It's been a year of peaks and valleys for Rihanna, and through it all she's managed to stay poised and popular to her public.  Her new hair, new tracks, and her new single status have been making the rounds, and men, as ever, continue to drool.

But it takes more than gumption and gifts to sweep Riri off her feet.  Hell, sending a  bottle of Champagne to her table at a club won't even guarantee you a "thanks" from the Barbados beauty.  

New York Jets' receiver Braylon Edwards learned the hard way that Rihanna is not desperate for a man's attention.  In fact, she's suspicious of uninvited treatment.  

Recently at The Bank at LA's Wonderland Nightclub, the NFL player and his cohorts partied near the songstress who was enjoying the company of her assistant/BFF Melissa Ford and fellow recording artist and friend, James Blunt.  In a move to impress her, Braylon sent over a $10,000 bottle of champagne to the Grammy Award winner's table.  Now you'd think the sending over of a 10 grand bottle of booze is the impressive part of this story, but it comes second to this: a partygoer remarked, "She didn't know who they were, so she sent it back." That's right, Rihanna was gifted a ten thousand dollar bottle of bubbly at a club and SENT IT BACK.  

Damn!  That's one smooth move I'm not sure I'd have the grace to replicate.  I guess accepting a gift of that magnitude from a stranger has a touch of the "what does this mean if I take it" vibe to it, and anyway, girl can basically afford to bathe in that stuff if she wants.  Still, he was flexing his purse and she straight up refused it.  Ouch!  Apparently, "Edwards' rep says Braylon later introduced himself and all was well."  I'm sure (wink).

Let this serve as a warning to all you cocky men out there who think you've got a shot (in your wallet) with Princess Ri.  You wanna talk to Rihanna?  Send a written request first.  Otherwise, she just might boomerang that expensive gift back to you...  in front of your friends.

Doing their best to keep breakup rumors at bay, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel walked hand-in-hand to take in the Jay-Z concert at the Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles. The couple appeared somber as they marched their way past paparazzi.

Always one to have a gorgeous lady on his arm, James Blunt showed up with a mystery blond sporting bright red lipstick and a smile.

DJ Samantha Ronson was flying solo to the event, as was mother-of-two, Nicole Richie. It's nice to see that Nicole is still sporting some post-baby curves, while Samantha is still looking skinny as ever.

I'm guessing that Rihanna was there to unwind after giving her interview to Diane Sawyer. I can only imagine why everyone else was there.

So, we have good news and we have bad Amy Winehouse news. The Back to Black singer appears to have gained so much-needed weight, which is the good news. The bad news, is that it's all plastic and, well...in her boobs. So, we're not sure it's a great indication of her returning health.

The British pop star was all smiles at the 2009 Q Awards in London in her little red dress with a dramatic plunging neckline. Surprisingly enough, she managed to make pop tart, Lily Allen, look positively demure, with her cream-colored suit and sweet smile. And Lily was rewarded for her good behavior with a Q Award for best track for her single, "The Fear."

He's the one in the middle.

This man sure never wants for women. James Blunt, the British faux-sensitive singer guy, enjoyed playing "musical ladies" this weekend, first at a club in NYC on Friday and then in the Hamptons at a concert on Saturday. James first got his swerve on with Mischa Barton at James Taylor's Hamptons Social @ Ross concert. He was greeted by Barton with a big hug and an exclamation of "There he is!" Apparently, they enjoyed some dessert together until Blunt got bored and wandered over to hang with the Olsen twins. After hanging out and swaying to the music with the tiny twinlets, Blunt returned to Mischa and then when she ditched him, he managed to keep himself busy with the other women in the room. I just don't get the appeal. Personally, if he's going to be honest about how he feels, his famous song lyric should be, "You're available." I hope his next album has a very touching single on it, entitled, "Beer Goggles."

That's not beautiful. James Blunt ran over the foot of an autograph seeker after an Oscar party the other night. Ouch. Maybe it was one of those guys who just want it to sell on EBay and isn't a real fan and James has had it.

The sensitive Brit singer was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles early Saturday while leaving a pre-Academy Award bash in which his car ran over the foot of a male bystander.

Whatever the 32-year-old ex-soldier's role, neither he nor his girlfriend passenger, model Petra Nemcova, reportedly suffered any injuries.

The same can't necessarily be said for the man whose foot was on the receiving end of the vehicle. While the man has not been formally identified, several reports peg him as an autograph-hunter.

The LAPD didn't say for certain that Blunt was driving, he could have been just a passenger. He wasn't too disturbed. It's just a foot. He went on to perform with Elton John on Saturday night at Soho House in L.A. Like I said, it's just a foot. The guy can still use a cane or something or hobble around to get autographs. You get two, fer chrissakes. Pansy. His girlfriend hung from a tree for hours during the tsunami with a broken pelvis. I don't see her whining about it!

A guy can dream can't he? It has been rumoured lately that model, Petra Nemcova and James Blunt may be getting hitched. From FemaleFirst:

Speculation is rife the catwalk beauty has agreed to marry the British singer after the 27-year-old Czech was spotted wearing a huge diamond ring on her engagement finger while shooting a commercial for Hewlett Packard in New York this week.

Rolling Stone released the Grammy nominees today. Suprisingly - they gave nods to some talented bitches (JT, Death Cab, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Flaming Lips, and Imogene Heap). But I can't believe Paris didn't got nominated for "Stars Are Blind". Cuz' that was a hot track.

Isn't this exciting!? The nominees for the 2006 Grammy Awards have been announced ... by Justin Timberlake among others. The so-called Big Four awards -- Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist -- contain mostly predictable nominees (get the full list here). Gnarls' "Crazy" is justifiably nominated alongside Blunt's "Beautiful," among others, for Record of the Year; Gnarls Barkley, the Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Justin Timberlake are all nominated for Album of the Year; songs by James Blunt, Corinne Bailey Rae, the Dixies, Carrie Underwood and Mary J. Blige were all nominated for Song of the Year; those in line for Best New Artist of the Year include James Blunt, Chris Brown, Imogen Heap, Corinne Bailey Rae and Carrie Underwood.

Some surprisingly clued-in nominations include Death Cab for Cutie as Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group (let's hope they kick the shit out of the also-nominated "My Humps"), Arctic Monkeys, Gnarls, Flaming Lips, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Thom Yorke as nominees for Best Alternative Album, and Best Rock Album nominees the Raconteurs, Tom Petty and Neil Young (alongside the Chili Peppers and an apparently hard-rocking John Mayer).

I take it back. John Mayer got nominated. He's everything odious about our culture. I'd rather listen to Lindsay Lohan's "Speak" in its entirety. And then blow my head off.
