George Clooney & Meryl Streep To Unite On Red Carpet

All eyes will be on George Clooney when he walks the red carpet for the opening of the 53rd London Film Festival because of the lovely lady who will be on his arm. No, it's not Elisabetta Canalis, but his Fantastic Mr. Fox, co-star Meryl Streep.

The twosome voiced characters for the animated feature, directed by Wes Anderson. That will certainly be a spiffy pair, since George never disappoints on the red carpet.

Emile Hirsch's Flower Power: 'Taking Woodstock' Premiere In NYC

Director Ang Lee has brought his new film, Taking Woodstock, to New York City, along with his stars Emile Hirsch and Demetri Martin. Decked out in a modern representation of a hippie, Emile flashes a bright smile while clutching some white flowers.

Liev Schreiber kept it casual, as well, with a blazer and newsboy cap and some scruff around the edges. Taking a more traditional approach, comedian Demetri Martin stepped out in a simple suit and skinny tie, radiating all kinds of cuteness.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and follows the real-life story of Woodstock concert organizer Elliot Tiber. Additionally, Ang Lee and screenwriter/producer James Schamus will attend a benefit screening of the movie in Columbia County, where several scenes of the film were shot during production last year.

Meryl Streep & Amy Adams Are 'Julie & Julia' In Hollywood

Once again, Amy Adams and Meryl Streep have teamed up together and are making the rounds on the red carpet. But this time around, the nuns of Doubt have chosen much lighter fare.

In Julie & Julia, Meryl takes on the role (flawlessly, of course) of Julia Child, while Amy plays real-life food blogger Julie Powell, who followed Child's recipes and ultimately wrote a successful book about her experiences.

The two ladies caused quite a stir at last week's premiere in New York and were just as warmly received here in Hollywood. Just talking about the movie is making me hungry. But then again, breathing makes me hungry.

Meryl Streep: Most Oscar-Nominated Actor In History

A career spanning nearly forty years in film, television and theater, has earned actress Meryl Streep the distinction of being the only performer, male or female, in her field to garner as many Academy Award nominations as her.

This year, the actress was nominated for her first Oscar in 1978, garnering a Best Supporting Actress nom in The Deer Hunter and won her first statuette in the Best Supporting Actress category the following year in Kramer vs. Kramer. This year, she's up for Best Actress in the Catholic school drama Doubt.

Meryl has received international recognition for her body of work, in addition to holding this particular record for Oscar nominations. However, the actress is quick to point out, as she did in her recent interview on Oprah, that she's also won the distinction as being the actor who has had the opportunity to win an Academy Award and lost.

She's still a winner in our book--the book of people who are AWESOME!

Meryl Streep To Guest Star On '30 Rock'

YES!

We can't imagine a better way to top off the comedic stylings of Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin than a guest appearance by the award-gifted Meryl Streep. Meryl will show 'em how it's done.

We were thrilled to see photo-ops of Tina and Jon Hamm, and now we can multiply that happiness by, like, 100. (Jennifer Aniston had a much, much milder effect)

Alec supposedly cornered Meryl after her Best Actress SAG award win and sweet-talked her into a role on 30 Rock when she was high on life.

"Meryl was delighted with the idea of appearing on the show," a well-placed insider told the New York Daily News. "She said yes immediately."

Tina and Alec better learn to behave themselves. No amateur actor squabbling when Meryl's in the house! (Bloggers beware

The best supporting actress prize was handed to a stunned Kate Winslet and Heath Ledger was posthumously recognized as best supporting actor for his creation of a deeply disturbed Joker in The Dark Knight.

The Slumdog Millionaire cast received their kudos for their work together as an ensemble and a Life Achievement award was presented to actor James Earl Jones.

Oscar Nominations Are In!

The 81st Annual Oscar Nominations are finally in!

Heath Ledger kept up his posthumous streak with a nomination for supporting actor in Dark Knight while Penelope Cruz and Amy Adams were both nominated in the supporting actress category.

Indie favorite Slumdog Millionaire also did incredibly well with 10 nominations as did The Dark Knight with 8 nominations.
