In a turn that comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone, singer
LeAnn Rimes and her husband
Dean Sheremet have officially announced the fact that they are divorcing. LeAnn wrote on
her web site: "After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage. This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another. Thank you so much for all of your continued love and support - it is deeply appreciated."
The pair had
announced their separation at the end of July, shortly after
Eddie Cibrian, LeAnn's new beau,
announced that he was getting a divorce. LeAnn and Eddie were said to have become
romantically involved on the set of their film Northern Lights, so the fact that both of them are officially divorcing can only mean good things for them, right?
LeAnn's good friend
Jeff Berger told
People that she and Dean are "doing their best to handle it as mature adults. Dean's her best friend and that's the crux of the issue; when you love and care about somebody who's your best friend - how not to cause them pain," he says. "Le and Dean are both great people and, unfortunately, going through a tough situation. But they're doing what needs to be done in as amicable a way as possible."
Eddie and LeAnn were
last seen together at the Kings of Leon concert last week, so I wonder if they'll be out a little bit more now. Divorce is sometimes so upsetting. Quite honestly though, I'm shocked that LeAnn and Dean's marriage lasted as long as it did. She was 19 and he was 21 when they wed in 2002, and the age of 19 is no time to be making life-changing decisions. Trust me. I know.
