All the hard work that Eva Longoria has done with her pet charity project, Padres Contre El Cancer, has earned the Desperate Housewives actress the title of The Hollywood Reporter's Philanthropist of the Year award.

To receive her award, handed to her by Los Angeles mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, Eva wore a bright, red, silk, asymmetrical gown that had one sleeve that looked like a bunch of flowers trailing up her arm.

According to the CEO of Padres, Elvia Barboa, the title is accurate. Barboa tells THR, "People ask me if she's just a figurehead. In no way is she that...Eva fell in love with our mission. She's not doing this for fame. She's doing it because she's compassionate."

Eva's good buddy, Mario Lopez, was also on hand to support Eva, as well as her castmate, Dana Delaney. Sheryl Crow, Holly Robinson Peete and Kate Beckinsale also turned up to the event, looking sleek and ready to celebrate.

A little of new Hollywood was there, but most of them were over at the MOCA gala Saturday night. For the first time since the Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts and Science's Board of Governors began bestowing their Honorary Award and The Irving G, Thalberg Awards, instead of presenting them during the LiveOscar telecast, this year the Governors Awards were handed out to Producer John Calley, actress Lauren Bacall, producer-director Roger Corman, and cinematographer Gordon Willis, along with 600 invited guests in attendance, at the Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Saturday night.

The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given to an individual for "extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.

Those on hand to honor Bacall and Corman were Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Angelica Houston, Gabby Sidibe, Virginia Madsen, Warren Beatty, Annett Bening, Quentin Tarantino, Jeff Bridges, Alec Baldwin, Abbie Cornish, Morgan Freeman, Ron Howard, Amy Smart, Maria Bello, Jennifer Tilly, Meg Tilly, Sally Kellerman, Marisa Tomei, Tom Ford, Nia Vardalos, Vera Farmiga and Dana Delany.

Sporting a super-short hairdo, striking star of V, Morena Baccarin, took to the red carpet for TV Guide Magazine's Hot List Party in Los Angeles in a sleek, black dress. She's so gorgeous, I almost believe her when she tells me that all she wants is peace for this planet.

Going for a decidedly more vampy look (appropriately so), star of Vampire Diaries, Kayla Ewell donned a fitted fire-engine red dress and bright lipstick for the occasion.

Representing for the Cougar Town ladies, Busy Phillips and Courteney Cox, showed up to the event as well. Busy was all California sunshine with her long blond locks, a sea-foam green curve-hugging dress and peep-toe heels. One would hardly guess these two were in the same climate, with Courteney all bundled up in a gun-metal gray jacket and black dress underneath.

But Adam Lambert takes the cake with his tight jeans and black porcupine do standing straight up in the air. I wonder who had that hairstyle first, him or Kate Gosselin?

It was a star studded night at the Environmental Media Association Awards.

Jason Mraz was honored for his commitment to green touring by using sustainable textiles. Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart were on hand as presenters, while other stars such as Simon Baker, Blythe Danner, Daryl Hannah, Amy Smart, Ginnifer Goodwin and Chevy Chase were in attendance as Cedric the Entertainer performed the evening's master of ceremonies duties.

The kickoff of this year's Los Angeles Shorts Festival saw the auspicious debut of actresses Scarlett Johansson and Courteney Cox as directors. Courteney's piece, The Monday Before Thanksgiving, was produced in conjunction with Glamour magazine.

Of her experience directing her piece, The Vagabond Shoes, Scarlett gushed, "I have never been so happy as I was behind the camera. It's something I always wanted to do."

And I'm going to assume that Scarlett's little opus can't be all that bad, if it's starring Kevin Bacon. But then again, I remember her trying to sing.

It's a toss-up who the blushing bride is going to be for the Desperate Housewives finale of Season 5. Scenes feature a mystery bride marrying character Mike Delaney in a church, her face concealed with a thick, white veil.

And to keep paparazzi and viewers guessing, Desperate Housewives stars Dana Delaney and Teri Hatcher were spotted on the set of the ABC series wearing wedding dresses. They posed next to one another for photos with big smiles on each of their faces.

Both their characters have a conceivable shot at getting hitched, with Teri's Susan Mayer divorced from Mike, but still exhibiting a strong connection with him.

Meanwhile, Dana's character Katherine Mayfair is Mike's fiance and could also be making the trip down the aisle.

Impeccably-dressed as always, singer Cheyenne Jackson was looking dapper as hell, continuing to break hearts both male and female with a single bat of his eyelashes on the red carpet for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

Julia Louis Dreyfus chose an orange sheath dress for the occasion. The actress knows how to wear a bright color and wears it well. She looks like a sexy orange creamsicle. Delish.

Funnywoman Jane Lynch was all kinds of tall and porcelain-skinned in one of her trademark pantsuits. On the opposite end of the spectrum, dark-haired Teri Hatcher was all gold in a gold, strapless mini sheath dress matching shoes and purse--a good look for her.

The Annie song, "You're Never Fully Dressed without a Smile," comes to mind as I peruse these pictures of toned comedian Kathy Griffin accepting the Vanguard award at the GLAAD Media Awards Show dressed in a bikini on stage. That woman will do anything for her public.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres picked up a prize for chatting about her wedding day in 2008 to partner Portia de Rossi on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. DeGeneres said to her better half while on stage to accept the Outstanding Talk Show Episode, "Portia, I love you." As do I, after falling in love with her latest TV character on Better Off Ted.

Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry accepted the best-TV-comedy-series award with his show's stars Teri Hatcher and Dana Delaney by his side. "I do like when Swoosie Kurtz came on and played the gay boss of Susan," Teri Hatcher remarked during acceptance of the award. I love that expression. From here on out, I'm going to say, "You're not the gay boss of me!" Unless, of course, you actually are my gay boss.

Although the Desperate Housewives cast gets a bad rap for rumored off-camera spats, Marcia Cross, Dana Delaney and Eva Longoria all turned up at the film premiere for their castmate Felicity Huffman.

Invariably, the talk turned to the pending departure of Nicolette Sheridan from the ABC  series. "I'm really going to miss her and I'm going to miss Edie," she said. "But [Housewives creator] Marc Cherry has led us brilliantly. He has an artistic vision, so we go with that." Way to toe the company line. See? That's why this one works consistently.

Oh yes, but back to the movie...Huffman co-stars with Elle Fanning, Dakota's younger sister, in Phoebe in Wonderland as a drama teacher who provides inspiration to her young pupil.

The voice of Desperate Housewives did anything but blend into the red carpet as actress, Brenda Strong, struck a dramatic pose in a one-shoulder, gun-metal silk gown complete with beading across the top. This broad needs more screen time.

Teri Hatcher showed off a short bob in a long, cascading Monique Lhuillier design. It's a big gown for a skinny lady. Speaking of tiny women, Eva Longoria looked totally over-the-top in a strapless, frothy peach number by Jenny Packham and a fancy bit of hardware on her neck.

OMG, I just realized--it's my sister's old Peaches n' Cream Barbie Doll!
