Is There An Emmy In Jon Hamm's Future?

Share

According to Boston Globe's Joanna Weiss and Matthew Gilbert
Jon Hamm (Don Draper) is Mad Men's front runner, beating out January Jones (Betty Draper) and John Slattery (Roger Sterling) for an Emmy this season.

Both critics agree January Jones acting is sub par and while John Slattery is "great," nothing could compare to Jon Hamm and Don Draper's story line.

I can't imagine picking between these three actors, each is amazing. Jones is beautiful and plays Betty spot on- I love everything about her. Hamm is dreamy and he is the only one that can make Don Draper loveable. And I can't cut John Slattery out of the running; I've had a crush on him since he played Bill Kelley, the politician, on Sex and the City. Decisions, decisions!

But what about Elisabeth Moss aka Peggy Olson? She's amazing too! It's so hard to choose!

January Jones: On-Screen Serial Monogamist

Share

Rocking glamorous duds and some picture-perfect red lipstick on her television series, Mad Men, it's easy to only think of January Jones as the beautiful yet tortured housewife, Betty Draper.

However, the actress shows off her casual side in some stripey duds on her way through the LAX airport on the way to host Saturday Night Live this weekend in New York.

While she's clearly nothing like Betty in real life, January has found herself cast as everybody's wife these days. The blond bombshell stars as the better half of a DJ in rock comedy, Pirate Radio, and will play wives in two upcoming thrillers: Hungry Rabbit Jumps with Nicolas Cage and Unknown White Male opposite Liam Neeson.

Clearly, she doesn't have a fear of commitment--at least not fictionally speaking.

January Jones Bares Boobs & Soul & Disses Ashton Kutcher In 'GQ'

Share

Betty Draper, demure housewife married to Mad Men lothario, Don Draper, was nowhere to be found when GQ sat down for a photoshoot and interview with actress, January Jones.

The actress hails of Midwestern descent and has a lot less in common with her tightly-wound on-screen housewife persona. In fact, it's a testament to her acting that she has found herself receiving numerous offers for similar roles--a talent that former boyfriend, Ashton Kutcher didn't believe she possessed.

According to Jones, "The guy I was dating when I first got to L.A. was not supportive of my acting. He was like, I don't think you're going to be good at this. So--fuck you!" Careful research identified the ex as none other than the Prank'd star.

January cautions, "He only has nice things to say now--if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated." And now, she's showing off victorious revenge magazine cover cleavage.

Christina Hendricks Of 'Mad Men' Weds Geoffrey Arend

Share

31-year-old Christina Hendricks was a vision in her Carolina Herrera wedding gown on Sunday, when she wed her fiancé Geoffrey Arend at Il Buco restaurant in New York. The couple first met when Christina's Mad Men co-star, Vincent Kartheiser, introduced Christina to the (500) Days of Summer star.

When Hendricks chatted with People magazine about her engagement in July, she gushed of the frock she'd selected for her special day, "It was the first dress I tried on and it was magnificent."

The couple's platinum wedding bands are by Tacori and Christina's out-of-this-world curves are by nature.

Jon Hamm Talks About Being A Sexy Mad Man

Share

Jon Hamm is obviously one of the sexiest men on television right now. Personally, I think the Mad Men star is made even hotter by the fact that he is truly a down to earth, sweet, and thoroughly entertaining kind of guy. When he sat down to chat with Vanity Fair, all of our favorite Jon Hamm qualities shown through. Are you ready for Jon Hamm to get just a little bit hotter?

Remember how incredibly funny he was on Saturday Night Live? Who knew the mysterious Don Draper could be so funny? It was almost as if he'd done live TV before. Had he? "No, not on purpose. But I was just thrilled, because I've been watching Saturday Night Live since I can remember--since I was little, little kid. My dad would have these crazy 70s parties. But I would just park myself in front of the television, a huge 25-inch television, and watch Saturday Night Live, and all this weirdness was going on around me. So, yeah, so I had a pretty significant history, personal history, with SNL."

For Jon, Mad Men came as kind of a fluke. "I had a horrible pilot season that year and one of the last ones to come down the pike was Mad Men. I looked at it and I was like, AMC? They don't even make television shows--what is this going to be? But the script was really interesting, and we did it. And as I've said many, many times before, I was on the bottom of everybody's list. Like, I started at the very bottom. But to Matt Weiner's great credit, he was very tenacious in fighting for me." Thank god he did. Can you imagine Don Draper without him?

Although, life on the Mad Men set hasn't been easy. During the first season of the show, Jon sustained two pretty horrible injuries. The first came when a piece of set fell on his head and cracked it open. "Oh, yeah, it was a pretty big cut. Head wounds, I gather, are bleeders. I was like, "Oh, shit! What the fuck happened?" And everybody was like, uh uh uh. I started taking my jacket off, making sure it didn't get blood on it." He would care about his jacket. The second came from attempting to jump and land on a pad in a flashback scene. During the rehearsal, he hit his hand a little too hard, and by the end of the day it was extremely swollen and obviously broken.

That one didn't end there though. After getting a removable cast on his hand so they could continue shooting, he has some problems with one scene in particular. He'd told his cast mate Elisabeth Moss not to actually shake his had in her promotion scene, sadly, she thought he was kidding so only firm handshakes from this girl. "It was just like lightning bolts of pain, like I was almost driven to my knees. And she let go, and she was like, 'Oh, my God! What did I do? What did I do?' I was like, 'I told you not to shake my hand.' She was like, 'I thought you were kidding.' [Laughs.] Like what kind of joke would that be? Like, oh, it was going to be hilarious, a fake handshake"

Don't worry Jon. If you ever get hurt again I'll be right there to kiss your booboo and make it all better. I promise.

2009 Emmy Nominations Are In!

Share

30 Rock leads the pack for this year's Emmy nominations with a staggering 22 to its credit. However, Family Guy managed to find itself in the unique situation of being the first animated series since The Flinstones in 1961 to be nominated for outstanding comedy series.

The category also includes Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, Weeds, The Office and How I Met Your Mother. As for outstanding dramatic series, Breaking Bad, Dexter, House, Mad Men, Lost and Damages were all recognized with nominations. In fact, Mad Men snagged an impressive 16 nods, the most of any drama this year.

In addition, a new category has been added into the mix with the comedy, musical and variety series genre including The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Show with David Letterman, Real Time with Bill Maher and Saturday Night Live.

Grey Gardens
, the HBO film starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange, earned 17 nominations with the Winston Churchill WWII flick Into the Storm picked up 14.

Jon Hamm & Tina Fey Ham It Up On '30 Rock'

Share

In a page out of one of my personal fantasties, Mad Men's Jon Hamm scoots around on a motorcycle in a guest spot on 30 Rock with Tina Fey. That's right, folks Liz Lemon and Don Draper star in a scene together, although I can't tell what's going on in the scene. I'm sure it well end up being sexy because these two are involved.

Either way, it looks like Jon is having a good time and really, that's all that matters.
