rudd," he said. "That guy is like, uber cute. I thought Obama was, like, the hottest guy in the world until I met Kevin."
Apparently, Bruno and Rudd met the previous night as they were both on Rove Live, a popular Australian talk show.

When talking of Australian men's fashion, Bruno said, "o be honest I'm a little bit disappointed because I know 150 years ago Britain sent all their gay guys over here, so ich expected a little bit more flair."

Bruno himself obviously has no trouble with flair as evidenced by his premiere outfits in Berlin, London, and Los Angeles.

Oh Bruno, ich love you. Ich really do.

LaToya Jackson Cut From 'Bruno,' Premiere Blocks Michael's Star

Share

It was quite a scene on Hollywood Boulevard yesterday, in the wake of Michael Jackson's sudden and very surprising death. Fans flocking to the superstar's star on the Walk of Fame just in front of the Chinese Theatre weren't the only reason.

On that very spot, event crews had placed their production equipment and lights in preparation for last night's Hollywood premiere of Bruno at Mann's Chinese Theatre. By this morning, however, fans were free to visit the star to pay their respects.

In the wake of Jackson's death, Sacha Baron Cohen and producers of Bruno decided to cut a scene from the film, which features a gag interview with Michael's sister, LaToya Jackson. The studio confirmed the edit by saying, "Even in the often-shocking comedy, jokes at the expense of the late Mr Jackson would have been in poor taste."

I know they mean well, but I get the sneaking suspicion LaToya's going to be disappointed.

Bruno Shows Off His Wang

Share

A pig costume with a requisite penis is the latest getup that Sacha Baron Cohen donned during his European Bruno premiere week. Between Cohen and his fiance Isla Fisher's schedule the couple is having a hard time figuring out when they are going to get married.

The couple has been together for seven years, are busy promoting Sacha's new movie Bruno.

Now Isla is set to star in an action comedy called Your Highness, which will start shooting in Ireland this summer, putting paid to any hopes of a wedding.

"If Isla signs the deal, it will mean moving to Ireland for a while with their baby daughter Olive," says a friend. "With all their projects, Isla and Sacha haven't had time to tie the knot. They have set their hearts on getting married in Italy."

I can only imagine what Sacha will wear to their wedding.

Sacha Baron Cohen Refuses To Cut Sex Scenes From 'Bruno'

Share

Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has been traipsing all through Europe, promoting his latest film, Bruno in some very revealing outfits. But it's the sex scenes in the comedy that have Cohen in hot water.

Bruno is getting slapped with explicit movie ratings in Great Britain as a result of graphic sex scenes featured in the film. But Sacha stands firm and will not budge on his decision to include them..

President of Universal Pictures International, David Kosse, thinks Cohen's made the right gamble, despite the 18 rating from the British Board of Film Classification. "They requested cuts that were some of the funniest bits of the movie."

God only knows ridiculousness is in the movie, considering the entertaining show we're getting uncensored on the red carpet and in these pictures of the comedian as Bruno on the Spanish TV show El Hormiguero.

Bruno Brings The Bull To Spain

Share

For the premiere of his newest film, Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen has been stepping out in one ridiculous outfit after another.

Following up his super-sexy traditional English guard costume for the premiere of the comedy in England, the comedian stepped out in a figure-hugging head-to-toe bull costume at the Las Ventas bullring for the Spanish premiere of his film.

Taking on the role of the gay Austrian fashionista, Cohen addressed the crowd in Madrid by saying, "Ich have come to redress the wrong done to the gay community by that Hollywood movie on Harvey Milk which was acted by Sean Penn, who's not even gay."

Meanwhile, who could pay attention to what he was saying with all of those sexy matadors by his side? Olé!
