A black, highly-structured black mini-dress was the outfit of choice for X-Factor winner, Leona Lewis. The British pop star paired some ankle-boot style heels with her ensemble, portraying a hard-edge look that we would usually expect from Rihanna.

However, she did recently reveal that she's got a harder edge than most people would think.

For the past three years CNN has honored heroes, and this year Anderson Cooper hosted the event at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood Saturday night. Efren Peñaflorida, who started a "pushcart classroom" in the Philippines to bring education to poor children as an alternative to gang membership, was named the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year.

Peñaflorida, who will receive $100,000 to continue his work with the Dynamic Teen Company, was selected after seven weeks of online voting at CNN.com. More than 2.75 million votes were cast.

Among those celebrities attending the event were Anderson Cooper, Dwayne Johnson, Masi Oka, Eva Mendes, Nicole Kidman Kate Flannery, Jenna Fischer, Carrie Ann Inaba, Leona Lewis, Greg Kinnear, Debi Mezar, Rainn Wilson, Ricki Lake, Randy Jackson, Louis Gossett Jr, Neil Patrick Harris, Laila Ali, Terrance Howard, AnnaLynnne McCord, Cat Cora and Carrie Underwood.

The gala event will be broadcast on Thanksgiving, November 26, at 9pm ET/PT on CNN.

Having just celebrated the launch of her new album, Echo, Leona Lewis made her way over to the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood 2009 Party to get her due for Chanteuse of the Year. Fellow reality TV singer, Adam Lambert was also recognized as Glam God of the Year and lived up to his title in his shiny pants, leather jacket, lots of jewelry and eyeliner.

Kristin Cavallari was given the title of Comeback of the Year and showed up the event looking skinny as hell. She was dressed in all black and as we know, that color has a slimming effect, and she's already plenty thin as it is.

Of course, it was LaToya Jackson who stole the show, wearing a bright orange jacket that perfectly matched her nails. I'm glad to see that she didn't let a little thing like an invitation stop her from having a good time!

Decked out in a tight-fightting, straples purple dress that showed off all her curves, Leona Lewis played hostess at the private party held at Hyde in Hollywood to celebrate her new album, ECHO, sponsored by ASICS.

Other musicians made their way congratulate Leona on her latest endeavor such as former NSYNC members, Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez, Ciara and Eve. In fact, the "SexyBack" singer was spotted pushing his way through the throng of fans to make his way to the X-Factor winner to congratulate her personally with a hug and a smile.

Ciara showed of plenty of leg in her Jeremy Scott dress, aided by her Christian Louboutin high-heels and Eve also stepped out in a flirty black frock, showing off some sheer fishnets and white pumps.

Don't be confused by the tears Leona Lewis shed when some crazed fan punched her in the face unexpectedly at a book signing. The X-Factor winner says that she won't be losing sleep over the attack because her rough and tumble upbringing prepared her.

Lewis claims, "I'm from Hackney, so I'm hard. I'm not going to let something like that bother me." The singer adds, "When you grow up where I did you learn to move on. There was always some kind of craziness going on in my neighborhood."

Her heart might be crippled by the vein that she keeps on closing, but other than that, she's fine.

Beyonce was the major winner of the evening at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in Berlin. She took home a total of three EMA trophies - Best Female, Best Song and Best Video.

Eminem won the coveted Best Male category at the Awards, which honors and celebrates Europe's contemporary music stars, while Jay-Z triumphed in the Best Urban category. U2 clinched a well-deserved Best Live Act - scoring their third EMA award win since the MTV Europe Music Awards debuted in 1994.

Creative powerhouse Lady Gaga was honored in the Best New Act category while Green Day scored a victory over the Best Rock contenders. Best Group went to German rockers Tokio Hotel, who also wowed the 9,000-strong crowd with a stunning rendition of their hit "The World Behind My Wall," culminating in an explosive pyrotechnical display and the band's instruments consumed by flames.

Host Katy Perry brought her trademark energy and quirky humor to the awards, appearing in a dazzling array of costumes and looks inspired by burlesque and Liza Minnelli's Oscar-winning appearance in Cabaret, the novel which lifted the lid on decadent 1930's Berlin.

Among the many show highlights was a strikingly sexy performance of "Happy" by Leona Lewis, an upbeat version of "Sweet Dreams" by Beyonce and a high octane rock medley of "Wheels" and "All My Life" by the Foo Fighters. Colombian siren Shakira sent temperatures rising with a steamy performance of "Did It Again," performed with dancers dressed only in skimpy towels.

Everybody and their brother--including the Jonas Brothers--showed up to the 2009 MTV Europe Awards dressed to the nines. Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas were decked out in their trademark shiny suits while the members of Tokio Hotel opted for a more ostentatious look, as did Pete Wentz with his "black eye."

Hostess for the evening, Katy Perry looked elegant with her dark black locks swept back in a classic updo as she showed off her show-stopping figure in an elegant pale-pink and black gown.

Shakira and Joss Stone both opted for short, flirty frocks, with the Colombian pop star donning a sexy silver mini-dress and the British singer showing off some black knee-high boots with her blue toga dress.

It hasn't been that long since Leona Lewis was attacked in public by a crazed fan, so it's not surprising to read that the pop star is still quite shell-shocked by the whole experience.

The X-Factor winner recently took a detour to a police station in London after she became panicked by a swarm of paparazzi trailing her.

A representative for Lewis tells the Daily Star, "She was being followed by about a dozen photographers and things were getting hairy. She dived into the nearest police station, waited there for a while as things calmed down, then was able to continue on her way."
