For the past three years CNN has honored heroes, and this year Anderson Cooper hosted the event at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood Saturday night. Efren Peñaflorida, who started a "pushcart classroom" in the Philippines to bring education to poor children as an alternative to gang membership, was named the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year.

Peñaflorida, who will receive $100,000 to continue his work with the Dynamic Teen Company, was selected after seven weeks of online voting at CNN.com. More than 2.75 million votes were cast.

Among those celebrities attending the event were Anderson Cooper, Dwayne Johnson, Masi Oka, Eva Mendes, Nicole Kidman Kate Flannery, Jenna Fischer, Carrie Ann Inaba, Leona Lewis, Greg Kinnear, Debi Mezar, Rainn Wilson, Ricki Lake, Randy Jackson, Louis Gossett Jr, Neil Patrick Harris, Laila Ali, Terrance Howard, AnnaLynnne McCord, Cat Cora and Carrie Underwood.

The gala event will be broadcast on Thanksgiving, November 26, at 9pm ET/PT on CNN.

It was a who's who of celebrity at last night's MOCA NEW 30th anniversary gala held at MOCA on November 14, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. It was celebrating it's new exhibit MOCA's First Thirty Years featuring more than 500 works by the likes of Piet Mondrian, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Jeff Koons and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Lady Gaga performed at the event, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made a rare appearance for the event. Much like a plumber wields a wrench, Eva Mendes claims that she uses her sexuality as a tool of her craft. Mendes explains, "I don't allow myself to be typecast, but when I have to turn up the heat and turn up the sexuality and I do an amazing Calvin Klein campaign it's very conscious, that's no accident."

She describes the use of her sensuality in both her modeling and acting gigs as "methodical." The sultry actress explains, "If I feel it's appropriate to show some nudity in the scenes then I go for it. As much as I use my sexuality, I have never felt exploited."

And sometimes, a little nudity on the red carpet goes a long way too.

Romantic comedy regular, Jennifer Aniston, stepped oustide of her comfort zone to act and sing live on a Broadway stage in New York City for The 24-Hour Plays. The Friends actress appeared in Ramen Noodle, singing "A Yellow Submarine," starring opposite Brooke Shields.

For his first time on a Broadway stage, Ashton Kutcher was supported by his wife, Demi Moore. Other couples taking to the stage include Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, as well as the recently engaged Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

Oh yes, I forgot that David Cross and Amber Tamblyn are still, dating, aren't they?

Eva Mendes had to expose herself emotionally in her latest film Bad Lieutenant which premiered in New York City last night, so I guess it was only fitting that she exposed a nipple as well.

It was all big smiles and friendly faces on the red carpet for the 2009 AFI Film Festival premiere of Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, but Jennifer Coolidge revealed to Entertainment Tonight that during filming, she and Eva Mendes were engaged in a pretty intense cat fight.

Of course, the curvaceous funny lady was referring to her fictional tussle in the film with the sultry Latina actress. Coolidge explains, "I was so exhausted after fighting with Eva because she's really strong, and we had to fight over some drugs in a purse. She tired me out...She has more energy than I have."

And on another note completely, who the hell stole Melanie Brown's pants???

Pop star and mother-of-two, Gwen Stefani, showed off her legs in a short black dress at the Fashion Group International's 2009 Night Of Stars in NYC last night. The singer pulled up her white-blonde tresses in a half-up, half-down do, and sported her black cat-eyeliner make-up, but opted to leave her crimson lipstick for another occasion.

Fellow rocker, Jon Bon Jovi, looked all dapper himself, in a suit and tie. Dita Von Teese also opted for black and definitely did not skimp on the red lipstick and nail polish, in her glamorous frock and head-piece.

Young actresses, Evan Rachel Wood and Emmy Rossum, opted for some sumptuous jewel-tones in their red and gold (respectively) Grecian-style toga dresses.

Eva Mendes has just been cast in a new action-comedy. Eva has joined The Other Guys, which also stars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Damon Wayans Jr, and Michael Keaton.

Mendes is touring the festival circuit in Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. She next appears in the Miramax drama Last Night, scheduled for a March release.

There were some incredibly dangerous curves present at the annual British GQ Men of the Year Awards as displayed by such vivacious attendees as Kelly Brook, Eva Mendes and Liz Hurley walking the red carpet in their red carpet finery.

In fact, Kelly's waistline is so ridiculously narrow while her bosom is beyond bouncy that if I find out there's not some seriously constricting Spanx under that bright pink dress, I'm going to be extremely annoyed.

Liz Hurley is electric in a light blue sheath dress and matching eye shadow while Eva Mendes smolders in a deep purple, floor-length dress and impeccable natural-looking make-up.

Meanwhile, young ones, Kelly Osbourne and Lily Allen opted for simple black frocks for the event. They weren't the only ones--Yoko Ono also donned the color, but with a decidedly more playful look that includes a white scarf, top hat and sunglasses.

Boys were there too, with Mickey Rourke sporting his trademark shiny suit, scarf and lots of make-up, God bless him. Also, Guy Ritchie is single and ready to mingle, ladies.
