Body Buzz: Lindsay in Rehab - What Went Wrong?

Lindsaylo011807
(Flynet)

For months, we've been so worried that Lindsay's health may be in jeopardy that it's been keeping us up at night, wondering if we will wake up the next morning and read the headline "Lohan's Life Hangs in the Balance." Well, not really, but in all honesty, I think this is a really sad and unfortunate situation for the twenty year-old actress, who is in rehab and not yet even of the legal drinking age.

Wonderland011807In December we found out that Lindsay had been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and then news broke yesterday that at 2:30 p.m., the "Mean Girls" star checked into L.A.'s Wonderland Center. The Wonderland Center offers a minimum three-day detoxification program but each program is specifically designed to meet the needs of each patient. I'm sure that she will recover nicely in the posh surroundings of the treatment center located in the historical Laurel Canyon area of West Hollywood. The center offers first-class food service and accommodations and is securely gated on a private estate. The Wonderland Center has two swimming pools and includes three acres of sitting and walking areas. This rehab retreat has the beauty and comfort of a resort combined with the health services of the finest treatment centers in the nation. I think I could be cured of all my vices too if I was at a place that offered me a bed with 500 thread count sheets, as well as a down comforter to sleep in whilst I enjoy my first bout of the shakes!

Beauty Buzz: Your Current Obsessions

Here are some of the winter's must have beauty products, or at least some beauty products that I think you should have in your bathroom at the moment!.

Juicy011607For your winter fragrance, I recommend Juicy Couture. Indulging your fun and flirtatious side, each bottle comes adorned with beautiful charms and trinkets. To give you that romantic scent that you'll love to wear all year long, this fragrance has top notes of watermelon, mandarin, pink passion fruit, mixed with vanilla, caramel and crème-brulee along with several other floral notes.

Your makeup essentials for this winter should include Photo Finish Foundation Primer from Smashbox. This product creates the perfect canvas for foundation application. The silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants does double-duty as a primer while producing a matte finish. Its exceptional formula helps to slow down the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines.

Beauty Buzz: Golden Globes Beauty Report

The Golden Globes is the Entertainment Industries party of the year where our favorite celebs from movies and television get together for a drunken barn dance of festivities to be honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press. Last night's event we saw some wonderfully dazzling accessories, and jewels. Some not so hot hairstyles and those that we will emulate for months to come at proms and weddings and some eye-popping jaw dropping make you say "Wow" make -up!

Jewelry and Accessories: Big was definitely in last night - bringing back the saying "Go Big or Go Home"! Huge cuff bracelets and chunky bracelets were seen in waves last night from celebrities such as Ellen Pompeno with her three set diamond cuff bracelet, Angelina's double gold bracelet set, and Beyonce's horrid chucky gold bracelet that reminded me of a slap bracelet I could have purchased at the skating rink with my tokens! We saw chandelier earrings, beautiful tear drop earrings and my favorite sleek stud earrings as seen on Reese Witherspoon and Renee Zellweger. Jack Nicholson was in the house with his best accessory his signature sunglasses; however P Diddy (aka Puffy who knows what he goes by these days) was also sporting sunglasses as well. So here is who I believe had the most fashionable and best use of Accessories last night - Helen Mirren! She had the most beautiful blue topaz "Titanic looking" necklace supported by her tiny crystal drop earrings really brought the whole look together with her dark blue jersey gown with antique silver sequined tulle. Also Drew Barrymore traded in her Urban Outfitters jewelry for some major bling and we loved it! Honorable Mention: Jeremy Piven his best accessory - his Mom! Worst use of accessories last night: Hillary Swank and her hair accessory! I personally did not like it and I just thought it took away from her beautiful sleek spaghetti strap black dress that she was wearing with the striking bow-tie waist that gave her a nice curve to her otherwise stick figure.

Body Buzz: Overcome The Winter Workout Blues

Skiing011506Can the weather affect your mood to workout? The answer, of course, is yes. However is that just an excuse? The answer to that is also yes! "It's too cold to work out," or "The weather is too gloomy," are just two of the many excuses people will use to justify skipping a workout. Here are a few tips to help you overcome the winter workout blues and revitalize your routine!

If you are a person whose workout consists of outdoor activity ,the key is to dress appropriately. Layers, layers and more layers--it's the key to staying comfortable in colder weather. Terramar Thermasilk long underwear is a wonderful product that will keep you warm and comfortable for your outside workouts. This particular pair of long underwear is breathable and is not binding or bulky.

