New mom, Jennifer Hudson, wowed attendees of the 2009 Angel Ball with two songs, one of which included "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," from the role in Dreamgirls that nabbed her an Oscar.

At last night's event, hosted by Denise Rich, the Grammy-winner sparked talk about her potential participation in an upcoming biopic about South African leader, Winnie Mandela.

Word has it that Idris Elba or Derek Luke are being considered for the role of Winnie's ex-husband, Nelson Mandela. Sounds like it will be a critically-acclaimed gig for whoever can nab it.

Golden girl, Blake Lively, rarely steps out of the house looking anything less than picture perfect. So it was a shock to see the Gossip Girl star revealing some tell-tale splotches on her chest when she bared her decolletage in a low-cut top at the 2009 Angel Ball. But then again, if that's her biggest flaw, the girl should count herself as lucky.

Her real-life boyfriend and Gossip Girl co-star, Penn Badgley, recently admitted to Men's Health that maintaining their romance has been a balancing act. The actor admits, "Having a relationship with someone you work with might not always be the smartest move. But it's been wonderful to be in a relationship where we can both identify with what the other is experiencing."

It seems that black was the color of choice for the evening with Bar Rafaeli and Jennifer Hudson also decked out in the most slimming of colors.

It was a glamorous night in New York City last night. The 2009 Whitney Museum Gala took place and it was star studded. We brought you photos of a sparkly and golden Lindsay Lohan attending the event earlier, but there were many more glamourous women than Lindsay in attendance.

It's hard to believe Jennifer Hudson gave birth to a bouncing baby boy two months ago, as she showed off her post-baby body in a pale pink floor-length Versace dress.

Donatella Versace also opted for a very similar color, but her gown had a metallic-looking bodice, which matched the metallic theme that many of the celebrities sported.

Taylor Momsen had some problems on the red carpet with her thigh-high split floor length gown, but once she got the gown under control, all was well. She does love those fishnets and dark eye makeup.

Also attending the event were Alexa Chung, Chanel Iman, Charlotte Ronson, Leigh Lezark, Mischa Barton (who looked pretty stunning and totally with it), Lake Bell, Lisa Edelstein, Nigel Barker, Gerard Butler, Candice Bergen and Shakira.

It's hard to remember that Jennifer Hudson is a new mom, what with the singer keeping a fairly busy work schedule after delivering her baby boy, David Daniel Otunga Jr. on August 10.

However, Hudson recently took some time out to chat with People magazine about the newest addition to her family. Proud mama, Jennifer, boasts, "He's the cutest thing in the world! There are no words for it. He's the best. It's just amazing--us discovering each other, me becoming a mom."

Hudson--who is seen here at the Netflix Outdoor Concert--claims that her little one is already demonstrating musical talents. "The other night he was having a fit screaming, and someone turns on the music and he just stops and calms down...Sometimes when he cries, I try to harmonize!" What a coincidence, when I try to harmonize, I tend to make people cry.

There were numerous memorable performances of the evening, but probably my favorite would be "All in Love is Fair" between Stevie Wonder and youngun, Jennifer Hudson. Pared down with a simple piano and microphones, the duo delivered a goosebump-inducing rendition of the song.



Similarly, Adele and India Arie were perfectly matched as the two took to the stage with India on guitar and the British singer bopping along with her mic to the strains of "Because I am a Queen." In fact, if you close your eyes, it's hard to see where one leaves off and the other begins.

As for the uptempo numbers, Miley Cyrus and Jordin Sparks delivered the most youthful, splashy performances complete with over-the-top dance numbers.

Former American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, reminded the audience at the 2009 VH1 Divas Live special that she's still got it, launching into a medley of her greatest hits (check out that video after the jump..

During the performance, Abdul wowed the audience with a splashy dance number, showing off her fit figure. In addition, at one point during the evening, Abdul shimmied through the audience, doing a spot-on impersonation of Ellen DeGeneres up to the stage.



As for the rest of the performers who made their way to the event in their finest evening wear, it was a powerhouse of a lineup with Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Melissa Etheridge, India.Arie, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Leona Lewis, Cyndi Lauper and Miley Cyrus.

As for young Jordin Sparks, she showed off some lighter, wavy locks on stage. Someone's lightening up for the summer.

It was sparkles and glamour on the red carpet at this years young crop of Diva's at VH1's Divas Live concert. The ladies showed how there is no age limit for a diva. Kathy Griffin gave some advice to the up-and-comers.

On-the-way-up stars "had better grow a nice thick skin -- and also stay thin," comedian Kathy Griffin suggests. "That's essential in Hollywood: thick skin and thin bodies."

In the midst of Oprah Winfrey kicking off her 24th season, the talk show host is talking up her recent interview with songstress, Whitney Houston.

Winfrey teases the upcoming episode, which airs September 14, by saying of their chat together, "I just wanted to be able to have an honest conversation with her. One woman to another woman. And the day of the interview I literally prayed about that all day long."

While she doesn't dish any details, Oprah reveals, "I just wanted a connection between the two of us. And that is what happened. And that is why I believe it's one of the most, if not the most, powerful interviews I've ever done."

Meanwhile, it was a star-studded outdoor event to kick off this year's season of O's talk show, featuring a public concert on Michigan Avenue in Chicago that included performances from Jennifer Hudson, Black Eyed Peas, Criss Angel, James Taylor, Rascal Flatts and more.

Oprah knows how to do it up right.

Congratulations go out to Jennifer Hudson! She gave birth to a baby boy Monday night. The boy -- named David Daniel Otunga Jr., after his father, Hudson's fiancee -- weighed in at a healthy seven pounds, 14 ounces, according to Showbiz 411.
