The hunky Eric Bana and the exquisite Rachel McAdams play star-crossed lovers whose lives intersect across a lifetime in The Time Traveler's Wife, based on the best-selling Audrey Niffenegger novel. They hit the red carpet in New York City for the premiere of the film.

Rachel talked to Entertainment Tonight about time travel being a crucial element of the plot, but it was the timeless romance of the story that hooked her.

"I love 'Back to the Future' -- if I had to pick a time-travel film that was pretty great, that would be it. But I didn't have an intense fascination with time travel [before making the movie]. It was more that I read the book and time travel was just a unique element of a really great love story."

"I just saw it as a device to arrange these two characters [who are] apart who are really wanting to be together," agrees Eric, "and it was very moving as a result."

'Funny People' Take On Serious Subjects At L.A. Premiere

With a title like Funny People, it's surprising to see that the latest film from 40-Year-Old Virgin director Judd Apatow branching out from his standard comedy fare.

But as the film's star Eric Bana tells USA Today, "I think he's a director who could direct great drama and he's chosen to do comedy. With this one, he made a great film that is really, really funny as well."

Although the film's premise is quite serious--with Adam Sandler's main character diagnosed with a terminal illness--there's no lack of laughter in the movie. Leslie Mann, who stars in Funny People, admits, "There was a lot of filth. Offensive filth, that wasn't family friendly."

Sounds like a good time was had by all.

'Star Trek' Travels To Japan At Warp Speed

Taking the Starship Enterprise for a cruise around the world, the cast of Star Trek have pulled into port in Japan for the premiere of their film.

Led by sexy starlet Chris Pine, fellow sexy co-stars Eric Bana, Zachary Quinto, John Cho and Karl Urban joined him on the red carpet to bowl over Japanese fans.

I'm loving any excuse for these dapper men to dress up in suits. Each occasion warrants a Star Fleet salute.

New 'Star Trek' Wants To Make You Laugh

Although the young actors portraying the young crew of the Starship Enterprise drew upon the influence of the original cast, moviegoers will find an added element of comedy in this new version that wasn't as prevalent in the original.

Director J.J. Abrams explained, "As I keep warning people. Star Trek has a definite sense of humour these days." With that in mind, the bridge is equipped with handrails as a result of Ensign Chekov's consistent inability to throw up defensive shields in time. Tee hee!

Also, in the film, we get a special glimpse at the human mother of half-Vulcan Spock played by Winona Ryder. Zachary Quinto had to go without eyebrows for six months during filming to play Spock, but has since become good friends with Leonard Nimoy, who originally reprised the role. As for Chris Pine, who is a young, hot Captain Kirk, he did his best to capture his character's cocky swagger without doing a straight-up William Shatner impersonation.

All in all, it sounds pretty sexy.

Eric Bana Turns Changing Clothes Into An Art Form

This summer's Star Trek bad guy Eric Bana has made the cover of Details magazine. The actor talks about the bad boy he's had in him all his life.

"I went through a little phase," the Australian actor tells Details in it's May cover story, in which he reveals that he showed up drunk to school prompting his mom to ground him for six months. "But I did a lot better than some of the guys I hung with, who have ended up dead or in jail."

For Bana, 40, getting into mischief during his teen years affected his grades at school, causing him to repeat a year of high school. "It wasn't like I was busting to get into NASA or anything," says the Hulk and Black Hawk Down star.

As a husband and father, he does get frustrated and down by the everyday things in life. "I do get incredibly frustrated," says Bana. "I tend to dwell on the negative." But he looks to his wife Rebecca for reassurance. "[She] is great at talking me off the ledge."

I think there are many of us who would like to help Eric Bana down from that ledge.

Chris Pine Wants To Join The A-Team

Rising star Chris Pine is in the midst of promoting what has the potential to be his breakout role as Captain Kirk in the J.J. Abrams-produced Star Trek.

The actor is already looking for his next film role, looking to continue down the patch of action hero. Rumor has it that Pine is looking to star yet another film version of a classic television series, The A-Team.

When asked about it, Chris told MTV News, "I'd love to." Meanwhile, the rest of his sexy, young costars here at the Star Trek premiere don't look too shabby either. I love that they're color-coordinated.

'Star Trek' Cast Makes Appearance In Kuwait

Director J.J. Abrams and the cast of Star Trek gave the troops in Kuwait an early look at the forthcoming Star Trek film. Actors Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine (who leaves me weak in the knees), John Cho and Eric Bana along with executive producer Bryan Burk and director/producer J.J. Abrams presented the film to the service members.

JJ Abrams is quoted as saying, "it struck us that there was an opportunity to not just have it be about the movie, but to have it be about something that's more important than all that stuff. It's an honor to come here to say hi and shake hands with the people who protect us."

That was a nice gesture. I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

'Star Trek XI' Has World Premiere in Sydney, Australia

The existence of these hotties certainly isn't science fiction. These yummy stars of stepped out in simple style at the World Premiere of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek XI in Sydney, Australia.

Most of the guys, Chris Pine, Karl Urban and John Cho, opted for traditional suits, retro-looking skinny ties and white button-up shirts underneath. However, Aussie native Eric Bana and Heroes star Zachary Quinto opted for an all-black look.

God, these guys all lined up are like a nerdy wet dream. Oddly enough, though, the hundreds of fans expected to arrive weren't in attendance. Maybe they'll have better luck once they make their way back to the States.

Orlando Bloom & Eric Bana: Two Buddies Motorcycle Shopping

I didn't realize that Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana were such good friends, but these two look positively giddy spending time together at the Deus Ex Machina Motorcycles shop in Sydney, Australia.

How cute are these two on their boys shopping trip? The only thing that could make this more adorable would be if Orlando popped into a sidecar. That and maybe Mickey Mouse ears on their helmets.

Eric Bana Tried to Be Funny...Once

http://aslcdn.celebuzz.com/images/2008/02/eric_bana_022008_02-thumb.jpg

Believe it or not, Eric Bana started off his career as a stand-up comic and sketch comedian. But there is little to laugh at in these pictures of Eric for his photo shoot for GQ, the latest issue of which has him on the cover. The native Australian chatted with the mag about his unlikely career path that has led him most recently to star alongside Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson in "The Other Boleyn Girl."

And even though he's starred in some unquestionably high-profile films in his time, Bana told the magazine that he never wants to star in a film that would rest solely on his shoulders, as he felt it did in "Hulk." He confessed, "More than once, I've read a script and thought, This movie is going to be huge. This movie is going to make a star out of whoever does it. But I don't see myself in it."

That's fine. He can rest easy knowing that he's got a starring role in some of my more lively personal fantasies. No pressure, Eric.