I also like Under Armour, which has leggings and pants designed for specific temperature ranges. Keep in mind that the more aerobic the workout (such as cross-country skiing, or running), the hotter you'll get, so the lighter your layers should be. You might be a little chilly at first, but you'll heat up fast. If you're toasty when you first start out, imagine how hot you will be after 10 minutes!

Body Buzz: Strength Training A Vital Part of Your Workout

Armcurl011207Strength training is a fundamental part of a balanced exercise routine that includes aerobic activity and flexibility exercises. When you strength-train with weights, you're using your muscles to work against the extra pounds. This strengthens and increases the amount of muscle mass in your body by making your muscles work harder than they're used to.

Coincide this sample weight training schedule with your cardio schedule and you should be in and out of the gym in an hour and 20 minutes. Combine free weights with the weight machines for a total strength training workout.

Monday: Arms (biceps) - Arm Curls with bar: 2 sets of 12 reps, Arms Curls on machine: 2 sets of 12 reps, and Arm Curls with free weights.

Tuesday: Legs - Leg extensions: 2 sets of 12 reps regular and the 2 sets of 12 quick ones, Hip Flexors: 2 sets of 12 reps, Abductors: 2 sets of 12 reps and for Leg squats, try doing 30!

Body Buzz: A Better Workout Routine - Part One Cardio

Buzz011007When constructing your workout schedule for the week, it is important to leave 48 hours in between working the same body parts. Your muscles need time to recover and repair themselves after a workout. Be sure you take one day off per week from formal exercise. Before you start your daily exercise you should warm up for at least five minutes--a light jog on the treadmill, walking on the Stairmaster, or riding stationary bike are all great ways to warm up! This post is the first of two parts. Today, I'll be making suggestions for a better cardio workout and then on Friday I'll be giving tips for a better strength-training workout. After that, you'll be able to combine the two to create your perfect total-body workout!

There should be at least three components to your weekly workout regime: Cardio, Strength training and Abs workout (your core workout). Cardio should be done every day, but you don't have to do the same thing every time. This is where I personally was confused. nI couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing weight after a while. I was doing the same workout each day and my body became used to it even though I was sweating it out on the elliptical machine for 45 minutes, six times a week! I then realized that by changing my cardio routine, the weight would come off more easily! Running on the treadmill, running outside, swimming, the elliptical machine, biking and even the stationary bike are all great ways to get your cardio, and switching it up can also keep your workout interesting.

Body Buzz: Glide Into The New Year

Gliding010806There is a new workout program that is featured in the hottest workout clubs across the country. Created by Mindy Mylrea it's called Gliding and is now available for you at home. Gliding is a workout done by sliding on two Frisbee-like plastic disks allowing the user to enjoy various body-sculpting movements.

Gliding engages your muscles through a full range of motion, doubling the benefits of traditional strength-training workout. One of the best benefits of this workout is that it stabilizes your core to tone up those abs! Getting started is easy. Begin by doing two sets of 12-15 reps of each movement. Once you become more comfortable with the workout, you can work your way up to 15-20 reps of each movement. Do the routine three times a week on nonconsecutive days for the best results and you will notice a visible change in a month.

Find out how to get the best results from Gliding after the jump.

Body Buzz: Tone Up By Jumping Rope

We all used to play double dutch on the school playground and see how long we could jump for by having our friend's time us, but now in just 20 minutes jumping rope can tone you up! Its pretty simple thing to do here are a few tips on how to incorporate the jump rope into your workout routine.

Skipping rope burns about 10 calories a minute while toning every inch of your body. In 20 minutes by doing intervals of jumping and strength moves you can burn about 200 calories! All you need is a jump rope and a watch or a clock to time the intervals. Getting started is easy- jump rope for about two minutes then work in these five strength training moves for a maximum burn.

Heel Click - This move works your legs, shoulders, butt. Stand with your feet wider than hip-width apart and your toes out. Fold rope in quarters; grip each end with one hand. Raise your arms overhead, keeping your elbows in line with your ears. Squat until your thighs are parallel to ground, then spring up, bringing your arms toward thighs. At height of jump, click heels together (as shown). After that begin jumping rope for 2 minutes. Reps: 8 -10

Power twist - This move works your legs, abs, butt. Start in lunge position with right foot forward. Fold the rope in quarters and hold one end in each hand with arms raised to chest level. Maintaining lunge, twist torso to right (as shown). Hold for a one-second count and twist back to center. Do 8 to 10 twists to right, then switch legs and repeat twists to left. Then begin to jump rope for 2 minutes. Reps: 8-10
