ASL's Exclusive Interview With Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly

Get Cape 040407 04

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. The nom de musique of an expressionistic activist folk-rocker with modern technology and an incredible zest for life. Get Cape has a gift to make you feel for his politics, listen to his amazing control of beat and sound, and for his way to write a hook. It will keep you lifted on the melodies, while not straying too far from the message. This 21 year old Brit product will be soon making his way on a tear through the heartland of America? Have you heard of Get Cape? More upbeat than Gavin DeGraw, more modern than Dave Matthews, Get Cape is carving his own path into music. His path...straight to the top.

If you haven't heard him listen to him here.

Josh Martin - Sam, thanks for getting me this time to interview you. Do I call you Sam, Do I call you Get Cape?...wait. How did you even start in music, then you can tell me how you got this wild name?

Get Cape - Well, I had started in hardcore punk music. I loved my music, but I just always wanted more. Plus, just strumming around my place, I played acoustic. So as the previous band I was in broke up, I picked up acoustic. As for the name, I was going on to play my first gig, and I didn't like my real name. I'd been playing video games, and one of the quotes I always remembered was "Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly"... So it stuck really. After that, I went independent, with just me, my laptop and guitar and was on the road. I played over 200 shows in 2 years.

ASL's Exclusive Interview With Rich Boy

http://aslcdn.celebuzz.com/images/2007/03/rich_boy_032207_01-thumb.jpgMobile, Alabama, where everything is laid back and slow. No one cares about 20-inch rims and Escalades. It's chill and quiet, but you'd never think that if you had "Boy Looka Here" bumping through your speakers. Rich Boy, 23, hasn't always been a musician. He went to college to be a mechanical engineer, which is far, far from the ghetto life. Dropping out of college to follow his musical dreams, Rich boy wouldn't be deterred. Going from a beat maker in his college dorm room to making an all-out assault on the charts by putting the same drive he had in getting out of the ghetto into his music. Rich Boy still keeps his feet on the ground, determined never to forget where he comes from, but with enough vision to know the importance of expanding his knowledge base to keep progressing.

Josh Martin: Rich, thanks for giving us some time, man. How are you, and how does it feel to be twenty-three and have a CD out, that has received such success?

Rich Boy: Man, I can't even explain it. It feels great, I don't even know. It's so big, I can't even grasp it yet.

Josh: You're currently on tour, but not just any tour. This isn't just small venues, these are arenas. How does that feel that one of your first tours is an arena tour?

Rich Boy: It's wild man. It makes you feel like a giant, like your on top of the world for real.

Josh: I saw you were raised in Mobile, Alabama. That isn't exactly a huge city, very laid back and southern. How has all that affected your music up till now?

Rich Boy: I feel like it really helped my music. It kept it so I didn't just write one way or whatever. I didn't write music just for the clubs, or when your going through stuff. Or when you're just going through anything like just a rough trial in your life. I write about things and stuff like that. Growing up in the hood I rap about certain topics that I wouldn't have rapped about if I hadn't grown up there.

Cocky. Egotistical. Showboater. Over the top. Tito Ortiz is a former Light-Heavyweight Champion of the UFC. From dangerous upbringing, to a fighting star, Tito has slowly climbed the ranks of life. He's been a coach in "The Ultimate Fighter," a gig that landed him some top class fighters in his Team Punishment. He's now got his own clothing line Punishment Athletics (www.pa99.com), not to mention his main squeeze is none other than Jenna Jameson of Adult Video fame. All in all Tito has had a wild career and it's not hardly scratched the surface.

Josh Martin: How are you Tito? Some fans from A Socialite's Life mentioned your name and we had to score you for an interview. So lets start at the start. How did you get into MMA?

Tito Ortiz: I wrestled in high school and into college. When I saw that the UFC was starting to have developed and set rules, I was more interested and really go into it. I starting with Tank Abbot and I just hit it from there. I wrestled a guy named Jerry Bolander in HS and slaughtered him, and I saw he was rising through the MMA ranks, so I thought I had a chance.

EXCLUSIVE: ASL's Interview With James Morrison

Morrisson 031307 02

James Morrison is a name that you'll know soon. With a CD that releases today, James obliged us with an exclusive interview. James was born in Rugby, England, far from the coasts of the USA on July 10th 1984. A new voice of soulful pop music would be born--one that would become an overwhelmingly popular one. At the age of thirteen, Morrison learned the guitar from his uncle, and from there, a musician blossomed. He went busking, just playing for anyone he could find, knowing that if he ever wanted to be famous, he'd have to play in front of thousands. With a distinct voice given to him by a whooping cough that he had as a baby, he hopes to play for millions.

Josh Martin: I've been reading over your bio. You're 22 years old. You're a relatively young singer/songwriter on the Interscope label. How has that been, traveling throughout England and the rest of Europe with your new CD, at such a young age?

James Morrison: It's been absolutely amazing. For me, I mean, I've never experienced anything like this before. The thought that I get to do this at this young point of my career, and I'll get to grow and learn more and have more experience, is just great.

Josh: Your album already debuted #1 on the UK charts and you've had a pair of top five hits. Yet, you're still a relative unknown to US music fans, but you're going on a tour right away. Is that exciting to you?

James: Yeah man! Definitely, I love touring anyway. To go to America with it, is amazing. America has so many great places to play, it's just such a vast area of landscapes and cultures that you get to play. So, yeah I'm totally excited about the whole trip. I've never really spent any time in America anyways. So I get to go over there with my music, it is an absolute bonus to my life.

The interview continues, along with a list of James Morrison's upcoming concert dates, after the jump...

ASL EXCLUSIVE: A Socialite's Life Attends the UFC 68: The Uprising!

Batista.JPG Triple%20H.JPG

Hello, good readers of A Socialite's Life! I, Joshua, do get an occasional perk thrown my way and this past weekend in Columbus, Ohio, I was given Media Passes to attend "UFC 68: The Uprising." Why was ASL there, you might be wondering? At the same time as the UFC event was taking place in Columbus, the "Arnold Classic," one of the biggest body building shows in the world, was also going on. And we all know that where there is money to be made, athletes and celebrities are sure to show their lovely faces.

So, who did we spot at the Arnold?

Football players: Vernon Davis, Ronnie Brown, Larry Fitzgerald.

WWE Wrestlers: Triple H, and Batista.

Fighters: Chuck Liddel, Anderson Silva, Keith Jardine and Frank Trigg, just to name a few.

This was a "Who's Who" of people who showed up looking good. Not to mention those who made an appearance at the fight itself, including Ken Griffey Jr., Adam Dunn, Andrei Arlofsky, among a list of other fighters and celebrities. There was a bit of controversy at the show, with the WWE fighters in attendance, as they are a pay-per-view competitor of the UFC. The crowd was aghast at the fact they showed up and probably hoping to witness some crazy folding-chair-upside-the-head-action, but alas, everyone seemed to be on good behavior. Personally, I've never been around some many drunken fans in my life, and honestly it was a blast.

The Celebs Love Their Customized Clothing

Eva Longoria I'll Have Your Baby BradWith the Grammy's and Oscar's passing, high fashion in celebrity life is upon us. Who's wearing whom and when they wore it, and has it been worn before? Honestly, it's almost comical how a celebrity now will "shout out" her designer like a rap artist shouts out his group before a song. However, with high fashion comes down time. A trend that has recently caught on in celebrity life is customized clothing. Websites like CustomizedGirl are starting to cater to celebrities with styles and sayings they like and are getting them put on their favorite apparel. Believe it or not, most celebrities have been pictured in t-shirts and jeans more than Gucci or Prada. So, I got in contact with the leading customized clothing company, Customized girl and asked a few questions.

In an interview with Taj Schaffnit, the president of CustomizedGirl, he said, "The site is designed specifically for women, providing the luxury of quality customized clothing, once only accessible to celebrities, with out the high cost of the boutiques". In touring their website, they have a real simple design tool for you to totally design what goes on your shirt, and one thing celebrities want to do even in down time is, stand out. I went back to do my own research, and tees like "Future Mrs. Lachey", and "Future Mrs. Federline" are very easy to design and order online.

A Socialite's Life EXCLUSIVE- Young Buck Brings It

Young%20Buck.jpg

One of the most controversial, loud rap groups in the game right now is G-Unit. It'd been a while since the entire Unit had put out a record, so it was time for someone to step up. Young Buck, the first in '07 from the Unit to put out an album, is one of their most outspoken members. Buck has always been the total package - he truly lives the rap life. This whole thing is not an image to him; the whole persona is really him. He has a swagger about him that is undeniable, and it shows. With his new album Buck The World, you'll find not only does he have that swagger, but he still has his pulse on the streets. Also, with people like T.I, Young Jeezy, Pimp C, The whole G-Unit family, Trick Daddy, Dr. Dre, Eminem and more on the album you can tell he's more focused than ever to get above the grind.

Josh: Buck, What's up? How are you? I have heard you've been busy, on the grind, the mixtape circuit, what has Buck been doin?

Buck: Yo man, I've been keeping myself out there, keeping myself relevant period. I've been doin' mixtapes for real. I've done that whole circuit, then I was on the 2pac record, I did the Trick record. I was on the T.I. record, so I ain't really went no where man. I have been keeping out there, keeping on the street, ya feel me? I don't just disappear, I ain't makin money, if I ain't workin.

EXCLUSIVE: Robin Thicke Speaks With A Socialite's Life

Robin Thicke 021507 02

Robin Thicke may not be a name you've heard too much. With all the gummy, sugary, watered-down pop music out there, it's rare to find someone who can grab music by the horns and steer it into a place it's never been. Someone who has the passion of a soul singer, the lyrics of a hip-hop artist, and the skill of a super producer. Without any professional training, Thicke has become an amazing producer--not only producing his own albums--but also working with such music powerhouses as Mary J Blige, Usher, Christina Aguilera, and Michael Jackson on their projects.

Everything this man touches turns platinum, and you probably didn't even know who he was! Currently, he's smashing records with the success of the #1 hit "Lost Without U." The album sits at #6 this week on the Top 200 Album chart and remains the #1 most played song ever at the Urban Adult Contemporary format. Robin sat down with me, and answered a few questions.

Josh: Hi Robin, it's a pleasure to meet you. Lets get down to it. Not many people know your father was Alan Thicke of TV fame, and you have a famous mother too. Unlike the Osbournes, or Brooke Hogan, your celebrity parents haven't been exploited to make you a celebrity. Was that intentional?

Thicke: Ever since I was 6 or 7 I loved to sing and dance. I always would find myself singing in the house and dancing. I wanted to be famous myself, and do it my way. Plus I loved MTV, so it just seemed to fit.

Josh: Your music is very different, and very special. Who would you consider to be your musical inspirations?

Thicke: Music that makes me feel, which is rare to find now a days. Music like Michael Jackson, Prince, The Beatles are people who did what they did and didn't apologize for it. It's music like that, that I would like to do. Hip-hop is really the only music that inspires me anymore. Everything else seems so packaged and fake. Hip-hop inspires fashion, movies, television. Hip-hop is the most original form of music, and it just makes you feel. To me, Hip-hop is the true inspiration of art.
